Japanese hin breed description

This is a graceful, small, sophisticated dog, pleasing and adorning the lives of their owners.

She is famous for her balanced temperament, and her nobility is inherent in her, allowing her not to doubt her exclusive, privileged position in any home and family.

Beautiful and bright color, snow-white silk wool with black or red spots attracts rapturous looks and causes admiration.

The eyes of the Japanese Chin remind us of Eastern exoticism, and the wise look of the slightly slanted, all-knowing eyes keeps secrets about the ancient culture of Japan.

The dog needs constant companionship and love. Hin does not require heavy self-care, will not bother your neighbors with excessive barking.

This is a dog that has virtually no flaws.

Japanese Chin Care

Like most long-haired dogs, Japanese Chin wool has a very effective look, although the care will not take long. She has almost no undercoat, molting passes unnoticed, there should be no problems with cleaning. You will not notice shreds on the sofa and carpets, as often happens when shedding in long-haired dogs.

The coat is so silky in its structure that the dirt almost does not linger on it. Even after walking in the rain or the slush of his coat, it is sufficient to dry.

Hina wool does not need to be combed constantly, because it does not fall into tubers and mats, like Shi-tzu, combing it once a week is enough. He does not need debilitating procedures, such as trimming, winding on papilotki, various haircuts.

It is better to bathe a dog once every 2 to 3 months, or as far as it becomes contaminated, and only use dog shampoo

Every day, inspect the eyes and wash them with a cotton swab dipped in boiled water or tea brewing. If dark circles from the tears under the eyes remain, buy a special liquid in the pet store to remove tear stains, but remember that only wool should be wiped, the liquid should not get into the dog's eyes! In case of eye injury, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Teeth should be cleaned 1-2 times a week, with special paste for dogs. To control the formation of tartar, you can add to the diet fresh tomatoes, or rubbing the teeth with tomato paste.

Inspect the pet's ears regularly, wipe off sulfur with a cotton swab dipped in an ear care product, wipe only the auricle, do not climb into the ear canal.

Remove dead hair from the ear canal. Ears should be pale pink in color, clean, not inflamed. If the ears are inflamed, consult your veterinarian.

Japanese hin, famous for good health, he has no problems with breathing. In winter, the dogs do not freeze, and do not need clothes. It is well tolerated in summer.

Buy Japanese chin, can be in nurseries, or from an experienced breeder.

Appearance

Compact, almost square format, elegant decorative dog about 25 cm tall. In motion, light, elegant - the skeleton of natural proportions, legs are not shortened. Typical brachycephalic: the neck is rather short, the skull is rounded and wide, the muzzle is flat. The eyes are very beautiful - black, round, rather large. It is important that the eyeballs are not bulging. The protein visible in the corners of the eyes is permissible, but not more than the third part.

The Japanese chin coat is straight and silky, with a light downy undercoat. On the ears, neck, tail and paws luxurious long hair, on the muzzle, head and body of the "fur coat" is shorter. The color is white-black or white-red (any shade), colored spots occupy a smaller area and are symmetrical. On the forehead there is a groove in the shape of V, the muzzle is also more often white - a “mask” is obtained, the presence of which is highly desirable for an exhibition dog.

Red version looks more bright and elegant.

The nature and features of education

The nature of the Japanese Chin, according to the owners, is reminiscent of Pekingese, it also demands respect and courtesy. The main thing in education is not to “turn on the leader” for any reason. These are non-dominant dogs (with rare exceptions), they do not need to be “broken”, “crushed” by themselves. The maximum allowable punishment is to grab the skin at the withers and shake gently (imitating the behavior of the mother). But more often there is enough of the unfriendly, but firm “roar”, ignoring or condemning tone.

Nervousness, strength and rudeness in relationships lead to an instant loss of trust: a stubborn person either closes in on himself or openly shows aggression. This can be a serious problem, since it is difficult to establish a lost connection - to the unpredictable behavior of the host and irritation, the answer will be a closure in oneself.

But it is impossible to indulge in whims, otherwise the child will turn into a nervous bully with a bad temper - bites, hangers, complete disregard for commands. A puppy must be educated persistently and calmly, with cunning, through play and encouragement.

The temperament of the breed is well shown on the video from our channel:

Here, the baby plays with the owner cheerfully, but does not go beyond the controllability, does not hysteria, does not bark.

Attitude to people

Unlike the Pekingese, Japanese quins are more demanding of attention from the host. However, without obsession or painful dependence. The mood of the pet can follow the person from room to room or on the contrary, do not notice his departure. But all the reviews say that he does not like to stay for long in solitude - he misses him without his family.

Children up to 6-8 years old may seem uninteresting to the breed - the Japanese hin is moderately playful, does not tolerate coercion and rudeness, suffers from constant noise in the house. Too persistent child can spoil the character of the dog, unintentionally growing in him a tendency to cowardice or aggression.

Japanese hin will not suit you if

  1. In the family, someone against the dog. He will certainly feel hostility that will result in aggression, puddles on the couch and a constant demonstration of his "phi".
  2. Nervous atmosphere reigns in the family. These are not pampered pussies, but they truly feel at home just next to balanced people.
  3. The owner wants to see next to the "all-embracing". Chin is prone to mood swings. He is not always ready to caress here and now, and the excessive manifestation of emotions is perceived as an encroachment on personal space.
  4. Family members assert themselves by dominating animals. In this case, permanent conflict is inevitable.
  5. It is planned to buy as a glamorous accessory. Despite the miniature, he is absolutely not suitable for the role of toys for fashionable lady.

Older children will be able to build relationships built on mutual trust and respect.

Walking and socialization

It is easy to teach a Japanese Hin puppy to go to the toilet on the diaper. But when he knows how, walking becomes banal laziness. In this case, problems are inevitable - the crumbs quickly turn into couch potatoes, having difficulty changing the situation. The wayward character aggravates the situation: more recently, a gentle and sociable pet begins to bark at passers-by, shakes from fear at a reception at the veterinarian, runs away at the sight of dogs, becomes more and more closed.

