This is a relatively young breed of dogs, which was first presented to the public in 1876. She appeared thanks to a modest tax inspector, whose name was Friedrich Louis Doberman. It is believed that the progenitor of these beautiful, intelligent and strong dogs was the miniature pinscher, which the breeder just wanted to increase in size.

To achieve its goal, the Germans had to work a lot, crossing different breeds of dogs. It is known that not only pinchers but also smooth coat Beaucers, German Shepherd Dogs, Rottweilers and English Greyhounds took part in this process. There are in Dobermans and "admixture" of dogs, setters, terriers and pointers.

The result of the efforts of the German was a wonderful breed of dogs, which looks like a miniature pinscher, but with impressive strength and large size. The achievement of Louis Doberman was appreciated after his death, in 1894. From that moment on, his last name began to be called the newly bred dog, on the creation of which he had worked hard for many years.

Breed description

The Doberman Pinscher is a fairly large animal, the life span of which is from 8 to 12 years. It can be used as a guard, service and search dogs. The weight of the animal varies between 30-35 kg in females and 40-45 kg in males. The dimensions of the Doberman Pinscher are really impressive. Males of this breed at the withers can reach a height of 68-72 cm, bitches slightly less - 63-68 cm.

Dogs are distinguished by a proud and straight posture, as well as by their “branded” erect ears, which are arrested approximately at 7-8 weeks after the puppy is born. Usually this procedure is intended for dogs, which will subsequently be used for work, but for pets is considered optional. Moreover, it is banned in many countries around the world.

The coat color of the Doberman Pinscher is brown, sometimes with a yellowish tinge, and black, occasionally having a blue tint. Rusty red markings can be located above the eyes, on the paws, chest and under the tail.

The character of Dobermans, depending on their upbringing, may be different. Some behave with restraint and shyness, others are friendly and very sociable. Some representatives of this breed can actively respond to their smaller relatives and cats, chasing them, and vice versa, find a common language with them and even become friends.

However, despite such a different character, the Doberman Pinscher is always a loyal companion and a good companion. These dogs are completely fearless, so they always make excellent watchmen. Most of them belong to those dogs that drive the caught violators into a remote corner and keep him there until the owner comes. By this behavior Dobermans can be judged that they do not show much aggression even in relation to intruders.

The dog has a high intelligence, so the Doberman Pinscher training is easy and easy. The animal is very attentive, so it almost immediately remembers and begins to carry out the necessary commands. Contrary to popular belief that the dogs have a fierce temper, with the right upbringing, these pets are friendly and get along well even with small children.

Conditions of detention

It is no secret that such an active breed as the Doberman Pinscher, which is described in the article just above, needs space. In a cramped apartment, he does not belong. The dog will feel comfortable in a country cottage with a large garden.

Experts do not recommend keeping such a dog on a leash. It can do much more harm than self-interest. From this, a pet may not only lose its appetite, but also apathy, which is often accompanied by unreasonable outbursts of aggression.

When it is warm outside, there are no difficulties with the dwelling, as the Doberman can sleep under the open sky. However, with the onset of cold weather, it is necessary to take care of a reliable and warm aviary, since the short hair of the dogs cannot protect them from frost and cold wind.

Walks in the open air

Such a dog as the Doberman Pinscher, they are extremely necessary. It is necessary every day and for a long time to walk adult dogs. This is a mobile animal, so you can play with it, for example, with a ball. If the owner likes to ride a bike, then the dog is able to easily run next to him.

For a small puppy there will be enough short exits to the street or to the park, and when he grows up a little, he will be able to accompany his master during the morning runs. However, walking with adult dogs has its own nuances. For example, having met someone else's dog, the Doberman can show not only his curiosity, but also a certain amount of aggression.

Of particular importance is a balanced diet for puppies up to one year. It must take into account all the needs of a rapidly growing organism. Monthly baby feed fed up to six times a day. The daily ration should consist of 150 g of vegetables, 75-100 g of cereals, up to 500 ml of milk, up to 150 g of cottage cheese, up to 250 g of lean meat, as well as one egg yolk of chicken eggs.

When the puber Doberman Pinscher reaches the age of 2-3 months, the frequency of eating decreases to four times a day. To the above volume of food add 50 g of cereals and vegetables, as well as 100 g of meat.

