First of all, it should be noted that cherries are flocking animals that calmly and naturally feel only in a group where there are at least a dozen individuals. Single or few shrimps will hide in the thickets so hard that you almost never see them.

The content of a flock of cherries requires an aquarium from 5 liters (for 10 individuals). In a 30-liter tank can accommodate about a hundred of these crustaceans.

Neocaridins can live in a fairly wide range of water parameters: a temperature of 20-26 ° C, pH 6.5-7.5.

At the same time, cherries very poorly tolerate elevated levels of nitrogen compounds: ammonia and nitrites are fatal for them even in minimal concentrations, the content of nitrates is allowed up to 40 mg / l.

Therefore, in the aquarium with them should be high-quality biofiltration and regular water changes. And of course, in no case it is impossible to colonize shrimp in an aquarium, where the launch process is not yet complete - these animals are not suitable for pioneers.

Drugs in the water, where they live cherries, must be introduced with caution. They should not be copper, which is toxic to shrimp.

An important condition for a comfortable living cherries, and any other shrimp - the presence in the aquarium of a large number of living plants, mostly small-leaved.

Especially loved mosses (Javanese, Christmas, flame, Riccia), ferns (lomariopsis, Indian), as well as balls of algae cladophora.

Well, if on the surface of the water there are floating plants. If you have lush thickets in an aquarium with cherry shrimps, you can do without a mechanical filter, you just need to turn on the compressor at night.

It is very desirable that there should be shelters in the pond especially for these invertebrates. Typically, for this purpose use ceramic tubes of small diameter.

Reproduction and sexual characteristics:

The females are larger and much brighter than the males, their red color is more saturated, the males, respectively, are pale, with red spots on the body. Like other aquarium shrimps, cherries carry eggs in the saddle, then shrimps put eggs into pleopods (legs on the tail), periodically shaking up eggs and thereby removing unfertilized or dead eggs.

The gestation period of the female is 30 days. Usually females constantly walk either with the calf in the saddle or in the pleopod. It is not necessary to set the female into a separate spawning aquarium. If the aquarium is planted with plants, then small cherry trees will easily hide from the fish. And a year later, if the conditions of detention are suitable, the shrimp of cherries in the aquarium will produce a huge amount.

Since cherries are the result of breeding, they are prone to discoloration due to inbreeding (akin to crossing). In order to minimize the degeneration of the breed, pale shrimp should be isolated (given to friends, sold), leaving the brightest. The main thing is not to give all the males, as more pale =). Once a year to buy cherries of another divorce, thereby mixing the blood.

I would attribute the cherries to the most beautiful of the unpretentious and easy to breed shrimp. When buying choosing the brightest individuals, do not forget to buy a male, though an unscrupulous seller under the guise of a male can sell a bleached female. In view of easy breeding, the price of shrimp cherries is not great, but of course there are very bright, high-quality cherries for which you can request a tidy sum.

About color

The color of cherries is variable, and depends on many factors. Feeding, spectrum and power of light, the presence of vegetation shelters in the aquarium, potential threats, age, temperature, etc. The color of the environment, in particular the soil, influences the saturation of the color of shrimps; they look very bright on dark soil. Sometimes it seems that even the mood of individual individuals depends on their color. This is not surprising - the corresponding cells have the property to contract and expand.

If you put a suitable fish in a shrimp-keeper, for example, guppies - for example, cherries will necessarily react by increasing the color. At the same time, I met statements that the most saturated color is possible in the absence of a threat (for example, when live-grouts were removed from the shrimp). There are populations in which the males are painted almost as brightly as the females. To maintain a population of bright colors it is necessary to make a selection. When transporting from stress temporarily lose their color, fade.

Can I keep cherries with fish?

Yes, you can, if the fish is small and peaceful. In this neighborhood, the shrimps feel quite comfortable, but you have to be prepared for the fact that part of the newborn shrimp will go to fish for food.