Therefore, the pet must be walking regularly, ideally three times a day, as usual. This is quite a strong and athletic breed: you can successfully engage in agility, hiking, swimming - you should not overload it physically, but moderate exercises will be a joy.

Recommendations for walking

  • in the summer, one cannot stay long in the open sun, because the dog quickly overheats due to the short muzzle. Hins tolerate heat better than Pekingese and pugs, but you should not abuse being in the sun and training in hot weather,
  • when the temperature drops below -15, the pet must be put on a warm jumpsuit in overalls. The undercoat is poorly developed - the fur coat does not keep warm,
  • only a perfectly trained chin can be walked without a leash and only in a safe area. Young masterful pets forget the team at the most inopportune moment.

Regular walks are necessary not only for health, but also for social adaptation of your little one.

Caring for Japanese Chin is simple, but it must be done regularly. If you run the wool, then put it in order will not be easy.

Plicas are formed behind the ears, on the neck and under the tail, these places are combed at least once every three days. Entirely combed out twice a month, using the air conditioner. First, a massage brush with no "droplets" on the teeth, and then a single comb. If the dog is not show, it is better to shorten the hair around the anus.

Wool sheds seasonally, in spring and autumn, you need to be ready for this and during these periods, comb daily.

Bathe every three weeks, in the winter less often. It is not recommended to wash Hina with human shampoos - the wool can become dull and brittle, and in severe cases it can be very thin. If the white hairs are yellowed, apply a whitening shampoo.

After bathing, when necessary, you need to pull the wool out of your ears - a hanging ear and plenty of fluff in the ear canal often provoke otitis due to the accumulation of sulfur. Moisture and dirt accumulated on the muzzle (in the folds) are removed with a napkin (in detail about cleaning the ears).

This photo shows an example of Japanese Chin hygienic haircut, which can be done outside the exhibition season.

The eyes of Japanese Chin require increased attention. Round and slightly bulging eyeballs are easily injured. Dust and hairs climbing into the eyes often cause lacrimation. Dirt from the corners of the eyes cleaned with a gauze pad soaked in warm boiled water. It is possible to use any eye drops only after consulting a veterinarian - many substances that irritate the conjunctiva aggravate the problem. Traces of smudges removed with a swab dipped in a tool specifically designed for the removal of tear ducts (read about tearing down here).

The nose sometimes dries out, as in other breeds with a shortened skull. To avoid the appearance of cracks and abundant peeling, the lobe is smeared with petroleum jelly or a fat children's cream (thin layer). Do this as needed, noting that the skin on the nose is not moist enough.

Teeth - another "problem" place. Due to the altered shape of the jaws, the dentition is incomplete, in some dogs the teeth are crooked and quickly fall out when the gums become inflamed. Once a week, a pet needs to brush its teeth with a special paste, every six months - to visit a veterinarian for rehabilitation.

It is imperative to accustom Japanese Chin to all hygiene procedures from an early age, even if in some actions it is not yet necessary. An adult, given the difficult nature of the breed, it will be extremely difficult to force to quietly endure these manipulations.

Schooling to bathing procedures from shhenyachestva - a pledge of calm behavior when bathing throughout life.

Flat face - it is always difficulties with breathing and digestion. Many chinas sniffle and choke after running. Light snoring does not threaten health at night, but the pet’s breath must be constantly monitored. When buying a puppy, it is important to pay attention to the nostrils - they should be well open, not flattened.

It is risky to acquire a puppy with a frank defect of a bite, a twisted jaw or an incomplete tooth (the absence of a couple of teeth is uncritical). At such dogs at the age of 3-5 years, there are serious problems with digestion, smoothly passing into a bunch of chronic sores.

Small bitches have problems with childbirth due to the large size of the fetus. In addition, many females have weak contractions - they have to be stimulated with medicines or manually. The wide skull of puppies also does not add ease to the breeding process. However, quinas give birth more often in a natural way - they resort to cesarean less frequently than in the case of other brachycephalic.

Breed diseases

  • hereditary cataract
  • turn of the century,
  • retinal atrophy,
  • femoral head necrosis
  • dislocation of the patella.

And this is not a complete list. The owner must closely monitor the condition of the pet, not ignoring the changes.

That is why Japanese quinine on avito.ru or on the market can cost 30, or even 20 thousand rubles. - having seen such a price, the buyer should understand that he will not find a well-grown, healthy and purebred puppy there.

On the photo - Japanese Chin puppies at the age of 2 weeks (Yamatori kennel, St. Petersburg)

To reduce risks, it is important to acquire a puppy only in a well-known kennel - a competent breeder will never include genetically problem dogs in the breeding program. However, the cost here starts from 60 thousand rubles. On how to choose the right puppy on our website.

The history of the Japanese hin breed

Although the breed appeared in Japan, the ancestors of Chin come from China. For centuries, Chinese and Tibetan monks have created several breeds of decorative dogs. As a result, Pekingese, Lhasa Apso, Shih Tsu appeared. These breeds had no other purpose than to entertain a person and could not be available to those who worked from morning till night. No data has been preserved, but it is possible that at the beginning the Pekingese and Japanese Chin were the same breed. The analysis of Pekingese DNA showed that this is one of the oldest dog breeds, and archaeological and historical facts say that the ancestors of these dogs existed hundreds of years ago.

Gradually they began to be given to ambassadors of other states or sold. It is not known when they hit the islands, but it is believed that about 732 years. That year, the Japanese emperor received gifts from the Korean, among which could be hinas. However, there are other opinions, the time difference is sometimes hundreds of years. Although we will never know the exact date, there is no doubt that dogs have been living in Japan for more than one hundred years.