At five months of age, a puppy must be fed no more than three times a day. The daily rate of food consists of 500 ml of milk, 150 g of vegetables, 200 g of cereals and cottage cheese, about 600 g of meat and one whole egg (once a week).

One year old dog will need 500 g of cottage cheese daily, 700 g of meat, up to 400 g of cereals with vegetables. During this period, you can add to the diet fish. It is given once a week and not more than 700 g. The last of the described rations should be maintained in the future.

As for dry feeds, they should not be interfered with natural products. At the very beginning, you need to decide what kind of food your pet will have. Dry food, no doubt, saves a lot of time and effort. Natural food is good because the owner himself can control first of all its quality. Dry food for such dogs is not cheap, as only super premium class food will be suitable for them.

Grooming and swimming

There should be no problems. Pinchers can shake off all their dirt from their straight and short hair. Therefore, on the part of the owners in this regard, it will take a minimum of effort, consisting only in weekly combing. This procedure should be carried out very carefully and only with a specially designed brush. You should choose not too hard, otherwise there is a risk of accidentally injuring your pet.

Ordinary water procedures consisting in rubbing the dog with a wet towel can be done once a week. Such a manipulation helps to moisturize the skin, remove its dead spots, as well as remove dried dirt. But bathing, involving the use of a special shampoo, should be carried out either as needed, or no more than once every 2-3 months.

Care for ears, eyes, claws and paws

You should always treat your pet with love and attention, and also take care of its health. Doberman Pinscher's ears must be inspected every week. To clean them, you can not use any sharp objects, as well as penetrate too deep into the ears. To remove dirt, sulfur and grease, use a dry and clean cloth made of natural fabric or a cotton pad.

Since Dobermans have deep-set eyes, mucus often accumulates in their corners, so they should be inspected every day. Having noticed such deposits, they should be carefully removed with a soft cloth. If you notice that they accumulate too often, and even with red eyes, you must immediately show the animal to the vet.

Claws trimmed once a month. This procedure is carried out with caution, since they contain veins that are very easily damaged. To avoid this, you need to try to remove only the tips of the claws.

The pads on the paws of the dog are the most vulnerable place, so they are inspected every day for cracks, splinters or abrasions. If wounds appeared there, they should be disinfected, as inflammations and even blisters can appear in their place.

Breed diseases

They are due to the particular physique of the Doberman Pinschers, as well as their active lifestyle. These dogs are rarely sick, but it is useful to find out about the most common diseases of this breed. These include:

  • Dysplasia of the ulnar ligament and hip department.
  • Willebrand disease. This is a rare genetic disease with internal bleeding.
  • Inversion of intestines, which is determined by the characteristic bloating.
  • Hypothyroidism, accompanied by unprecedented activity of the thyroid gland.
  • Loss of wool.
  • A malfunction of the blood vessels.
  • Cardiomyopathy.
  • Melanoma.
  • Cataract.

Sometimes excessive love and care of the owners themselves can lead to the appearance of certain diseases. Too compassionate of them often increase the portions of their pets, thereby causing them to gain weight and even obesity.

Owner reviews

Doberman Pinscher - this breed is not for everyone. About this in one voice say the happy owners of such dogs. They note that a big advantage of these animals is simple care for them. Much more time is occupied by their upbringing, training and walking.

Planting such a dog, the owner takes a great responsibility. In advance, you need to be prepared to spend a lot of time and money on its maintenance. But true love and attention will pay off handsomely - the dog will be intelligent, obedient, benevolent and not at all aggressive, but at the same time loyal and fearless.

How to choose a puppy

First of all, you must immediately decide for what purpose you need this dog. If you plan to perform with her at various exhibitions, you will have to travel around a large number of nurseries and, of course, spend a fairly round sum to purchase it. You also need to be prepared for the fact that in the future, almost all the free time will take the upbringing and training of the pet, as well as care for him. If the dog will be used as a guard at home or just a pet of the family, then the task is much simpler.

Choosing a puppy Doberman Pinscher, pay attention to such moments:

  • Pedigree. A professional breeder will never refuse to show mother puppies. If the dog has a good appetite and is not aggressive, then you should not worry about the health of its offspring.
  • The animal is at least nine weeks old. By this time, anthelmintic prophylaxis, primary vaccination, as well as edema and tail arrest should be carried out. The breeder is obliged to provide all the documents where there are notes on these procedures with the dates of their implementation.
  • The number of puppies in the litter. The optimal is the simultaneous appearance of four or five babies.
  • General state. Clean and shiny wool should be a little loose, as if for growth. Cupping wounds should already be delayed.
  • Character. Males can always be distinguished by their active and impulsive behavior. Bitches are more agreeable and easy to contact.
  • Weight. A puppy kept in proper conditions at the age of just over nine weeks should weigh at least 8-9 kg.
  • Eye condition. In their corners, as well as internal folds, there should be neither slime nor dirt, and the clear and attentive glance of the kid will indicate that he is in perfect order.