In my aquarium, cherry shrimps live together with ternetium, cardinals and other fish trifles, but for crustaceans a special corner is organized, fenced off by a winding snag, set in small twisted shells and abundantly planted with mosses and ferns. The fishes in these wilds almost do not sleep well, and cherries live and multiply in peace.

Constancy of the environment

Despite their relative simplicity, cherries are fragile creatures, and abrupt changes in conditions for them are disastrous. Therefore, in the shrimp (especially if it is small - 20-30 l) are unacceptable:

  • massive water changes - more than 20%,
  • an uncontrolled supply of carbon dioxide, which can lower the level of acidity,
  • the simultaneous settlement of a large number of new inhabitants,
  • overfeeding of aquatic organisms.

Arrangement of shrimp

Cherries are quite unpretentious in content, content with small volumes. As an example: in my conditions, in a 20 liter shrimp fan, about a hundred individuals feel great, live and breed. The aquarium is heavily planted with plants, no filter. Once a week I change 50% of the water. With such a dense planting of the population, it is pleasant to watch them - something happens all the time. They feel comfortable in the presence of javanese moss in the aquarium, an abundance of plants floating on the surface. The optimum water temperature is 20-26 degrees. Maintain a range from 15 to 30 degrees.

Cherries and algae

A lot of controversy is underway on the destruction of algae (beard, thread) cherries. Opinions are diametrically opposed. My observations have shown that even if algae eat cherries, it is very reluctant. BUT! After the shrimps were settled in the aquariums, the floss, with which I had been fighting for years, disappeared. Disappeared altogether as a class! This is despite the fact that cherries I get good nutrition, hunger is not the sea. I would like to make an assumption based on the observation that the algae did not disappear at all because of their eating of shrimps.

For normal growth of algae they need several conditions, including relative rest. That is, "they do not like being disturbed." And shrimps constantly tread on them! They are like chickens, which, if released into the garden, in a week will turn it into a rammed, without a blade of grass, a platform. Or the same football players will trample a football field if they do not take care of him. So shrimp - just "trample" algae, not allowing them to grow and develop.

The other side of the medal - many aquarists, to whom my cherries fell, claim that under their conditions they feed on algae. I do not deny.

Do cherry shrimps need quarantine?

If shrimps are already living in the aquarium, then new individuals should be settled in it, of course, after quarantine.
However, the complexity of keeping shrimp in temporary isolation is that they will not fit the usual empty sanitary container.

In addition, it should be noted that at the end of the quarantine, when transferring cherries to a permanent aquarium, they will again have stress, they will start shedding, females will lose caviar. Therefore, if there are no other types of shrimp in a permanent aquarium, and new specimens are purchased from a reliable vendor, quarantine can sometimes be neglected.

HABITATION IN NATURE

Cherry shrimp is actually a color variation of ordinary neocardin, derived from the selection and enhancement of bright color. Neocardins differ by inconspicuous camouflage coloration, which is not surprising, they cannot survive with cherry color in nature.

By the way, neocardines live in Taiwan, in freshwater bodies of water and are distinguished by a rare unpretentiousness and speed in breeding. These were the first of the shrimp, which began to appear in large numbers in the post-Soviet space, but gradually they gave way to cherry. At the moment, lovers of shrimp brought out a whole classification of quality, which is based on the size and color of the individual, elite cherry tomatoes sometimes cost a lot of money.

In conclusion, I would like to say that the content of shrimp, especially in monoculture, unlike favorite fish, is a completely different rhythm, a different, but aesthetics compatible with fish and plants, another pleasure from observation and the joy of knowledge.

This is a small shrimp, rare individuals grow to 4 cm in size, usually they are smaller. They live for about a year, but despite the fact that there are usually a few dozen cherries in an aquarium, it is difficult to estimate for sure. The color of the name itself is cherry, especially they look bright in an aquarium against the background of greenery, for example, dark Javanese moss. It is difficult to say about some features, cherries are miniature and you will not particularly consider anything. How long do they live? Life expectancy is small, about a year. But, usually during this time they manage to bring a lot of kids.

