The choice of a persistent and prolific breed of poultry is an important issue for many poultry farmers. It doesn’t matter if it is a large or small farm, the main thing is for the breed to respond to the host’s requests.
Many people want the chickens to not only be excellent, but to be fat enough to be raised for meat. The Adler silver breed of chickens is a rare case when both problems are solved when choosing a single breed.
As you can easily guess from the name, the Adler breed was obtained by experts from Adler.
The bird has a great taste., she has a good weight gain, while egg production rates do not fall. Breeders spent more than 10 years at work, the year of birth of the breed - 1965th.
Description and photos of the breed
The bird has a beautiful silver color, the edging of the wing is dark. These are neat, commensurately developed hens, having a normal sized neck, cute copper-colored eyes, a comb that is proportional to the body, and a rather bright yellow leg.
The head is decorated with a yellow beak, red lobes. The tail is not too big, rounded. Chickens smaller, more elegant. In general, as acknowledged by many owners of household farms, the breed is very pleasant, pretty.
Grounds for culling: too long tail, large comb, excessively long and thin neck.
Temperament - calm. The bird is friendly, not aggressive. Many farmers note the docile nature of the bird of this breed, which is a big plus for the poultry farmer.
They can be bred both in industrial farms and in household plots, although they are more popular with farmers who do not have the most large-scale production.
Characteristics of hens: productivity, egg production
Adler layers are valued for their high productivity: more than 180 eggs per year (up to 250). At the same time, a large egg, up to 60 g, is light brown. The hen begins to rush at the age of six months. It happens that this happens earlier, which is highly undesirable.
In addition to egg production, another positive feature is quick weight gain. They can be grown as broilers.
- Weight of one year old layer - 2.5 kg.
- Weight year old rooster - up to 4 kg.
- Consumption of feed 120 g per day.
- Rate per day: 45 g of wheat and 35 g of barley.
Breeding
Breeding represents a certain complexity: the fact is that Adler hens are usually. no instinct nasizhivaniya. You may need an incubator.
To create the necessary conditions, the floor of the chicken coop must be lined with a special litter. Adler chickens require sand-ash baths, you need to take care in advance so that they have such an opportunity.
Do not forget that this breed may be characterized by early egg production. Your task is to avoid this so that there is no early loss of the layers. To do this, use the output of young animals in early May or artificially reduced daylight hours.
It is very important to provide the bird with good feed. They feed chickens and adult hens in different ways.
Feeding chickens
In the first days of life, boiled eggs are given to the chickens, then greens and pureed vegetables are introduced. Food should be given often, the first decade - every two hours. Subsequently - 7 times a day.
As soon as the kids reach the age of 4 weeks, the food is rebuilt: we feed them 3-4 times a day, give the grain (ground millet and barley), put a plate with gravel and sand, where we add lime additives.
How to feed an adult bird?
Remember the rules: feed the chickens 3-4 times a day (at regular intervals).
The diet is dominated by dry food. It is given in the morning and in the evening. In the afternoon, chickens should be offered vitamin supplements and wet mash. Winter feeding: try to do so to keep the wet food cold. Looking for vegetable supplements: greens, potatoes, pumpkin, etc.
Adler breed needs vitamins and minerals: they must be provided with bone meal, chalk, shell rock, and makukha.
Adler chicken is unusually disease resistant. If you provide your bird with quality nutrition, you can be sure of its good health. If an infection has come to the compound, then we treat the chicken coop in the usual way.
Advantages and disadvantages of Adler silver chickens
The main advantage of Adler chicken is its ability to adapt to the harsh climate.
Adult chickens are also notable for their stamina. In addition, the chickens are unpretentious, uncaptitious, fighting very rarely. Another plus is the unique age of egg production (up to 4 years). Birds of this breed quickly get used to the new owner, and cockerels are particularly gallant.
Disadvantages - reduced instinct nasizhivaniya, as well as the need for good lighting.
Many farmers give Adler chicken positive descriptions and the most flattering characteristics. Farmers praise high productivity, adaptability, excellent immunity.