Characteristics of the breed Doberman Pinscher

Doberman pinscher - guard and working breed, a dog is a companion. Above average height, strong build, muscular, with beautiful complete body lines.

At the end of the XIX century, was considered the best police dog of that time.

It was bred in 1890 in Germany, in the city of Apolda, and officially recognized the breed in 1900.

The Doberman Pinscher got its name from the creator Louis Doberman. As an employee of the tax police, he decided to bring a new breed, which would be a reliable protection for the owner and his property.

Through long-term genetic experiments, with Great Dane, German Shepherd Dog, Rottweiler, and, of course, the German smooth-haired Pinscher, a new species appeared - the Dobermann Pinscher.

Thanks to the method of selective selection, the Doberman Pinscher acquired all the positive qualities of the breeds that were used for its breeding.

In many countries, he won great popularity due to the stable type of exterior and temperament.

Doberman Pinscher is a compact, muscular, square format, with an elegant appearance and proud posture.

It is famous for its great endurance, and is capable of developing great speed while running.

Doberman Pinscher is an energetic, vigilant, resolute, incredulous, fearless, loyal and at the same time obedient guard.

Doberman pinscher character

Dobermans pinscher is a friendly, obedient and hardworking dog. But like any guard, he is characterized by such qualities as a strong and firm character, combat instinct.

He is confident in himself and his strength, fearless, but at the same time he maintains a sensitive attitude towards others. Very devoted to the owner and the family in which he lives, loves children. There is an opinion that character and temperament are directly related to the sex of the dog.

Wanting to buy a Doberman - Pinscher, know that if you get a dog, you will have to become a demanding and strict master, because their impulsiveness and the aggression inherent in the breed will succumb only to constant tight control.

The Doberman Pinscher bitches are less choppy. They are softer by nature, and quickly become attached to the new owner. Its peculiarity is that the Doberman, when looking at a stranger, can boldly and accurately assess their intentions.

If the situation requires, he is ready to immediately raise the alarm, to protect the owner and his property. But at the same time he remains a loving, obedient and faithful friend.

From the beginning of the breeding, the Doberman Pinscher was used as a working dog, faithfully serving man. Today, a thoroughbred and trained representative of the breed has proved that he is also a good friend and protector for humans.

His wit and ability to train quickly made him a reliable assistant in the police and the army, where he appreciates speed and courage. Due to its keen instinct, the Doberman is a great bloodhound and hunter.

Doberman Pinscher Care

Doberman Pinscher - photo in the lounger

Doberman Pinscher is a smooth-haired breed, and care for him does not take much time.

Special attention will have to be paid to the puppy's hair; it must be regularly rubbed with a dry towel, especially after a walk in the rain.

It is recommended to bathe only when necessary, and always in warm water.

It is enough for an adult dog to wipe it with a special mitten, once a week, more often unless it is molted.

Pay attention to your pet's neck. In the place where the collar is located, dandruff may appear. To avoid this, wash your pet with a special shampoo, and add 1 box to the dog's diet. vegetable oil.

Ears 1 - 2 times a week, inspect. Do not use hard objects for cleaning or penetrate deep into the auricle. In order to remove dirt, grease and sulfur, it is better to use a dry wool or cotton cloth.

Trim the claws once a month, try to do it carefully, remove only the tips, because inside the claw is a vein and it is easy to damage.

Paws one of the most vulnerable places. Regularly inspect the pads in order to notice the appearance of cracks, abrasions or splinters in time.

Sometimes blisters can form between the fingers, if you do not notice during this, they can become inflamed.

In puppies, on 4–5 days of birth, the tail is stopped.

A bit of history

In the middle of the 19th century, one Friedrich Dobermann decided to breed a new breed: fearless, vicious, and hardy. He was not a dog handler or breeder, but worked as a catcher for stray animals.

According to one version, the goal was to get the perfect fighting dog. Fans of the breed do not agree with her and claim that Frederick wanted to get perfect servants from the very beginning.