By the time the Pekingese came to Japan, there was a small local breed of dog, somewhat reminiscent of modern spaniels. These dogs interbred with the Pekingese and as a result, Japanese hin appeared. Due to the pronounced similarity of the Khins with the Chinese decorative dogs, it is believed that the influence of the latter was much stronger than the influence of local breeds. Why, there, the hinas are significantly different from other indigenous breeds of Japan: Akita Inu, Shiba Inu, Tosa Inu.

The territory of Japan is divided into prefectures, each of which was owned by a separate clan. This situation lasted from the time the breed appeared until the first Europeans arrived on the islands.

After a brief acquaintance with the Portuguese and Dutch merchants, Japan closes the border in order to avoid the influence of foreigners on the economy, culture and politics. Only a few shopping outposts remain. It is believed that Portuguese traders were able to take several dogs between 1700 and 1800, but there is no evidence of that. The first documented import case for these dogs. It dates back to 1854, when Admiral Matthew Calbraith Perry signed a treaty between Japan and the United States. He took with him six Khins, two for himself, two for the President and two for the Queen of Britain. However, only a couple of Perry suffered the journey, and he presented them to his daughter Caroline Perry Belmont. Her son, August Belmont Jr. will later become president of the American Kennel Club (AKC). According to the family history, these quins were not divorced and lived in the house as a treasure.

By 1858, trade relations formed between Japan and the outside world. Some dogs were given, but most were stolen by sailors and soldiers for the purpose of selling to foreigners. Although there were several variations, they willingly bought only the smallest dogs. They were waiting for a long journey across the sea and far from being able to withstand it. For those that got to Europe and the USA, they repeated their fate in their homeland and became incredibly popular with nobles and high society. But here the manners were more democratic and some of the dogs came to ordinary people, above all, they were the wives of sailors. Recently still unknown to anyone, by the middle of the nineteenth century, Japanese hin is becoming one of the most desirable and fashionable dogs in Europe and America. The breed will receive its modern name later, and then they were found with something similar to Spaniels and called the Japanese Spaniel. Although there are no connections between these breeds.

A significant contribution to the popularization of the breed was made by Queen Alexandra. As a Danish princess, she married the King of Britain, Edward VII. Soon after, she received her first Japanese chin as a gift, fell in love with her and ordered several more dogs. And what the queen loves, the high society loves too.

In more democratic America, hin becomes one of the first breeds registered in the AKC, this happened in 1888. The first dog was a male named Jap, of unknown origin. The fashion for the breed has declined significantly by 1900, but by that time it was already widespread and well known. In 1912, the Japanese Spaniel Club of America was created, which would later become the Japanese Chin Club of America (JCCA). The breed retains its popularity in our days, although not very popular. In 2010, Japanese quins occupied 75th place out of 167 breeds recognized by the AKC, by the number of registered dogs. By the way, the same organization in 1977 renamed the breed from the Japanese spaniel to the Japanese chin.

Japanese Chin Character

Japanese hin is one of the best companion dogs and the character of the breed is almost the same from individual to individual. These dogs were kept as friends by the most distinguished families, and she behaves as if she knows it. Khin extremely attached to their ownerssome are insane. This is a real sublise, but it is not tied to only one owner. Hing is always ready to make friends with other people, although he does not do it instantly, sometimes being suspicious of others. For decorative breeds, socialization is important, since if the puppy is not ready for new acquaintances, he can be shy and timid.

Japanese Chins need human society and without it fall into depression. Well suited for those owners who have no experience keeping a dog, as they have a soft character. If you have to be absent for a long time during the day, then this breed may not be suitable for you.

Japanese Chin Color

Colors strictly limited to the description of the breed, in fact, their two. Primary color is always white. Spots evenly distributed, large, red or black. In dogs with red spots, brown pigmentation of the nose and a clarified shade of rainbow apples dominate.

The white stripe from the back of the nose to the forehead is considered a breed trait and is an advantage.

    Japanese Chin Nutrition

Balanced feeding of a dog involves the preparation of a diet that takes into account the body's needs for proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and microelements. At puppy age, proteins and microelements are more important for dogs, in an adult dog the need for carbohydrates increases, therefore the diet should be adjusted according to age, activity and season.

In a global sense, there is three types of dog feeding:

    1. Natural diet - meat, cereals, vegetables, fruits, dairy products, eggs, oils, vitamin supplements.
    2. Industrial ration - dry, semi-moist, wet food factory production.
    3. Mixed diet (not recommended, although often used) - one meal of natural products, and the second of the industrial.

Education and training of Japanese chin

In order to train Japanese Chin independently with the greatest effect, create optimal conditions for classes:

    • choose a kind of delicacy for which the dog wants to carry out commands, but it will not distract her,
    • work in a room where there are no extraneous irritants and the dog can concentrate all attention on the session,
    • never work with a dog, if one of you has a bad state of health or is not in the mood for doing exercises,
    • each team work until you achieve its exact execution as many times in a row,
    • Constantly work to consolidate the acquired skills, but do not turn the classes into a uniform algorithm.
    • Play with your pet, get mutual pleasure from communication.

These dogs willingly perform various tricks. How to train Japanese Quin to obtain such an effect is described in detail in many specialized sources on training.

It is easy to teach a Japanese Hin puppy to go to the toilet on the diaper. But when he knows how, walking becomes banal laziness. In this case, problems are inevitable - the crumbs quickly turn into couch potatoes, having difficulty changing the situation. Japanese Hina vaccinations

Vaccination is carried out from the following diseases:

    • plague of carnivores or distemper,
    • parvovirus enteritis - the pathogen parvovirus,
    • infectious hepatitis - hepadnavirus pathogen,
    • parainfluenza
    • rabies,
    • leptospirosis,
    • coronavirus,
    • trichophytosis.

When to do the first vaccination puppy?