History of the origin of the breed
At the heart of the Adler silver are the New Hampshire, White Russian, Yurlovskaya vociferous and White Plymouthrock breeds. The scientists of the Adler poultry factory in the Krasnodar Territory of Russia were engaged in crossing these species.
Breeding lasted more than 15 years. The main goal was to bring the cross in high performance and survival. Work began in 1951 and took place in stages. With each mixing of blood, the meat gained all the best quality. In 1966, the experiments ceased, a new breed was registered.
Works of breeders were not in vain. Adlersky chickens almost instantly went into production, followed by the people. Over time, the popularity has not only faded away, but also increased. Now in Russia and the CIS it is difficult to find a poultry farmer who does not know this cross. Farmers often speak of him as an egg-feeder, fleshy, which is important for domestic chicken.
Breed description, characteristics and photos
Description Adler breed, perhaps, should start with the character. For the nature of these chickens love even more than for productivity. The individuals of the cross-country are extremely balanced, trusting and friendly, they love communication and affection.
They are easily tamed, get used to the owners, like cats or dogs. Roosters and gentlemen at all - never go to the trough without feeding their ladies at the beginning. Adler residents quickly get used to the new terrain, willingly move, enter into games with man and among themselves. In the common court they are more likely to be offended than they.
Such chickens are very viable. Birds adapt to climate change without losing egg production and they can be kept for 3-4 years instead of 1. Unlike most modern crosses, the quality of products does not decrease as they grow up.
Appearance of chickens and roosters
The build of Adler silvery chickens is distinguished by its moderate muscularity. Average body size looks neat, graceful.
The plumage of the Adler silver is black and white, dense, smooth.
Here are the main characteristics of Adler silver:
- The head is medium with a curved light beak, round dark eyes, a red straight ridge, scarlet earrings and even lobes. The neck is not too long.
- The body is elongated, with a small tail, adherent rounded wings, pronounced legs. The back is straight, wide. Chest powerful. The stomach is well developed.
- The plumage is black and white, dense, smooth. Light - all over the body. Black - on the tail, partly on the neck and wings. The color is called Colombian. The absence of abundant fluff makes it easier to care for the breed.
- The hen differs from the rooster in a slightly smaller body size, more modest tail and crest.
A marriage is an external characteristic with a too fluffy tail, elongated braids, a bowed ridge, a thin high neck. High setting body is also unacceptable.
The hen differs from the rooster in a slightly smaller body size, more modest tail and crest.
Productivity Adler silver chickens
Adler silver chickens initially gave meat and eggs with equal success. In recent years, farmers have noted a drop in weight with compensation in the form of egg production growth.
The adult female gains from 2.5 to 3 kg of body weight. The rooster grows around 3.5-4 kg. The main growth occurs up to 1 year. For the laying season, 170-190 eggs of 59-60 g are produced. According to the latest data, a hen can give more than 200 eggs a year. Cream-colored shell, durable.
In order to increase meat, poultry farmers often cross Adlertsev and White Cornish at home. The resulting chickens already weigh about 1.3 kg at 7 days old.
For the laying season, 170-190 eggs of 59-60 g are produced.
Laying features
Adler layers normally start producing eggs from 6-6.5 months. However, the breed has ripened, and the first clutch occurs in 4.5-5 months. Early egg delivery often leads to loss of the oviduct and other diseases..
To avoid unpleasant consequences, the livestock of this age is kept in a strict diet and with a reduced light day to optimum puberty. With the same purpose, the withdrawal of young stock is expected in the summer and artificially supported reproduction by the resettlement of females from males.

Content of breed Adler silver
Chickens of this breed to the living conditions are completely unpretentious. With equal success, they can live in open-air cages and spacious cages. In the best way they feel when they are walking, but they also endure its absence with endurance.
Chickens of this breed to the living conditions are completely unpretentious.