For the first mating, he used “butcher’s” dogs (ancestors of the Rottweiler) and assorted old-German Pinschers who went to the Apolda tent (a provincial town in Thuringia, a small home). But the offspring, in addition to the desired qualities, transmitted excessive excitability and uncontrollability.

One of the earliest photos of the 19th century already makes it possible to recognize familiar features.

The first Thuringian pinschers (the earlier name) looked more like a lightweight Rottweiler. Dogs purchased at the fair were used to refine the appearance and straighten the character.

They call about a dozen breeds, including Beauceron and other sheep dogs, short-haired cops, Scottish setter, Great Danes, Greyhounds. Lewis did not keep the stud book, there is no exact data.

Application

In Russia, they are not widely used as a working breed due to their unsuitability to frost and character traits, which we will discuss below.

Doberman remains a working breed - according to the standard, tests for admission to breeding are mandatory.

They are used mainly where there is no large gathering of outsiders (here the palm is given to good-natured Labradors) and there is no need to change the leader. Interest as a sports companion is stable all over the world - here the characteristics of the Doberman are used to the fullest.

In our country, in common usage the name "pinscher", this name refers, by the way, to their exact dwarf copy, miniature pinchers. However, we will not be distracted, today we have prepared a complete characteristic of the Doberman breed. As usual, you will find plenty of first-hand information, owner reviews and a lot of videos!

According to the description of the standard, the Dobermans are muscular, athletic, without a hint of infantilism or weight. The top line is slightly sloping, the bottom is tucked up, but not up to the "aspen" waist. Height at withers 68-72 for males and 63-68 cm for females.

Limbs set straight, rear with good angles. Highly set tail is thin and long, with an elegant curve. The muzzle is wide enough, not heavy and not too narrow, the transition line is smooth. Mandatory wide "smile", opening molars.

Male show class from Frankfurt (pictured Duke vom Kleine Taschelamp)

The eyes are dark brown or lighter in brown dogs, the look is characterized as alert and tenacious. Medium sized ears in the shape of a V set high, drooping, adjacent to the cheekbones.

Cropped ears need to be put - a design from a wire and bandage. How to build a "crown", show breeder. Independent experiments are fraught with improper formation of ear cartilage.

For many Russian fans, such a “new” look is unacceptable (in the photo is a bitch of the show class Erato vom Siegel, USA).

Short thick hair adjacent to the skin "shell" - a hair to a hair. The standard does not allow the presence of undercoat, but some have it - short and straight, coarse.

Two colors - black (black and tan) or brown and tan. Carp may be rust-red or reddish. Color desirable saturated, clean and smooth. The boundaries between the main color and tan are clearly defined, without blurring.

There is a white Doberman species - a vicious type, subject to genetic mutation. Not only are these showy and exotic dogs not up to standard, they carry a whole bunch of genetic diseases. Photophobia, melanoma is just the beginning of a depressing list.

Therefore, krohotun.com strongly advises to avoid them.

Character and family relationships

Because of the cropped ears (they give a formidable, wary look), the character of Doberman for many turns out to be a big surprise! But if you look at it in its natural appearance, temper is guessed more accurately.

If with mentality and upbringing everything is good, then at home these are gentle kissing little kids. They are extremely affectionate, constantly looking for contact, love to caress and generally be as close as possible to the owner. True, they willingly obey only the leader, but are sweet and sociable with all the homeworkers.

It is not recommended to leave them alone with children: a labile psyche can in one instant “switch” the patient dog to the strict “tutor” mode. Others children, according to the owners, Dobermans either tolerate or frankly do not like.

As an illustration of family life, watch videos from the life of Dobermans at home. Cutting the funniest moments: sure that you are touched and laugh with us 🙂

Relationships with relatives develop in different ways. This moment depends more on education than on the inherent characteristics of the Doberman. There are many dominant males in the livestock, initiating fights with tribesmen, but this behavior is corrected.

The Doberman Pinscher breed dogs are incredulous towards strangers, many are openly aggressive. Expressed protective instinct can lead to an unpleasant situation. For example, the dog clings to the hand of even a familiar person who has decided to pat the owner on the shoulder in a friendly manner. Or it will hurt your leg, frightened by the suddenly opened umbrella.

This is a consequence of the lightning reaction, coupled with excitability and a desire to protect the flock from any danger. A feature that must always be remembered!