    • In 2 months, the first vaccination. After the injection of the puppy can not be washed, overfeeding and display on the street. Immunity after the first vaccine is developed within 12 days, this period becomes the most dangerous for the baby. A person needs a lot of effort to alleviate the puppy's condition. After the first vaccination, the pups have a high body temperature, general weakness and diarrhea.
    • After 3 weeks, a second vaccination is given to the puppy, but with the same vaccine. As a rule, after the second vaccination, the dog feels much better, but within 12 days it should be protected from other animals, from drafts and not walked out. After this time, walks are allowed.
    • At 6 months of age, a puppy is vaccinated against rabies and a comprehensive vaccine against several diseases. It is forbidden to vaccinate if the dog's teeth change. You need to wait for the time until all the teeth are replaced, and then vaccinate the baby.

    • Then, once a year, the dog should be vaccinated with the same comprehensive vaccine.

    How to vaccinate a puppy?

Before vaccination, he should examine the dog, measure its body temperature, and only if everything is normal, conduct an injection. Vaccination is put either in the neck or in the thigh of the dog. The entire composition of the affixed vaccinations by a veterinarian must enroll in a dog's passport. It also indicates the date of vaccination, then the owner himself will know the expected date of the next vaccination.

    Japanese Khin

K 8-9 for months the teeth change completely, and the bitches have their first heat. Male dogs are aware of their belonging to the floor much earlier, at the age of 3-5 months. By year 1, it can be considered that the dog is physically fully matured in order to have offspring.

How to notice the onset of estrus?

Approximation estrus can be seen during a walk with the dog. Behavior can change, often the dog becomes active, playful and disobedient, or vice versa looks unhappy and lethargic. A bitch makes frequent marks - odor "bait" for dogs, urination is more frequent. The loop is becoming more and more swollen, with pressure you can see the discharge of light pink or unclear pink. If you notice a change in the behavior of the dog, do not be lazy and check the dog daily for the arrival of estrus, kicking with a napkin or toilet paper loop at the bitch. Pinkish discharge and will be the beginning of estrus - mark this day in the notebook of the dog.

The flow of the first estrus in the dog.

    • The first estrus in dogs is not the same as the following.
    • It may be shorter or longer than the usual period of leakage.
    • A bitch has either only weak manifestations of heat, or, conversely, very heavy discharge.
    • The first estrus can suddenly be interrupted, and then after some time it can begin again.
    • There may be mucous discharge from the loop, the smell that attracts males, and estrus itself will begin after some time.

Try not to miss the start time of the first, and later the second estrus, in order to correctly determine the intervals between estrus, know their dates and duration.

    Precautions during estrus.

If you are not interested in receiving puppies from a dog, you should take precautions during estrus:

    • walk the dog ONLY on a leash: even the most obedient individual these days can just run away, not paying attention to the commands,
    • do not allow the dog to enter the dog males: in the case of sexual intercourse, dragging them almost impossible
    • on a walk in the literal sense of the word DO NOT DRAW EYES from a dog, even buying bread in a tent, exclude or minimize contact with dogs,
    • there is a danger of chilling the dog during the cold season, the best way to protect oneself is not to walk very long in cold weather and use dog clothes,
    • if your dog lives in free mode in your territory, then since the start of estrus, close the dog in the aviary.

    Knitting Japanese Chins

Actually mating pedigreed dogs is a laborious process. First of all, it requires official permission from the cynological club. His specialists study the Japanese Chin's lineage, check to see if the bitch meets breed standards, and give permission for breeding.

Before the onset of estrus in Japanese chin, you need to have time to carry out health procedures and make vaccinations. By this time, you should have a main dog and a doubler in case of failure of the first one.

In the first days they are bloody and abundant. This will be the starting point. Approximately on the 10th day, the discharge becomes almost transparent. This already serves as a reason to phone with the owner of the dog and agree on the time of the meeting.

It is best to invite an experienced specialist or veterinarian to mate who will help the dogs in case of manual mating. And this happens quite often, especially for the first time. If the mating was successful, and the dogs grappled with the genitals in the so-called castle, in 63 days a 2–4 pretty puppy will be born.

    Japanese Chin Pregnancy and Childbirth

Undoubtedly, the purpose of mating Japanese Chin was to obtain healthy offspring. To achieve this, it is not enough just to tie the dogs. It is necessary to provide the pregnant bitch with such conditions so that she endures and gives birth to healthy offspring. Therefore, if you cannot give proper attention to this, then it is better not to happen the Japanese chin, because there will be no way back.

The first weeks of outward signs of pregnancy and changes in dog behavior often do not occur. Your favorite will be as active and fun.

Try to give your pet less fatty foods and foods high in carbohydrates. From them, the dog quickly gains weight, which is also extremely undesirable for the normal course of childbirth.

In the issue of pregnancy of Japanese Chin, a lot depends only on you and your ability to care for a dog in position.

    Related breeds

Pekingese breed possesses enough complex, independent character. He is waiting for more time from the owners of pampering, games, care, but if the dog is not in the mood, it will snap.

Also their not recommended for families with small childrenbecause the dog considers himself the only object of attention from the person, and if the child is given more attention (which is natural for us), the Pekingese can simply become jealous. There will be nothing for the child, they will not bite him, but an unexpected puddle in the middle of the carpet, or things scattered throughout the room — easily.

But if you pay enough attention and care, he will be a faithful and loyal friend, a companion on walks, and an amateur lie down to soak up on his master's lap.

A bit of history: how did the breed appear

Regarding the versions of the origin of the dog Japanese hin there is no consensus. However, most dog breeders agree that the ancestors of the Chin (and also the Pekingese) came to Japan in the 3rd century AD from China and India. Buddhist monks brought them to the land of the rising sun. The first mention and a rather detailed description of the breed dates back to the 12th century, when envoys from China presented hin to the Japanese emperor.

Since then, it went so well that the Japanese hin breed constantly accompanies the high ladies, and therefore, in honor of the dogs, they even composed many fables and legends. They were also depicted in temples, on products made of porcelain, ivory, bronze figurines were made.

In Europe, the Japanese first hit the beginning of the 17th century - first in Britain for the wife of King Charles II, and then in Spain. But the breed gained real popularity on the European continent in the 19th century. And at the same time, it is quite widely spread in the United States. This is evidenced by the fact that already in 1888 the breed was recognized by the community of the American Kennel Club.