For the best productivity the open-air cage counts on 1 sq.m on 2 individuals. The floor is lined with straw, sawdust, small gravel. First of all, the litter should absorb excess moisture, so it needs to be replaced regularly. The addition of moss and peat will keep your paws healthy.
Indoors of the house must always be troughs with ashes and sand, so that the chickens can bathe and clean themselves of parasites. Three more troughs are intended for dry grain, moist food and water.
For walking fit the usual garden plot with green grass, meadow flowers. The breed is very volatile, so you need a fence from the net and nylon about 2 m tall.
Adler silvery can take off high, therefore walking is fenced with a high grid.
Roosts in the hen house make standard ones - 20-30 cm high from the floor. The temperature is maintained around 18C, the humidity is not higher than 25%. It is necessary to install the nests for layers.
Feeding: ration features
Adler silver chickens are unpretentious in terms of food. They can eat everything offered, so the quality of the diet will need to be controlled by the breeder.
Adler silver nourishing ready-made complete feed.
Food must be nutritious, contain minerals, vitamin supplements. The more diverse the chemical composition of the food, the better the productive indicators of meat and eggs in the end.
In the diet of Adler chickens should be present:
- Dry and wet grain. The emphasis is on barley and wheat, daily portions of which are 45 and 35 g, respectively. Corn is given for the night, at lunch wet porridge mashes are preferable.
- Compound feed industrial for meat and egg breeds. It is given in the morning, sometimes a small amount is added to the lunch masks in a soaked form. It is not necessary to take broiler feed, because it will give weight gain, but will adversely affect egg production.
- Proteins in the form of boiled fish and meat rot, meat and bone meal. Are added to the mash with a small amount of salt.
- Any greens, vegetables (pumpkin, peeled potatoes, corn, carrots, fodder beets). The grass is mixed with dry grain, hung in bunches in the poultry house, add chopped into mash. Vegetables are boiled, chopped and put in porridge.

Food is offered 3 or 4 times a day at the same time. Leftover food is removed an hour after the start of the meal. Food should be lukewarm for better absorption.
Important. On cold days, the food is heated a little more so that it does not cool until the birds eat.
Feeders need to be washed regularly. Feed is given only freshly prepared. Water is always clean, replaced 2 times a day.
Care for the young
From the first days of birth, chickens are provided with round-the-clock lighting and heat of about 28C. Daily chicks are fed with a boiled egg, which is dipped semolina, so as not to stick to the paws. The next day, add finely chopped greens.
Chicks Adler silver keep in warm and dry rooms.
From the third day, they introduce some boiled grated vegetables, lightly sprinkle food with baker's yeast. Up to 10 days of age fed every two hours. Then reduce the number of meals to 7, connect the minced meat waste, vitamin supplements. From 5th to 10th day the light is turned on at about 18 hours, from 10th day to a month - 14 hours.
From 4 weeks the diet changes to prevent too early growth of the layers. The main feed becomes dry and wet grain (first ground), greens. The amount of protein is reduced. Food is put no more than 3-4 times a day and in smaller portions. At this time, you can enter the feed. Reduce daylight hours, reducing it to 8 hours in a few days.
Young animals are vaccinated according to the schedule. If the flock is combined, the chicks are already hooked up by adolescents so that they are not crushed. From the 5th day of the life of the chickens can be allowed for walking on a limited area.
The youngsters settle down to the adult bird gradually.
Appearance history
For the first time, birds belonging to this breed appeared at the Adler Poultry Farm located in the Krasnodar Territory of the Federation. There were crossed the white Russian hens, white Plymouth, New Hampshire, May Day. Breeding work began in 1951, and ended only by 1965. At the same time began a massive build-up of the population of this bird.
If in 1965 there were approximately 46 thousand of them, then in 1975 there were already 110 thousand, and in 1990 - 2 644 thousand. But at the end of the last century their number began to decline rapidly. It is believed that in Russia there are only a little more than 1 million.
Externally, the birds stand out for their wide torso. At the same time, they have a rounded head of medium size, a leaf-shaped straight small comb, a yellow curved beak, round eyes. The neck is of medium length, and the earlobes are relatively small and are colored red.