Intelligent and neat dog fits well into any interior 🙂

Upbringing and training

Cruelty, drill and tedious repetition in home training Doberman ineffective. For a start, it is important to be able to establish close contact and earn trust. It is extremely important sequence and logic: for the same action today is unacceptable to punish, and tomorrow to praise.

The little puppy is a clot of endless energy, a bully and an unsurpassed sly. He easily manipulates the overly soft master, quietly winning a place higher in the family hierarchy.

In the future, such a tiny one will surely turn into an uncontrollable masterful dog. And then he "all of a sudden" suddenly shows aggression towards family members.

But this character trait can and should be used for the benefit - the kid can easily be involved in an interesting game, during which he will learn the basic commands. The first lessons should be held strictly in a relaxed atmosphere of a familiar place, after active running around.

Big Ring, IPO, ZKS - here the hero of our description equally competes with Malinois and German Shepherd Dog.

For the correct formation of the psyche is extremely important early comprehensive socialization. Up to two years (growing up later), it is important to walk a lot in unfamiliar places, to accustom the pet to calmly treat strangers and dogs, loud sounds, foreign smells, and trips in transport.

With obstinate and openly dominant individuals, mechanical methods of punishment are permissible (to press to the floor, to pull the withers, to pull the leash). But here it is important to guess the character of Doberman. Excessive rigidity can lead to reinforcement of cowardly-aggressive behavior.

The best option - regardless of the nature of the pet and personal success, take courses early or UGS (controlled city dog). In some nurseries, this is a prerequisite for the purchase.

It was impossible in this article not to show what her hero is capable of in defense. Watch the video of Doberman’s IPO competition in Austria on our channel.

Owner Requirements

  1. The equilibrium of all family members. Next to a nervous person, a puppy will certainly grow up nervous, excitable,
  2. Positive attitude. It will help to easily survive all the pranks of the crumbs and difficulties that will be faced in the process of training,
  3. Physical strength, not to bail before a dominant dog and, if necessary, be able to disperse a dog fight,
  4. Endurance and free time, as Doberman Pinscher requires regular loads,
  5. Dog experience and the ability (time, money, desire), if necessary, seek help from a dog handler.

About such a characteristic as heredity, too, can not be forgotten. Choosing a nursery, focus on workers, not exhibition diplomas. If an aggressive bitch is taken away or not shown at all, refuse to look at the litter Unstable psyche is likely to be transmitted to offspring!

Content Features

The biggest difficulty in caring for Doberman is to correctly calculate physical exertion. A puppy should not grow on the couch, but it should not be overloaded (ligaments and joints suffer). Ideal option - to engage in any sport (almost any direction is suitable) in the company of experienced owners and their dogs.

Regular active walks are required. Dog with affectionate character will enjoy the walk in the forest or to the water, from accompanying the owner-skier, cyclist, tourist.

And in the slush clothes will protect not only from dirt, but also from chemical reagents, which are sprinkled on the streets.

If the ears are cropped, you need a hat or a jumpsuit with a hood, otherwise the thin tips will freeze and fall off. White wool grows on the damaged tissue and remains so for life. Before the shows, the "graying" tips of the ears are tinted. But it is better not to allow this - frostbite is extremely painful and often leads to chronic seasonal otitis.

At home, the main problem is the love of door handles, furniture upholstery, household items and other property. Bored Doberman is able to gobble up literally everything! And then how lucky, from mild frustration to operations and even death.

Doberman can cause such destruction every day. Until you get down to business.

At first, it is important to maintain order and give the puppy a lot of interesting toys, a variety of different - ropes, rubber, wooden, logic puzzles (with which they do an excellent job).

Keeping in a cell around the clock will not help: with the loss of family contact, Doberman’s behavior only worsens. But active games, competent training and sufficient loads will help relieve tension and instill good manners.

Another point is the habit of putting the paws on your knees and / or threshing the feet of the host with your paw in an attempt to draw attention to yourself. Such behavior must be stopped immediately and rigidly, otherwise torn clothes and bruises on the legs will become a permanent phenomenon.

Grooming

In general, everything is simple, not counting the molt. Short coat with a dog in the maintenance of Doberman in the apartment pours constantly! In the spring comes a real nightmare - "needles" in clothes, furniture, in the soup ...