Significant improvements in the breed occurred in the mid-1920s, and by the middle of the last century several varieties were bred:

    • Kobe (large dog with a fluffy tail),
    • Yamato (medium sized dog with brown and yellow spots),
    • edo (the smallest variety).

Moreover, during the 20th century, the hin continued to be the favorite of the rich and famous - several dogs were kept at the court of the last Russian emperor Nicholas II, and Marshal Zhukov also had one Japanese.

Interesting. The word "hin" can be translated as "a jewel." The dog is often used as a pleasant companion and try to treat it with great respect. And it is also interesting to note that hin starred in the catastrophe film “2012”.

American dog breeders recognized the Japanese Hin breed in 1888.

Description of appearance: breed standard and photos

In the description of the breed pay attention to the essential characteristics of the standard:

    1. The main requirement of the breed standard for proportions is the same ratio of height at withers and body length (1: 1). A bitch is allowed a slight deviation - the body is somewhat longer.
    2. Height at withers about 25 cm, in bitches - slightly lower.
    3. Head rounded, rather wide, the transition from the forehead to the face is pronounced, sharp and looks depressed.
    4. Nose bridge very wide and at the same time short. The nose is in line with the eyes, black or skin tone. One can see rather wide nostrils.
    5. Jaws closed in a direct bite, scissor bite allowed. Teeth are triangular, white.
    6. Ears trailing, triangular in shape, fairly long, set wide apart. The coat is abundant - there are many long hairs on the ears.
    7. Neck short, unexpressed.
    8. Back short, without tilt, goes in a single line. In the lower back, roundness is noticeable, while the chest is wide enough, and the abdomen is tucked up.
    9. Tail lying on his back, covered with long, beautiful hair.
    10. Front legs straight, back - with small corners, decorated with long hair. The paws themselves are small, often with brush-like fur outgrowths.

In the characteristic of Japanese chin, it is important to pay attention to its color. The predominant tone is snow white, with spots of black, orange or brown. The spot goes symmetrically around the eyes, on the ears, and on the body can go both parallel and chaotic. An ordered distribution of color is welcome.

Attention. Solid white color, not black nose (in the case of black spots on the coat), shyness and aggressiveness - obvious defects that violate the standard.

    Character hina: intellectual and aristocrat

It was not for nothing that the Japanese Chin was accompanied by high persons: the character of the breed is almost always associated with aristocratic manners of behavior.

Japanese can be characterized by such qualities:

    • smart,
    • proud of
    • balanced, with calm manners,
    • friendly and active, but not intrusive,
    • furious,
    • very clean.

Japanese spaniels create a positive atmosphere around them - they bark extremely rarely and almost never show aggression. We are very happy to share the owner’s hobbies and his lifestyle: the Japanese character is docile. If the owner prefers a quiet rhythm of life, the pet will be an excellent companion and will also spend time mostly at home. If the owner is more interested in active rest, the dog will get used to walking with pleasure.

Japanese hin will be with great pleasure to accompany the owner on walks.

As for the attitude to other people, hin does not like familiarity. That is, it is better to meet with strangers only at a distance. At the same time, the Japanese will show unprecedented aggression in the case of a stranger’s uncultured relationship with his master — he will begin to spit, scream, hiss. It was noted that during outbursts of anger, the pet does not look like itself: it may incorrectly assess its capabilities and even pounce on a large dog.

Interesting. The owners note the intelligent nature of the Japanese spaniel. For example, if the owner is busy with his business and is very busy, the dog will not impose his company - it can just lie quietly in its place and wait for it to pay attention. However, the pet loves communication and a long stay in solitude extremely negatively affects his psyche.

    How to train a Japanese

Some owners have some difficulties in training. In fact, the Japanese are very smart and clever. He will not execute the command simply for a treat.

When training a dog of the Japanese hin breed, one should not resort to violence.

Therefore, during the training should observe several rules:

    1. The best encouragement is attention and caress.
    2. Not only can a dog not be beaten, but even to raise a voice for it - hin is very proud and will not tolerate such a relationship. Moreover, he may begin to mischievous and not succumb to dressage.
    3. Dogs are easy to learn and basic commands, and intricate stunts. But it is better to learn all the techniques in stages. At the same time, the commands are repeated no more than 5-7 times, otherwise the Japanese will get too tired.
    4. A sure sign by which we can say that it is time to stop exercising - the dog began to stubbornly act up and act up. Act against her will not.
    5. If there is a desire to teach a pet to a rack, it is worth starting this exercise no earlier than 10-12 weeks.
    6. Some representatives like the promotion of a delicacy, so among other measures you can try this one (but only as an additional one).

Attention. If the attitude to the Japanese is clearly unfriendly, and the owner allows even rudeness, this can turn into aggression on the part of Chin, and then the contact will be lost. Therefore, all gross forms of communication should be immediately excluded.

    How to care for chin

Hing is one of the most suitable breeds for keeping in an apartment. The dog is exceptionally clean and behaves intelligently: the Japanese do not like to spoil the furniture, climb into the closet, steal clothes. He behaves very quietly and nobly, does not take a lot of space, and for physical exercise, a small room is enough for him. As for the care, it is enough to follow a few simple rules so that the pet always remains beautiful and healthy.

Japanese hin is an excellent dog for keeping in an apartment or house.

    Grooming

Japanese hin sheds quite strongly, so the owner needs to constantly comb his wool. But the dog does not have an undercoat, and her hair is straight, so they are not inclined to mess with each other. Comb chin several times a week or even daily. During the molting, it is advisable to repeat the procedure twice a day, as well as to bathe the spaniel using a special shampoo. If you do not intend to participate in the exhibition, then in the summer period it is better to have a short haircut so that the pet does not feel too hot.

Bathe the dog as needed, but not more than once a month. It is better to blow dry with cool air immediately.