Compatibility

In nature, neocardins are very vulnerable, the same thing happens in an aquarium. Small size, the absence of any protective mechanisms, only a disguise. But red cherries are also deprived of this. Even small fish can eat them or tear off their paws. Ideally, contain cherry shrimp in the shrimp without fish. If this is not possible, then you need to choose small and peaceful fish. For example: analysis of cuneiform, ordinary neon, speckled corridors, otocyclus, guppy, mollies. I successfully kept all these fish together with shrimps, and there were never any problems.

But who knocked ordinary neokardinok under zero, it is the scalar. A couple of months from the mass of shrimp, no one left! So avoid any cichlids, even dwarfs, and even more so the angelfish. Here the rule is simple, the larger the fish, the greater the likelihood that cherry prawns are incompatible with it. If there is no choice and you have already planted shrimp in the aquarium, then at least add a lot of moss, there it is easier for them to hide.

Content

Cherry shrimps are great even for beginners, the main thing is not to keep them with large fish. Cherry shrimps adapt perfectly to very different conditions and parameters. Neutral or slightly acidic water (pH 6.5-8), temperature 20–29 ° C, low content of nitrates and ammonia in it, that's all the requirements, perhaps. A small amount of shrimp can be maintained even in a 5-liter nano-aquarium. But to make them feel comfortable, a larger volume and a large number of plants, especially mosses, are needed.

Mosses, such as Javanese, give them shelter and food, as they trap feed particles. They also eat zoo and fit plankton, which forms on sprigs of moss, without damaging it at all. In addition, mosses provide shelter for shrimp during molting and young after birth, a large pile of moss turns into a real kindergarten.

In general, a bunch of moss in an aquarium with shrimp cherries is not only very beautiful, but also necessary and important.

An important issue is the coloring of shrimp. The darker the soil and plants, the brighter they look on their background, if they contain them on a light background, they become paler. Also, the brightness of red in the color depends on the feed, live and frozen feed make them brighter, and ordinary flakes, on the contrary. However, you can give special food for shrimp, reinforcing the red color.

Cherry shrimps are completely harmless, and if you see that they eat fish, then this is the result of natural death, and shrimps only eat up the corpse. They are active throughout the day, you can see how they move around the plants and decor in search of food. Regularly cherry shrimp shed, and an empty shell lying on the bottom or even floating in the water. You do not need to be afraid, molting is a natural process, as the shrimp grows and its chitinous costume becomes cramped. You can not remove it, shrimp will eat it to replenish the stock of substances. The only thing is that during the molt they need to hide, here moss or other plants are very useful.

What to feed? They mostly eat different microalgae. In the aquarium, they eat any kind of food, but some prefer food with a high content of plant matter. You can also give vegetables: lightly boiled zucchini, cucumbers, baby carrots, spinach, nettle leaves and dandelions. Pick up pieces of live and frozen feed, happy to eat food for shrimp.

Gender differences

Males are smaller and less vibrant than females. In males, the tail is not adapted to the wearing of calf, so it is already, and in females it is wider. It is easiest to understand the male or female while the calf is wearing the calf, it is attached to the legs under her tail. The female constantly moves and moves her legs, so that the calf has a flow of oxygen. At this time, she is particularly shy and holds dark places.

Breeding

A completely simple process, it is enough to create suitable conditions and put the males and females in one aquarium. Caviar can be seen in the female under the tail, it looks like a bunch of grapes. The process of mating shrimp cherries looks like. Usually after molting, the female releases pheromones in the water, signaling the males that she is ready. The males, having heard the smell, begin to very actively look for a female, after which a short mating occurs.

In which case, the female for the first time wearing caviar can drop her, probably due to inexperience or small size. To reduce stress, try not to disturb the female at this moment and keep the water clean. Usually the female shrimp cherries 20-30 eggs, for 2-3 weeks. Eggs are yellow or greenish, as they mature, they become darker and darker. When shrimp are born, they are tiny, about 1 mm, but already exact copies of their parents. The first few days they spend hiding among the plants, where they are almost invisible, eating biological tape and plankton. Special care is not required, the main thing that would be where to hide. The female after a few days can again bear a portion of caviar.