Breeders recommend combing your pet at least three times a week. And still to vacuum, at first having accustomed the kid to this procedure through game and a delicacy. If you can avoid a strong fright, an adult dog will be happy to flop on the floor, substituting the sides and stomach under the brush.

Since the Doberman Pinscher's hair is short, it is quite difficult to comb it out qualitatively - hairs slip between the teeth. It is advisable to use a rubber or metal groomer.

Rubber groomer must necessarily be with a triangular teeth fence, as in the photo above. The usual "mitten" will not work.

And below - a metal groomer in the form of a loop, great for combing Dobermans. But you need to ask the breeder to show how to hold it correctly in order to grab hair and not scratch the skin.

If the dog is an exhibition, in the summer you will have to take care of the pigment - wool will quickly fade, and the tinted shampoos do not work well. Pylevikov from light, light cloth, carrots and kelp in the diet, on sunny days avoid long walks in open areas. Bathing as necessary.

Breed flaws

Analyzing reviews of Doberman owners, you can make a list of their most serious drawbacks. Important note: the situation is assessed from the point of view of the ordinary owner.

  • short coat - inconvenient for keeping in an aviary,
  • attachment to the owner - insubordination when changing the lead,
  • low threshold of excitability - undesirable reactions to distracting factors in the process of training,
  • congenital cowardice of a significant part of the livestock as a result of labile nervous system,
  • propensity to dominate - instead of directed training, one has to spend time on breaking the character.

It will depend on you who will live with you: an inadequate, dangerous to society beast, or a controlled friend.

Genetically healthy puppy with proper care and nutrition will grow into a strong dog, characterized by enviable health to a very old age. But, unfortunately, there are a lot of hereditary diseases in the breed. The most common:

  • hip / elbow dysplasia, fibrous dysplasia,
  • panostitis (intermittent claudication)
  • Wobbler syndrome (chronic dislocation / subluxation, cervical dislocation)

All ills are serious, not always treatable.

No matter how adorable Doberman puppies are, carefully check their parents!

Choosing and buying a puppy

It is necessary to approach the choice of the nursery extremely responsibly, taking into account all the characteristics. Parents of the litter should be tested, the breeder should provide you with the results of the manufacturer's working checks.

Often monobreed shows are held where you can watch dogs and talk with breeders. You can buy a Doberman puppy cheaply: the breed is not very popular and prices, even for high-quality litters, are low. On average, the price starts from 30 thousand rubles.

However, for a promising show, or vice versa, a working dog will have to pay three times more.

The origin of the breed

The breed was bred at the end of the XIX century in Germany. It bears the name of its creator - Friedrich Louis Doberman. By the nature of his activities, he often transported large sums of money, so he needed a dog that would be the perfect protector against intruders. This dog has become a Doberman.

Among the ancestors of the Dobermans were terriers. The representatives of the breed also have the blood of German pinschers, rottweilers, greyhounds and German shepherds. There is a version that the Doberman Pinscher miniature served as the prototype for creating this beautiful dog. This small breed, however, is incorrectly called a Doberman, it appeared much earlier than Karl Doberman began to breed dogs. The first information about the Miniature Pinchers refers to the XV century.

New breed Doberman Pinscher was first shown at an exhibition in the city of Efruth in 1897. By the beginning of the 20th century there were about 1 thousand dogs of this breed in Germany.

The excellent service qualities of the Dobermans were universally recognized, they served in the police, helped to find and neutralize criminals, and carried out military service. During World War II, several representatives of the breed were officially enrolled in the US Navy.

In 1994, the standard FCI for the breed, compiled back in the 1960s, was edited; a blue and tan color was excluded from it. Germany remains the leader in breeding Dobermans.

Description Doberman Pinscher

Dogs are taller than average, they are lean, muscular and graceful. The slim silhouette is a bit like a hound, but the bones are heavier. The tail and ears are most often cropped, the wool is short, shiny, smooth.

A balanced temperament allows the Dobermans to master any activity perfectly.

They make excellent guards, bodyguards, snoops.

Even if you meet a mini Doberman Pinscher on a walk, try not to annoy him. The dog has a bold character and can stand up for himself and his owner.

Lifespan

The maximum lifespan of Dobermans is 16 years. Dogs have good health; they should be vaccinated against rabies and various infections.

All other non-contagious diseases are associated with malnutrition. If the dog is not very active, his coat is dull, his eyes turn sour, the chair is not formed, the muscles are not well developed - these are all manifestations of malnutrition.