How to care for your teeth

In the case of chin, it is very important to teach your pet to constantly inspect and brush your teeth. Experienced breeders note that the condition and color of teeth must be maintained not only for reasons of health, but also in aesthetic terms.

Japanese Chinu brush their teeth with special paste 1-2 times a week.

The main measure - brushing your teeth twice a week. Use only a special paste for dogs (toothpaste for people is strictly prohibited to use). Chalk may also be used, although the effect will not be as strong. If deposits of tartar have already been noticed, you can use tomato paste or fresh tomatoes during the cleaning - they soften the plaque.

    Eyes and ears

The dog's eyes are very large (relative to the rest of the body and the muzzle), so they can get dirt and even infection. That is why the eyes are examined regularly, and at the first signs of the disease they are washed with drops (if there are symptoms of inflammation).

In normal cases, the eyes are wiped with cotton swabs 1-2 times a week (you can also wash with tepid water). Ears are monitored at approximately the same frequency - dirt is removed with clean tampons, washed with a damp cloth and wiped dry. Since the ears are hanging (the auricle is closed), they should be inspected weekly.. At the first signs of inflammation should consult a veterinarian.

Hanging ears of Japanese chin require special care: they are carefully inspected weekly.

    Diet: choosing the right foods

To raise a dog healthy and strong, it is important to know how to feed the Japanese chin.

First of all, it is important to strictly observe the feeding regime:

    1. Puppies up to 3 months contain 5 times a day.
    2. Little chin older than 3 months (up to six months) are fed 3 times a day.
    3. Starting from six months - twice a day.
    4. And if the pet is 1 year old, you can gradually transfer to a one-time feeding.

In the first weeks after buying a puppy, they continue to observe the diet that was used by the breeder. Therefore, it is important to ask the breeder in detail how he fed the small Japanese chin. Then you can translate into your own menu - while there are no strict requirements, because the dog does not have any special gastronomic preferences and readily adapts to different types of food.

In general, adhere to this diet:

    1. The basis of the diet - meat: raw beef, veal. If you give a turkey or chicken, then only the breast in boiled form. It is possible to replace 1-2 times a week with boiled beef by-products: liver, heart, lungs.
    2. Beef or veal is given to Japanese quinine meat.

A source of carbohydrates - boiled rice, oatmeal or buckwheat.

  • For a puppy, it is necessary to strengthen the diet with cottage cheese (only raw) and dairy products.
  • Among the vegetables are especially useful pumpkin, roots and cabbage. Vegetables can be cooked and even given raw (it is advisable to bake the pumpkin).
  • Vegetable oil in its unrefined form is beneficial in that it contains vitamins. Give no more than half a teaspoon per day, the course - a week, then a break for 2-3 weeks.
  • The main quantitative norm - at least half of all volumes account for protein food (meat), one-third for carbohydrate (porridge), the rest belongs to all main components.

It should be understood that a puppy is given a lot of milk, but since 4 months it practically leaves the menu - lactose has not been absorbed in the animal’s body since that time. From the same time, you can begin to give dry food, but it must be soaked in water. At the same time, the consistency of the food should not be too thin.

What can not feed the dog

Japanese Spaniel calmly transfers even monotonous food.

But some products can cause significant harm to this breed, so it’s important to know that you shouldn’t give quinine at all:

    • pork - any parts, including lean,
    • fat lamb,
    • sausages - cooked and smoked,
    • sausages, sausages,
    • ham,
    • any smoked and salted foods,
    • raw fish - any,
    • river fish - in any form (allowed stewed red fish),
    • wheat and its products lead to allergies,
    • all beans,
    • potatoes,
    • pasta,
    • any sweets, pastries,
    • seasonings and spices - any.
Japanese chin can not be fed pork and food from the table.

    Diseases: predisposition and prevention measures

The Japanese hin breed has quite good health, however, due to the nature of its structure, size and physiology, the dog is prone to certain diseases:

    • eye diseases (conjunctivitis, glaucoma, dislocation of the eyeball, cataracts),
    • heatstroke,
    • tracheal collapse (narrowing of the trachea due to softening of the tissue, which leads to significant breathing problems),
    • dislocation of the patella (including congenital),
    • stenosis of the nostrils (problems with breathing through the nose due to narrow nostrils).

The life span of Japanese Chin is 12-14 years. This age is quite possible to achieve, if you choose the right puppy and care for him carefully enough.

The main preventive measures are as follows:

    • regularly follow the eyes and ears
    • reduce the time of walking in the winter,
    • put all the necessary vaccinations and follow the calendar throughout life,
    • At the first sign of breathing problems and other health problems, a veterinarian should be diagnosed.

The strengths and weaknesses of the Japanese hin breed

The advantages of this breed are obvious, if we consider chin as a dog for a home apartment, a cheerful and polite companion:

    1. Spaniel is very obedient if psychological contact with the owner is established. Very responsive to a friendly attitude.
    2. The dogs are smart enough, and if you wish, you can even accustom them to the tray.
    3. Despite the fact that the Japanese Spaniel has snow-white wool, it is able to cleanse itself by the work of the sebaceous glands of the skin. The owner can only comb in time and periodically bathe his pet.
    4. It has long been noted that hin can be very finely adjusted not only to the character of a particular person, but also to his mood - thanks to this, the owner's mood always improves, even with short-term contact with a pet.
    5. Hin gets along well with cats and dogs, peacefully treats strangers (if they do not allow too close communication).
    6. Dogs are not noisy - they bark extremely rarely, do not run at night, prefer not to wake the owner or impose their society.

The disadvantages of the breed include weaknesses associated with the characteristics of the structure and physiology of animals:

    1. First of all, dogs have a very peculiar structure of the skull. The nose is located very close to the eyes, which is why breathing problems are often observed, especially in the winter.
    2. Japanese chin does not tolerate anesthesia - unfortunately, deaths often occur.
    3. The eyes of the spaniel are quite large, so they often get infections and pollution - but this disadvantage is easily compensated by constant attention and care from the person.
    4. Finally, hin very sheds - the owner must be prepared to constantly comb the dog and vacuum the carpet, sofa, and other soft surfaces.
Japanese hin dogs breed anesthesia, so surgery can result in the death of a dog.