Adler silver chickens are distinguished by a straight and broad back, legs of medium length, small tail and wings pressed to the body. The backbone of the breed is well developed, quite strong. Their breasts are also wide. The plumage of birds is white, it is loose. True, they are distinguished by their black inclusions. Dark terry feathers should be on the wings, steering - on the tail. Also black painted braids.
Conditions of detention
Adler silver chickens are not whimsical to the conditions of feeding and life. The combination of good egg production, meatiness and ease of maintenance makes them one of the best options for breeding in homestead farms. They are well tolerated in both heat and cold.
But even with their content it is necessary to take into account a number of features. For example, it is undesirable for chickens to carry their first egg ahead of schedule. This can cause pain to the bird. The ideal period is from 5 to 9 months.
Adult individuals are unpretentious not only to the weather, but also to the living conditions. True, if they have no perches, and they are located on the floor, then it is important to make them a litter. The best option is considered peat - it is suitable due to its excellent absorbent properties.
Good owners should also ensure that chickens have the opportunity to “bathe” in dry ash or sand. With the help of such so-called "baths" they can get rid of parasites.
In order for Adler silver chickens to develop properly and grow quickly, it is important to correctly select the food. It must be correct and balanced. If in summer time free-range birds can receive most of the substances they need, then in the winter period the owners should take care of this.
Many poultry breeders are satisfied that it is the Adler silver breed of hens that lives with them. Reviews of people who grow them, do not leave anyone indifferent to these white layers. After all, they are very gullible. Chickens are easy to teach peck hands and run to the owner at the call. It is necessary to feed adult birds twice a day.
In their diet should be grains of different varieties. For example, laying hens need wheat and barley. You can also feed them with waste, pumpkin, herbs, potatoes. In small quantities, it is desirable that their diet includes shells, chalk and bone meal.
Breeding
To breed this breed without special incubators at home is very difficult. After all, the instinct of hatching eggs is not developed in them, 1 out of 10 chickens pass into the hen, but even this does not always happen. Therefore, there should always be an incubator at hand. With it, you can, by the way, get a very high yield of chickens - at the level of 95%. But on average it is about 85%.
Но с другой стороны, у птицеводов возникает меньше проблем с тем, как вернуть наседку в основное стадо.
Вылупленных цыплят надо держать отдельно от основного поголовья. Место для них выбирается сухое и теплое. With good weather, on the 5th day after hatching, they can be walked on the court.
Young hatching
In order to replace the breeding herd to bring new chickens preferably not earlier than the end of May. This is indicated by many of those who grow Adler silver breed of chickens. Reviews suggest that earlier broods may cause chickens to lay eggs at the age of 4-4.5 months. Such early maturation may have a bad effect on their health. Indeed, at this age, the hens are not yet fully developed.
Compliance with the above terms favors the fact that chickens will develop in the most appropriate conditions with a natural reduction in daylight. Ideal for home keeping chickens grown in this way. Adler silver breed is physically strong and hardy. But prematurely ripe chickens can suffer from prolapse of the oviduct, in addition, they are more susceptible to various diseases.
Eating young
When growing poultry, it is important to follow the established rules. So, only hatched chickens in the first few days are fed 5 or even 6 times a day. Over time, the number of feedings is reduced to 3-4 times. By this time, the kids should already be 4 weeks old.
Corn and wheat should be included in the diet of poultry under the age of 48 weeks. It is also desirable that they consume a significant amount of potatoes, herbs, carrots. In small quantities, they need bone and fish meal, shells, waste and chalk.
Breed specificity
Many do not know, but the chickens are well developed nervous system. Therefore, a friendly attitude to this bird is the key to its excellent mood, and therefore well-being. All this in a complex promotes good growth, development, increase in bird productivity.
Separately, many note the behavior of roosters of this breed. They can be safely called gentlemen. When feeding, they cry for all the chickens. They themselves begin to peck food only after all the ladies stop eating. They also come in when they find something tasty. This is what experts call one of the reasons that the roosters of this breed are not much more than hens.