The purpose and character of the dog

Each Doberman has his own temperament, with proper training and upbringing, the dog is excellent for living in a family, gets along well with children. It is important to choose a decent breeder and buy a puppy with a good pedigree - the character of an adult dog depends on heredity.

In our days, Dobermans are often kept as companion dogs, pets. With proper training, they can be good advocates. Unmotivated aggression towards other people and animals in trained dogs is absent.

The character of the Doberman Pinscher dog is vigilant. The animal is always on its guard, closely watching everything that happens and in case of a threat to the life of the owner or his property, immediately comes to the rescue.

Content, care and feeding

In a small apartment to keep such a dog is difficult, it is quite large. When kept in a country house, a pet can throw out its irrepressible energy in a fenced yard. Sometimes Doberman knocks elbows, there are bald spots, so you need to frequently change the litter.

It is very convenient to feed Doberman with dry food, preferring products of premium and superpremium class. They are expensive, but more useful than the economy class feed.

Experts do not recommend mixing organic food and dry food, so as not to disturb the balance of nutrients. If the dog has health problems, the veterinarian will help you choose a special food.

Some owners choose natural dog food.

  • About 50% of the dog's diet in this case should be low-fat, lean meat (chicken, beef).
  • Useful meat by-products (liver, scar), fish (boiled, boneless, 1 - 2 times a week).
  • Low-fat cottage cheese can be given daily, boiled soft-boiled egg, 2 times a week.
  • Another 20% of the ration is cereals: oatmeal or rice porridge, sometimes buckwheat.
  • The dog is useful fruits (apples) and vegetables - cauliflower, carrots, beets, parsley with dill, they must be 30% of the diet daily.

You can not give:

  • pork,
  • sausage,
  • tubular bones of a bird
  • mashed potatoes and bread
  • bow,
  • sorrel,
  • white and red cabbage,
  • alcohol,
  • chocolate,
  • raisins,
  • banana and peach,
  • milk (you can only up to 4 months).

An adult dog is fed 1 - 2 times a day half an hour after the walk.

Docking ears and tail

Doberman puppies have hanging ears. Previously, they were stopped in 1.5 - 2 months, then they were wound up, and a “crown” was worn for about a year until the ear cartilage became stronger. The tail of up to 2 vertebra was also cropped.

Since 2016, animals with cropped ears and tails can not participate in European exhibitions. Breeders have to get used to the new standards.

Hygiene and walking

Caring for a dog is minimal. The coat is straight and short. If it is very cold outside, it is advisable to take a Doberman to walk in dog clothes.

Most Dobermans do not like water, so you should not force a pet to swim in a reservoir in the summer. On the day of a dog must pass an average of 5 km. If you close it at home for a long time without walking, there will be a pogrom in the apartment.

The dog is very active and emotional and often suffers from it. Seeing a bird, can easily run out on the road. After a course of general training, it becomes more obedient. But for walks, it is advisable to choose a place quieter, where not many people.

Doberman Pinscher Training

Dobermans are trained remarkably and are considered one of the smartest breeds on Earth.

To teach how to execute commands, the dog must be interested - to reinforce the correct behavior with delicacy.

Doberman chooses one master for himself. It is important that the pet recognizes the master's authority, otherwise it will begin to dictate its living conditions in the apartment, and it will be very difficult to cope with it. With the help of training, you can adjust the behavior of the Doberman, but the priority should be mutual understanding between the owner and the dog.

It is necessary that there is no contradiction in raising a dog - prohibitions must be consistent. Unpleasant behavioral traits are most often caused by Doberman’s excessive emotionality, so education must be given a lot of time.

Advantages and disadvantages of the breed

The advantages of the breed are obvious. Dobermans are beautiful and graceful, loyal to the owner, intelligent, get along well with other animals, are the best guards in the canine world.

All disadvantages are reduced to the active temperament of the dog. This breed is not suitable for everyone - the dog needs to pay a lot of attention because it is very energetic. Inactive people, with a sedentary lifestyle, Dobermans are not suitable.

These animals have serious health complications. Therefore, they are not considered valuable and are sold almost for nothing. It is important to know this before buying a Doberman Pinscher. So, as there are breeders who can give a sick puppy for an expensive and healthy one, motivating it with the peculiarity of the breed.

Prophylactic agents from the birth of such representatives exist. Mutation occurs during the growth of the fetus in the womb. But experienced dog breeders are trying to make every effort to care for a pregnant dog to avoid the appearance of albinos.