Thus, most of the shortcomings are completely fixable - timely care, well-taken preventive measures practically guarantee that hin will live for a long time and will feel good.

Attention. Hins often snore when they sleep. Therefore, if a person has serious problems with sleep, increased sensitivity, it is better to arrange a bed for a pet in another room.

How to choose a puppy: tips experienced breeders

The correct choice of a puppy is very important, because initially the dog may have congenital malformations and deviations from the standard.

Experienced breeders recommend to pay attention to such nuances:

    1. First of all, it is important for the breeder to ask what he was feeding the puppy when he began to walk, what vaccinations he had set, and what kind of veterinarian he could advise.
    2. A puppy should be different enough active behavior, to be playful and at the same time not cowardly.
    3. Belly of normal size, not swollen.
    4. In addition, better well-fed than skinny animals.
    5. Wool is immaculately clean, shiny, uniform (in texture).
    6. Ears and eyes - clean, no discharge.

It is known that breed selection began much earlier than other Japanese breeds. Images of four-legged pets can be seen on old vases, tapestries and paintings - they were considered direct messengers of the gods. Japanese chin puppies were intended only for the imperial family and only since 1603 pets have appeared in other noble families.

    Color and wool length

According to the standard, there are only three acceptable types of color in dogs - white with black spots, sable and white with red spots. But in the photo and video you can see a variety of colors of wool of four-footed beauties. Non-standard colors include tricolor and chocolate (white with brown spots). Regardless of the color of the coat, the spots should be strictly symmetrical, but not mirrored. Japanese chin has a long beautiful hair, thicker around the neck, forming a collar in girls and a mane in boys.

    Size and physique

The Japanese Chin is a miniature square-shaped dog with a gentle constitution. The maximum height of an adult four-footed pet is 25 cm. There are two weight categories - 1.8-3 kg (miniature, it is welcomed according to the standard) and 3-3.5 kg. The back is straight and short, the chest is rather narrow, with a well-tucked stomach, and the neck is short, but set high. Feet - small, according to the standard must be present brushes.

    Pros and cons of breed

Positive reviews testify to the incredible cleanliness and high intelligence of dogs, cute character. Wool does not need special care, it always looks neat, which is easy to see in the photo. In Japan, hin is considered to be a doctor, they say that stroking a dog returns peace of mind to a person. The favorites are very quiet, do not impose their presence, but love to play with the owner. The disadvantages include rare manifestations of refusal from food and fastidiousness, as well as jealousy and resentment.

    Pet content

According to the description, pets do not require special or complex care - just fifteen minutes a day is enough. Attention should be paid to the eyes and ears of the pet, examining them daily. If necessary, the eyes should be wiped with a soft swab dipped in tea. You should also monitor the hair between your fingers - if it becomes too long, it must be trimmed. To feed the handsome is very simple - dogs are not picky.

Differences between Pekingese and Japanese Chin

It is believed that the Japanese hin and Pekingese breeds have one ancestor, and they were originally the same breed, but this has not been documented in any way.

However, Japanese Quinine is often confused with the Pekingese, and this is not surprising - after all, outwardly, they are very similar. They have the same small size, big eyes, flat face, character and habits.

However, if you put a Pekingese dog and a Japanese chin alongside, even a layman will see differences. Chin growth is greater due to longer legs. Wool is not so fluffy, but smoother and more flowing, apparently they are more slender and graceful. The peculiar coloring of the Khins also distinguishes them from all other similar breeds.

The Japanese chin is unpretentious, obedient and simple in content, but at the same time surprisingly kind, loyal and loving dog. If you surround her with attention and care, do not skimp on love and affection, then she will become the most reliable and loving companion for you and your family.

    Japanese Chin Clothing

In winter and rainy weather Japanese chin need clothes that protect not so much wool as skin.

Buying clothes for the Japanese chin is now easy. Many shops selling clothes for animals have in their assortment stylish and beautiful things for dogs of any breed.

    Dog Nicknames: Japanese Chin Names

Most people prefer to choose a short sonorous name for their dog.

You will have to pronounce the dog's name many times a day, and if it is too long, it will be tedious.

When choosing how to call Japanese Chin, you can use two methods.

    • The first and easiest: open a list of the most appropriate names for this breed and choose the one you like best.
    • Second: pick up an unusual name from other sources, for example, from mythology or literature, to name a dog in honor of your favorite celebrity or invent your own exclusive name.

    Owners reviews about Japanese Hin

I have a lot of quins, and I've been holding them for more than twenty years. There were other breeds, but the quins were always. The breed is imperial, and even Japanese. And the Japanese brought this little dog to perfection. There is virtue loyal, unobtrusive, educated and neat. And also, very beautiful. Everyone admires, looking at the long, silky hair and cute look. And yet, there are many questions about slanted eyes, because other dogs do not have this. In food choosy, but it's better than when a dog sweeps everything. Somehow respect for such an attitude to food. Very worried if the owner is rude, and may even fall into depression. This is not a joke, they are very sensitive to the mood of the owner, they can not yell. It is important for them to be loved, ready for anything for this. With other animals get along well. Even with big dogs, as they don’t climb to them with silly games and don’t run up on their own. They do not like when their children reach out and can nag, but not much, but to get behind. My pain did not bite, but the children immediately began to treat them carefully. For a tail to drag from under a sofa now do not become. And I'm calmer. AND little bark, which is nice.

Two months ago, I bought a Japanese hin puppy and still cannot get enough of it. Dog very smart, playful and affectionate. Since childhood, the puppy has taught the teams and she listened with pleasure to the teams, because at the end she was waiting for a tidbit. It is necessary to spend every day for 1-2 workouts, then she better learns and remembers. It is better to start with the commands: "crouch, lie down, place, head". Japanese quins remember the commands when you do not shout, but calmly speak and at the end treat the puppy with a treat.