Transportation and adaptation to a new aquarium

The big stress for these animals is moving to a new tank. Therefore, if you purchased cherries, you need to transfer them to the water of your aquarium very gradually, for at least an hour, first dropping the bag with them into the aquarium and leveling the temperature, and then gradually adding water from their new home to the bag of their native water.

When shipped in a bag of cherries, you must put a bunch of moss or a sprig of small-leaved plants so that the shrimp can cling to them and not be shaken.

In the first minutes after the cherries are in the new aquarium, they usually behave very actively, swim in all layers of water. But this is more of a panic than the joy of housewarming. In half an hour, they will all hide in the thickets of plants, behind pebbles and under seashells, where they will spend the next 2-3 days.

The fact is that after stress and changes in conditions, the shrimp shed and, until they have hardened a new shell, try to keep in safe shelters. But it will take quite a bit of time, and they will crawl out into the light again and begin to frantically busy all over the whole aquarium.

Breeding

The breeding of cherry shrimp is not difficult and does not require any effort from an aquarist. If the conditions in the aquarium even remotely approach the optimum, very soon it begins to resemble the corridor of antenatal clinics - women of different degrees of pregnancy also step on it in the same way.

It is very easy to notice the interesting position of female shrimps. First, a bright yellow or greenish saddle-shaped receptacle with caviar forms on the back under the armor.

After fertilization, the eggs — usually from 10 to 30 eggs — move under the abdomen, where it remains until the hatching of the babies.

The female periodically shakes up the eggs to ensure their uniform development.

Kids hatch after 2-3 weeks already fully formed, their size is 1.5-3 mm.

In this case, their color, as a rule, more and more pale, and after a year or one and a half we will get a full aquarium of almost colorless litters, creating the effect of a stirring bottom.

Coloring brightness

How to avoid discoloration of the shrimp population?

First of all, it is necessary to carry out the selection. Cherry shrimps were artificially bred, therefore, in the absence of breeding, they tend to return to their natural, colorless form.

If you want to preserve the brightness of your cherries, young shrimp should be caught using a special trap (it is easy to make it yourself, for example, from a plastic bottle) and sorted by discarding pale individuals.

Secondly, in the population it is necessary to periodically add new producers, not related to existing ones. To do this, every few months is recommended to buy some shrimp (better from different suppliers).

Thirdlythe value is the diet. Brighter colouration of those cherry trees that feed on carotenoids (this may be specialized food for crustaceans or fish flakes and granules) or with spirulina.

Good effect on the color and nutrition directly aquarium algae. The live and healthy fouling of the cherries is reluctant to eat, but the algae that have been killed or weakened after being treated with carbonaceous algicide (Sidex, Easy-Carbo and the like) are very fond of.

Here, in fact, all the wisdom. If you follow these simple guidelines, the cherry shrimp in your tank will feel great and will quickly become everyone's favorites. And most likely after some time you will want to start other, more complex types of shrimp - good, now there is, from which to choose.

Cherry shrimp: features of content and reproduction

Cherry shrimp is the most popular shrimp among crustaceans that lives and breeds successfully in aquariums. The pledge of the popularity of this species of crustaceans is unpretentiousness, easy reproduction and bright appearance. This greatly simplifies their content.

Shrimp cherries are an artificially bred form from a wild species that lives in nature in the rivers of Taiwan. In nature, the crustaceans are almost completely transparent, they rarely distinguish small dark specks.

But the breeder through the selection of the most colorful individuals brought a new breed with a bright orange shade of shell and a length of 2.5 cm. The females of cherry shrimp, as a rule, are much larger and brighter than the males.

Behavior in the aquarium

These crustaceans in the aquarium are harmless for each other and for other inhabitants; they can only eat up the corpse of the fish after natural death. They show activity all day long, without hiding, crawling around plants and decorations in search of food.