History of origin

To get excellent watchdog psin, at one time breeders reduced rottweilers and short-haired shepherds. The Terrier and Pinscher also participated in the selection process. And soon the world saw the Doberman Pinscher. “In public” pet appeared in 1897. Then there was a dog show in Germany.

The pet belongs to those breeds whose name was given in honor of the one who bred them. So, the dog got its name from a simple tax collector - Carl Doberman. Very often, the debtors let the dogs go to the tax authorities. In the end, Doberman was tired of such an attitude and he decided to bring himself a defender. After watching the reaction of dogs that tried to scare him, he decided that he needed a brave and at the same time strong companion. But, unfortunately, Karl did not document which breed exactly he crossed. As a result, scientists still argue about the ancestors of the breed bred.

The resulting brood was very diverse. A couple of years the breeders decided to give a little nobility to the dog and crossed the pet with two types: Greyhound and Manchester Terrier. After that, the external data of the Doberman became more interesting. Their posture and stature became more elegant, the skeleton became stronger, and the silhouette turned out to be square.

For a short period of time after the "reincarnations" of pets began to use in the protection and hunting. In addition, the Dobermans turned into wonderful companions, everywhere following their masters. In wartime, they were even nicknamed military dogs or “gendarme dogs.” Then the Dobermans became pets and became members of many families.

Character doberman

The nature of the pet can directly depend on the education and communication with the person.

All that the owner will invest in it during socialization and will dominate the behavior of the animal. But some character traits that many have heard about are justified. Some lack of education in the dog is present. And this is most likely due to the incorrect maintenance and upbringing of the pet after the breed began to breed massively. You can often hear that these dogs are naughty and constantly bark.

Doberman will suit people who will find time for a pet. First of all, the dog must feel loved. The owner will need to provide her regular walks and workouts. Then the dog will become docile and obedient.

Dobermans pinscher are considered among the most intelligent dogs. By nature, they are active and very sociable. Because loneliness in dogs causes severe stress. Constant barking and disturbing behavior signals this.

Some pets are shy. Such Dobermans can make friends even with small dogs and cats. Although basically, the dog does not tolerate other “living creatures” on its territory.

In order to not miss the pet, you can get another Doberman in a pair.

All Dobermans are reliable friends. Virtually all members of the breed are bold and fearless. They calmly face danger and are ready to defend their hosts to the last. But scary stories about their bloody massacre of bandits - rather fiction. The dog prefers to drive the unexpected guest to a dead end and frighten him with his grin and bark, until help comes in the form of a host.

This proves that dogs are not vicious and bloodthirsty.

Doberman care

Care for dogs of this breed is easy. These pets have a short and smooth coat, devoid of a specific smell. Although despite this, they are prone to frequent molting. To maintain a neat appearance, you need to comb out the dead hairs every week. For these purposes, suitable rubber glove and a short comb.

Water procedures dobermanu rarely satisfied. Once a quarter will be enough.

It is very necessary to care for the ears of the animal. Cotton wool and cotton buds should not be used. The wand can cut the tender shell, and the remnants of the cotton wool can remain there. Because Doberman's ears need to be cleaned with a tissue swab dipped in hydrogen peroxide.

Regular brushing your pet's teeth will help you withstand dental problems. It is also important to remember to trim the pet's claws as they grow.

Doberman's food

Proper nutrition will ensure a healthy life for the dog. Feeding a puppy should be significantly different from the nutrition of an adult. So, small dogs (from 1 month) are fed 6 times a day. At the same time in the diet should be a lot of protein and fiber. Cow milk should not be given to a Doberman puppy, babies do not tolerate this product very well. Nevertheless, food for babies should be small and liquid. From 6 months puppies are given meat of larger pieces, vegetables and offal are added to cereals. The number of meals gradually reduced to 2-3 times.

For an adult Doberman it is helpful to eat a lot of proteins. Therefore, every day the dog is fed lean meat and offal (80% of the total diet).

Also offered to the pet: cottage cheese, kefir, soups, cereals, eggs, boneless sea fish, vegetables and fruits.

In the pet's food, you can add additional supplements and vitamins purchased in zoo drugstores.

If Doberman feed industrial feed, the need for additives disappears by itself. In the high-quality store nutrition, the entire set of trace elements necessary for the animal's body is already present.