Also interesting is the fact that they teach chickens to be born. They do this as follows. The rooster itself climbs into the nest and sits in it like a hen. After that, he begins to call the chickens to a specific “interested” cry. The youngsters converge with interest and observe the behavior of the rooster. So Adler silver chickens get used to be carried exclusively in the nest. They will not lay eggs in the grass, under fences or in other unsuitable places.
Breed crossing
Having received the Adler breed, the breeders did not stop there. They found that when crossing chickens with Rhode Island or New Hampshire cocks, you can get autosex offspring. He already at the age of day can determine the sex by color. In future cockerels, the down is light, and the hens are fawn.
This separation contributes to better preservation of chickens and more efficient use of feed. Young birds are more aligned in weight, and this greatly facilitates their processing and subsequent sale.
Features meat and egg chickens
Among the poultry farmers, the breeds of birds from which you can get double benefit are considered optimal. The combination of a good egg production with a fairly quick weight gain contributes to the fact that many people involved in home farming choose meat and egg chickens. At the age of two months, they usually weigh about 1 kg. In addition, they are distinguished by unpretentiousness to the conditions of detention and feeding. Although it is desirable that their diet is balanced.
Meat-egg chickens are distinguished by high safety of livestock and excellent taste. Now about 20 different species are popular, among them Adler silver, Moscow, Poltava clay, Kuchinskaya anniversary. It is important to understand that from each of these chickens you can get from 150 to 200 eggs per year.
Meat birds
If you want chickens with a large mass, and the egg production is not important to you, then the Adler chicken may not be suitable for you. It is better to turn your attention to large meat breeds. These include chickens Brahma, Kokhikhin, Langshan. Representatives of these breeds are called classic meat birds. Their homeland is India and China.
They became the breeding base for creating new breeds. For example, when they were crossed, the Jersey giant, Plymouth, Langshan of the English and German types, as well as many others, were bred. Cornish chickens have become commonplace. A mixture of two types with Plymouths allowed to get chickens with a huge growth rate, excellent meat qualities combined with low feed costs.
In just 7-8 weeks, chickens reach a weight of 2 kg. This is despite the fact that for every kilogram of growth there is no more than 3 kg of feed.
Adler silver breed of chickens
Adler silver breed of chickens is very popular among poultry farmers. It is noteworthy that selective breeding of a species lasted for several decades, and scientists had to cross birds of various species, but the result was really worth the effort.
Note: The appearance of the representatives of this breed is so unique that it is difficult to confuse them with some other species.
Figure 1. Adler silver chickens
The name of the breed displays several important concepts associated with it. The first purebred representatives were bred at the Adler poultry farm, and the prefix "silver", which is often used to describe the breed, displays the prevailing hue of the plumage of chickens and cockerels (Figure 1). Despite the fact that it is difficult to confuse an Adler breed with another, in the following sections we will pay special attention to the features of its appearance, so that when you buy you can accurately determine the individuality of a particular species. In addition, we will pay attention to the breeding work that was carried out for breeding the breed, because it is on this that the existing productive features of birds depend.
The origin and description of the breed
As mentioned above, the breed was bred at the Adler poultry farm, and the main task of the specialists was to create large birds with high egg production and tasty nourishing meat. To achieve these goals, the method of multistage crossing of many breeds was used.
Representatives of five species were used to create the Adler breed of chickens, and each of them took part in breeding work only at a certain stage.
Note: It is known that representatives of the Russian White, May Day, Plymouth, New Hampshire and Jurlovsk vociferous breeds were used for breeding Adler hens.
Selection work began in 1951, lasted for several years and was carried out in the following stages:
- For the first generation of the new breed, they crossed the cocks of the May Day with hens of the Russian white breed. Then, to stabilize the result, reproduction was carried out inside the obtained species.
- From the obtained offspring, the strongest and most viable chickens were selected and they were crossed with New Hampshire breed roosters, which made it possible to improve the indicators of meat productivity of the resulting offspring.