Cherry shrimps molt regularly, and their empty shells remain lying on the bottom or swim in water. You do not need to be afraid of this process, because the molt is considered natural, because the cherry grows in size and its shell becomes small. Shrimp eats discarded skin to replenish the body's nutritional components. But when shrimp shed, you need to hide, as they become completely defenseless - great for that grass or moss.

Better feed

Some aquarists believe that it is not necessary to feed the shrimp separately when it is kept together with live plants and fish - they will have enough residue from food for fish, algae fouling and detritus. This is true, but sometimes the crustaceans must be supplemented with special foods to maintain the brightness of the color. For this, shrimp food is perfect, as well as fish food for bright fish or catfish sinking pills.

In the aquarium, the shrimp well take shredded tubule and live auloforus. In order for the active fish to not eat all the food, you need to lower part of it in the thickets of moss and plants.

Breeding process

Cultivation of shrimp cherry does not require absolutely no effort. Under comfortable conditions and with the required number of individuals of different sexes - from 10 to 20 pieces, they are able to independently reproduce and increase their population.

As the calf ripens in the female, she begins to produce special pheramonas that attract the male. Sometimes the chaotic movement of crustaceans around the aquarium indicates readiness for reproduction and reproduction.

Fertilized roe in shrimp ripens under the tail for 3 weeks. Throughout this period, the female carefully protects her, trying to ensure the flow of oxygen and clean water.

During the ripening of the calf, the females are distinguished by great fearfulness, to the extent possible they hide from unnecessary eyes and attention. Occasionally, due to stress or inexperience, females drop their eggs, so do not disturb them once more when the eggs spawn. This is the answer to the question why prawns sometimes do not breed.

On the light of the small crustaceans appear fully formed and independent. Only small body size distinguishes them from adult shrimps, and final puberty and coloring occurs in young individuals at 3 months.

Cherry shrimps in the aquarium - content, breeding, features

Cute small aquarium shrimp cherries are popular with shrimp lovers due to the relative simplicity in feeding and care, low prices and speed of reproduction. This species is ideal for use in aquariums with peaceful fish.

The body of 2.5 - 3 cm in size is somewhat elongated in length, flattened laterally and divided into two main parts: the cephalothorax and the abdomen. The first one is covered from above with a shell in the form of a pair of plates hanging on the sides and limiting large gill cavities.

The abdomen is a set of separate segments, some of which are provided with legs. The segments of the abdomen are movably connected to each other, due to which the body can bend in the abdominal side.

To move in the water, the shrimp uses sharp bendings of the abdomen. On the abdominal part of the cephalothorax, at the level of the eyes, there is an oral opening.

The body of the shrimp is translucent, the back is red-pink, paws, sides and claws are cherry-red, with small white specks, mixed with fine specks. The color of the whiskers can vary from clear white to medium pink.

The color of cherries is very variable and may depend on many factors. This is the spectrum and power of light, feeding, the presence of shelters of vegetation or a potential threat, temperature, age, etc.

The color of the environment strongly influences the color saturation, for example, on dark soil shrimps look intensely colored. If you put in the aquarium a suitable fish, say, guppy, then the cherries will necessarily respond by saturation of the color.

To maintain a bright color in the population, it is necessary to make a selection. Cherries may temporarily lose their color due to stress during transportation.

Gender Differences

Distinguishing females from males is quite simple: female individuals are slow, larger in size and richer in size.

Yellow Shrimp

coloring. The males have painted stripes on the back, sides and a little krap on the body. In addition, when animating in an aquarium, males crawl and swim in all layers of water. At this time, females sedately move along the bottom or along the surface of plants.