Breed itself very clean. The Japanese hin breed does not particularly get dirty, it is believed that the puppies of this breed are very scrupulous, and do not particularly fit into the "puddle" of dirt, but try to avoid it. Wherever you go to the toilet, if you are constantly at work, it will not. The puppy chooses one place and will only go there according to his needs, therefore it is necessary to lay a small mat there. Japanese chin has medium long hair, so once every 3 days you must bathe your dog (puppy) and after taking a bath it is necessary to comb it, hin love this procedure. But do not forget that during bathing, water should not get into the ears, as this is painful for them and can lead to illness, and the worst thing is that the dog can not hear if the water gets into the ears. In eating dogs are not whimsical, but eat fresh cookies do not mind. By the way, my puppy's favorite treat. In general, for an apartment hina most that. They walk with pleasure, in winter they do not freeze as much as they are finely woolly. To be honest, the puppies of the Japanese hin breed are very grandiose and will look gracefully against the background of a glamorous girl who watches herself and appears at secular parties. And most importantly, these purebred puppies are quite a bit. Japanese Chinas are the best breed that I know and have seen!

    Choosing a Japanese hin puppy

    • First you need to decide what you are buying a dog for, will it become a home, sofa pet or show star and breed producer? It is simpler and not very costly to buy a pet in financial terms, dogs that are promising in the exhibition plan are more expensive and it is harder to buy them. In general terms, puppies of all breeds are divided into three classes:
      1. Pet is a pet who does not claim to be a tribal and show job. Usually puppies are sold with the condition of mandatory sterilization.
      2. Breed - a dog with good blood, but imperfect in terms of exterior. Such puppies are most, they are suitable for breeding and can give litter, which will be puppies of the show class.
      3. Show - a dog with great prospects in the exhibition work. Immediately make a reservation that it is very difficult to distinguish the show from the breed at puppyhood, perhaps even impossible. We advise you to avoid sellers, who immediately state that their puppies are guaranteed to belong to the show class. Experienced breeders buy show-class dogs over the age of 5 months, as this increases the chances of an adequate assessment of the puppy's prospects.

Quite often, breeders say that their puppies belong to elite blood and this cannot be true. The title of "elite" is assigned to the manufacturer, who has repeatedly received the highest marks at the shows and produced offspring, which also followed the stellar footsteps of the parent.

  • If you are a novice dog breeder and choose a puppy for a sofa, besides color and emotions, you need to take into account a number of nuances:
    • The development of dogs must match their age.
    • Chin puppies are more typical of children's fat than thinness.
    • Regardless of age, quins' wool should shine.
    • The skin should be clean, and puppies should not itch. Pay attention to the smell from the puppies' hair and the mother, it should be neutral.
    • Eyelids should fit snugly to clear, shiny eyes without redness.
    • Ears need not only inspect, but also smell. A healthy dog's ears are clean, with no obvious plaque and do not smell.
    • A swollen abdomen indicates a worm infestation or digestive problems (from which it can be concluded that improper feeding).
    • Diarrhea and vomiting are very disturbing signs.
    • Puppies in one litter can have different temperaments, but babies should not look depressed or show cowardice.

Ask the breeder in detail about the feeding and nuances of keeping dogs. Make an appointment for ongoing contact and regular advice on caring for your puppy.

The cost of Japanese Chin - the price of puppies

Prices of Japanese Hin puppies include:

    • the rarity and scarcity of representatives of this interesting breed, the Japanese quinas are represented in Ukraine with a disproportionately smaller population than a number of other toy-breeds of the 9th group,
    • the quality of the manufacturers themselves, first on the exterior,
    • secondly, the interesting origin of manufacturers is taken into account, which lines stand behind them,
    • in the third - the quality class of the proposed puppies themselves,
    • in the fourth - all the costs of mating (the cost of mating itself and the cost of the trip, if mating is traveling to another country) and the preparation of all necessary documents and footage confirming the origin and quality of puppies.

And even with all these components, the prices of puppies of Japanese chin do not exceed the prices of puppies that are numerous today and well-known toy breeds.

In addition, prices depend on the quality, color and sex of the puppy.

Puppies in litters can be of different levels for the quality of the exterior and this is natural.

The cost of puppies is divided into three quality classes:

    1. Show class is puppies, males and females, of a high exterior level and winning exhibitions or receiving high marks at exhibitions, not lower than “Excellent”. Males are allowed to breed only with an "excellent" mark.
      • Approximate cost of a bitch of a show class is 1000-1200 cu
      • Approximate cost of a dog of a show class is 800-1000 cu
      • The cost of hinov white-red color at the upper limit of the cost and above.

  • Breed class - bitches with a rating not lower than “Very Good” belong to this class and are allowed to breed.
The approximate cost of a Breed Class bitch is 800-1000 USD
  • Pet-class - these are companion dogs that are not admitted to breeding according to a number of exterior or physiology remarks.
The approximate cost of a pet-class puppy is $ 300-600. It all depends on gender, color, and the degree of exterior and other comments.
  • Conclusion

The Japanese chin is always in a good mood, he has an amazing feature to understand his master. The dog will be your faithful friend. With a special affection and love dog treats children.

A cheerful and lively Japanese chin dog loves to walk and play, gets along well with other pets.

Japanese hin you will not work, if a:

    1. In the family, someone against the dog. He will certainly feel hostility that will result in aggression, puddles on the couch and a constant demonstration of his "fi."
    2. Nervous atmosphere reigns in the family. These are not pampered pussies, but they truly feel at home just next to balanced people.
    3. The owner wants to see next to the "embracing the whole". Chin is prone to mood swings. He is not always ready to caress here and now, and the excessive manifestation of emotions is perceived as an encroachment on personal space.