- At the second stage of selection, the most productive individuals were selected for meat indicators, as well as chickens, which were distinguished by the most attractive appearance. They were crossed with white Plymouth cockerels, which made it possible to further improve the meat indices of the new subspecies. Traditionally, the next stage of selection was accompanied by reproduction within the resulting breed.
At the final stage of breeding, the resulting offspring were crossed with the roosters of the Yurlov vocal breed. As a result, the first representatives of the Adler silvery rock in its modern form were obtained.
Figure 2. External features of the breed
The external features of the breed are explained precisely by the fact that birds of various species were used to create it. The main shade of plumage is light (Colombian), but the feathers on the tail and wings are black (Figure 2). Despite the fact that the breed belongs to the meat-and-egg direction, the birds appear to be small and compact, while the chest is wide and deep, and the back is straight.
Among the other external features of the breed are:
- The head is small, round in shape and proportionate to body build. The bill is yellow, curved, comb red, leaf-shaped, with five teeth.
- The wings are long enough, but fit snugly to the hull. The legs are average in length, but the muscles on them are well developed.
- The main difference between a chicken and a rooster is in a smaller body, a lighter head and a modest crest.
It should also be borne in mind that for the breed uncharacteristically strong development of the tail. It should be small and compact, so birds with overdeveloped tail or a ridge hanging on its side are subject to culling and are not used in breeding work.
However, the appearance is not the only feature of Adler hens. In contrast to representatives of other species, these birds can be kept for three to four years without loss of productivity, whereas for representatives of other species the optimum period of keeping is only one year. In addition, these birds adapt well to new living conditions, rarely get sick and quickly become attached to humans.
The only drawback of the breed can be considered the poorly developed incubation instinct, which was dulled in the process of selection work. That is why the young are removed mainly in incubators.
Productivity of Adler silver chickens
The Adler silver breed of chickens belongs to the meat-and-egg direction of productivity, since birds with good meat qualities and high egg production were used to create it. The birds are ready for slaughter at the age of one year, because by this time the weight of the males can reach 4 kg, and the chickens - 3 kg, but in most cases the birds prefer to keep longer than this age.
Note: The fact is that chickens retain a high egg production rate for three to four years, while the quality of their meat does not decrease.
Adler hens breeds are characterized by stable and quite acceptable egg production, as they bring 2 eggs every three days. At the same time, such indicators are preserved both at the cellular and at the floor content.
How to keep Adler silver chickens
Despite the fact that this breed is considered unpretentious, its content should take into account some of the nuances that will ensure high meat productivity and stable egg production.
Among the highlights of the breed is:
- It is common for chickens to have an early onset of egg laying, up to six months of age. Such premature development is undesirable, since it can cause a weakening of the immune system and a sharp decline in productivity. To prevent this undesirable phenomenon, use the method of artificial delay of development. For this, birds are restricted in feeding and reduce the length of daylight hours for young animals.
- Representatives of this breed can be called universal not only in terms of productivity, but also in terms of content. They feel quite normal in the cages, but higher rates of egg production and weight gain are observed when the livestock is kept on fenced range.
- Birds tolerate a decrease in temperature normally, but are very sensitive to moisture levels. therefore, the floor in the house must be covered with a layer of bedding that absorbs moisture.
It should also be borne in mind that Adler chickens are very clean, so it is imperative to leave containers with sand or ash inside the house or on a walk so that birds can take ash baths at any time (Figure 3).
Figure 3. Livestock content in the poultry house and on the run
The Adler breed is considered unpretentious in feeding, but to maintain egg production and gain weight quickly, it is better to stick to a balanced diet. In addition to the traditional cereal crops for birds, the menu should include vitamin and mineral supplements, fresh vegetables and greens. It should also be borne in mind that the diet of chickens and adults is significantly different (Figure 4). First of all, it is necessary to balance the diet for the protein component. The lack of protein can cause a lag in the development of young individuals, and adult chickens will rarely be born or their eggs will become too small.