Cherries and algae

There are a lot of controversies on the destruction of algae (in particular, the thread or beard) shrimp cherries. Opinions are diametrically opposed. According to some observations, although, perhaps, cherries eat algae, it is very reluctant. However, after the shrimp were settled in the aquarium, the thread with which the endless struggle was waged for years disappears. It may well be that the algae did not disappear due to eating them with shrimps. The fact is that for normal algae growth it is necessary to observe several conditions, one of which is relative rest. In other words, they do not like being disturbed. Shrimps constantly walk on them, simply “trampling” the algae, preventing them from growing and developing normally. Although, perhaps, this thesis looks somewhat controversial.

Cherry shrimp in aquarium

These aquarium shrimp consume almost all types of food offered to them. It is very difficult to name the kind of food that they would refuse. Overfeeding should be avoided. Everything is suitable for feeding them with the exception of dry food, which contains a lot of protein, which is quite harmful for shrimps. Ideally use frozen on the eve of daphnia, artemia or bloodworm. Experienced aquarists successfully provide vegetable ice-cream food, for example, parsley, bell pepper, eggplant. Before serving, be sure to chop all the vegetables very finely with a knife. You can also give the leaves of some trees, say maple, willow or oak. But do not forget to dry the leaves thoroughly for seven or eight days before serving, and then chop them with your hands.

Cherry shrimp how to contain them and prepare an aquarium | Aquarist blog

| Aquarist blog

Cherry prawns as they contain and prepare an aquarium. Hello, dear readers of the aquarist Aqua-As blog. Today in the article I propose to talk about the simplest in content, unpretentious, but at the same time very beautiful and interesting in the behavior of the aquarium freshwater shrimp cherry Neocaridina davidi var. red or as they are called cherry shrimp. I will not be long and tedious to talk about the structure of the shrimp of their biology, the parameters of water and the like necessary for their content. It seems to me it is not very interesting, if someone wants, I think in more detail to delve into the study of these issues, I can easily find the information of interest on the relevant resources.

Let's better talk about how to properly equip the aquarium for the life of these miniature aquarium inhabitants. Moreover, our task is to create an aquarium for shrimps in such a way that they would not only live in it, but also multiply, because watching how the female shrimp bears eggs, and then for small shrimps is very exciting. It is possible that someone will even be engaged in the selection of cherry shrimps, this occupation is very interesting and unlike other types of shrimps that are more difficult to maintain and propagate, even an aquarist with little experience in maintaining a home water reservoir.

What aquarium need cherry shrimp.

How to choose an aquarium for cherry shrimp? In fact, everything is very simple. Unlike other inhabitants of the aquarium that can grow very large dimensions and impose requirements on the size, and accordingly the volume of the aquarium, in this case, you can start from the place that you are ready to allocate for the maintenance of shrimp. This is probably one of the few cases where you can recommend not to buy a container to hold the inhabitants as large as possible. Since shrimps will look more profitable in small aquariums, and you can see all the nuances of their interesting life much better in a small aquarium.

Cherry shrimp on the meadow

So, you have free space on the bedside table, there is no rack? It does not matter if the writing or computer is important, so that the surface is even and stable, the table should not stagger and walk. If you decide to put an aquarium in your workplace, an aquarium of 5 to 10 liters is quite suitable. If you allow the place and there is a free corner of course put the aquarium on 30, 50 or 100 liters.

Cherry shrimps are very undemanding to the content, but this does not mean that their content can be approached carelessly, like any living inhabitants they require simple, but regular maintenance. By and large, these shrimps can be kept even in a liter jar on the windowsill, provided that there is natural soil, live plants and water changes. If you don’t believe the confirmation of my words, you can watch a video about the aquarium and shrimps living in a 1 liter can here.

Aquarium for shrimp volume 5 liters.

In the shrimp tank 5 liters aquarium can successfully contain 5-10 pieces of cherries, and provided that this aquarium is equipped with a filter, for example, a hinged filter with a waterfall for nano aquariums, the number of shrimps can be doubled. Thus, we come to the question of the necessary aquarium equipment for shrimp.

Equipment for keeping shrimp.

Filter I mentioned its presence is very desirable, but not always necessary. In my 60-liter aquarium without a filter, there are about a few hundred cherries shrimp, but the aquarium is very densely planted with unpretentious plants, hatchlings and elodea. And the plants are really a lot, they occupy about 80% of the total free volume in the aquarium of a kind of aquarium jungle.

Heater for shrimp. Again, if the temperature in the autumn and winter months in your room does not fall, it is not necessary to set below + 20 degrees Celsius. Cherries are quite tolerant of temperature fluctuations and can withstand its short-term decrease. In my shrimp tank, the heater is not installed; at the same time, they tolerate quite low temperatures quite calmly. This happens mainly during the period when the central water supply has not yet been turned on, and it is already quite cold outside. There were days when the temperature of the water in the aquarium dropped, up to + 17 degrees while the shrimp underwent such a sufficiently low temperature without harming themselves. In general, if indoors happens, coolly put a heating pad, if not, it is not needed.

Lighting for shrimp.

By and large, than the aquarist will illuminate, the aquarium with shrimp does not play, no role. Here the main question is how to light up the shrimp, so that plants would grow well, in which shrimps will feel good. You can choose from both unpretentious aquarium plants, and contain more demanding species in shrimparii. But in any case, the plants with the content of shrimp are needed for anyone, and the thicker and more luxuriant their thickets will be, the more comfortable and safer the cherries will feel. In addition to a stable biobalance, which is achieved with the help of plants, along with filtration and systematic care, young shrimps will grow in the undergrowth, will sit out faded, and if other fish are kept in the aquarium from the cherry, the shrimp will always be able to find a safe refuge.

Lighting shrimp or can be implemented on both conventional energy-saving lamps and T8 or T5 lamps, there are options for lighting on MG lamps, LED searchlights or LED lamps, which are usually installed on herbal aquariums that contain shrimp. By the way, in such aquariums, shrimps along with small schooling fish look very harmonious and spectacular.

Decorations for shrimp.

As the soil for the shrimp better pick natural sand fraction of 2-3 mm artificial colored soils should be avoided. It is possible and necessary to decorate an aquarium with shrimps with stones using natural snags, you can buy them in the store, or you can prepare them yourself. How to prepare stones can be read here, but about the snags here.

Snags "desert tree"

Unforgettable also about the above-mentioned plants. Long-stemmed plants are better to plant a bunch of several stems, so that over time lush thickets are formed. Different types of ferns are perfect, many mosses, anubiasas and many other plants look great.

What to eat and how to feed the cherries.

There is no problem with feeding this type of shrimp, it can be any living, frozen food, flakes, pellets for aquarium fish, if you want to pamper these pets you can buy, special food for shrimps is great for every taste and wide range. . Cherry shrimps can do with pastures such as microalgae, remnants of rotting plants, etc. If you go on vacation for one week or two, you can not look for a person to “look after the aquarium and feed the fish” in the case of cherry, they will calmly leave your absence.

How to feed shrimp

If shrimps are kept together with fish, then you can not specifically feed them - the leftovers of food will be enough for them. Moreover, they are omnivorous - any food is suitable for them, even if it is vegetable, even animal, they do not disdain to be dry, they will not refuse catfish tablets either. It is a great pleasure to eat dead fish, shrimps, snails, remains of other living creatures, that is, they are a kind of orderlies in an aquarium. If the shrimp live in a separate pond, then, of course, they must be fed. They, of course, tweak a little vegetation (mostly dying off parts of plants), but this cannot be a complete feed.

I feed my cherries once every two days, alternating between animal, vegetable and dry food. Honestly, I don’t buy special shrimp food, as I have a lot of fish food and it is quite suitable for my cherries. I give Tetrovskie flakes, spirulina, shredded strawberry, boiled shrimp, zucchini ice cream pieces (can be boiled). The main thing is to ensure that the feed is not superfluous, so that it does not remain after a couple of hours, otherwise the water will deteriorate.

Often, beginners ask why their cherries are not so red, but simply transparent.

The life span of cherry shrimps is from 1.5 to 2 years.