In general, the breed can be called unpretentious in terms of feeding, but experienced poultry farmers recommend to add fish waste or small fish, meat and bone meal and buttermilk to the birds ’diet. At the same time, it is important not to allow an excess of protein, so these products give out to the livestock every other day, and not more than 30 grams per head.
Note: If you are not able to buy high-quality bone meal or other protein-rich foods, you can replace them with fish broth porridge. Chickens are very willing to eat such food, but you need to make sure that the remnants of porridge in the trough did not deteriorate and did not provoke food poisoning.
Figure 4. Features of breed feeding
If the main purpose of breeding Adler silvery breed - in obtaining high-quality meat, the diet must include premixes, which contribute to the rapid weight gain. However, even in the case of birds for eggs, premix is still better to include in the diet to improve the overall health of the population.
More detail should stay on the diet of young:
- In the first days of life, chickens are fed mainly with chopped boiled egg. It is desirable to roll in semolina, so that the product does not stick to the legs of the chicks.
- From the second day of life, the ration begins to replenish with fresh chopped greens, and then gradually begin to introduce fresh chopped vegetables, and the advantage should be given to pumpkin, carrots and beets.
- Health benefits will come from baker's yeast, which should be added to feed in low concentrations.
- It is important to feed the chickens often. In the first 10 days, feeding is carried out every two hours, and as the young grow, they move to a frequency of 7 times per day.
- Chickens up to one month of age are strictly prohibited to issue whole grains. The source of protein can be meat waste and insects.
When chickens reach one month of age, feeding is carried out up to 4 times a day, and already at this age it is possible to increase the amount of grain in the diet. The advantage should be given to ground barley and millet. Also in the premises for keeping young stock, a separate gravel feeder must be installed, to which vitamin-mineral supplements may be added.
Adults are also recommended to feed 3-4 times a day. The predominant component of the diet is dry grain. On average, one adult chicken per day should consume about 45 grams of wheat and 35 grams of barley, and to give out grain feeds better in the first and last feeding (morning and evening). Daily feeding should consist of wet mash and vitamin feed.
It is important that in the cold season wet masters should be given only warm, and in such quantity that the birds eat the whole batch at a time. To saturate the body of the birds with vitamins, crushed greens and vegetables are added to the feed, and fish and bone meal, chalk, crushed shell and cilia are used as a vitamin and mineral supplement.
Reasons for rejection
There are only a few reasons for rejection:
- the presence of long braids in the tail of the rooster,
- thin and long neck
- the ridge does not stand or has an inclined position.
In the conditions of industrial production of hens with marriage are slaughtered immediately after the signs of a non-breed have come to light. In private farms, roosters grow up to one year in order to be slaughtered for meat, and the chickens are left if their productivity indices correspond to the norm. But for breeding eggs from under such a hen is not used.
Content of adult chickens
Cellular and free keeping of birds is allowed, but the best indicators of productivity are noted in free-range.
- For them, fit a standard chicken coop at the rate of 0.5 square meters. meters per 1 chicken.
- A warm litter is placed on the floor, and, for frosts, if necessary, a heater is turned on.
- Since the birds soar badly, the perches are set low - up to 0.5 m from the floor.
- Separately, the hens allocate space for nests so that egg-laying can be done freely.
- Be sure to put a bath in the hen house with ash and fine sand, so that the birds can clean their feathers from various parasites.
Feeding adult chickens
Adults Adler silver chickens are fed 3-4 times per day. The basis of the diet - cereals or animal feed:
- Dry food is given for breakfast as well as before bedtime.
- In between, chickens should be given a warm mash on broth with vegetables.
- Four times the birds are fed in the winter, as well as when kept in the cage, 3 times in the summer under free-range conditions.
Do not forget about the mineral supplements and vitamin complex. Proper nutrition - the guarantee of health Adler chicken. При стабильном полноценном рационе иммунитет птиц позволяет справляться с большинством заболеваний.
