Breeding birds is a troublesome thing that requires a special approach. After all, birds, as well as other animals, can suffer from infectious diseases.
Sometimes diseases can go away on their own, but not always. There are cases when the infection does not go anywhere, but on the contrary goes further and further, causing a strong defeat until the death of the bird.
Therefore, we should not forget that birds, especially from the first days of life, should definitely be given enroflon medicine both for the treatment of diseases and for prophylactic purposes. This antibiotic will help prevent and cure infections.that as a result will help grow healthy offspring.
So what is this drug? What are the features and how should be used for birds? Let's find out the answers to all the questions of interest and examine in detail the properties of the drug.
What diseases are used in veterinary medicine?
Enroflon has antimicrobial activity, is used to rid infections and to prevent viral diseases in birds.
Enroflon tablets
The drug is taken with the following indications:
- Different degrees microplasmosis,
- Salmonellosis from the first stages to the heavy,
- Enteritis,
- Colibacteriosis,
- Bronchopneumonia,
- Enzootic pneumonia,
- Atrophic rhinitis,
- Secondary infectious diseases.
The tool is given to the chicks in the first 10 days of life, to prevent disease and preserve the livestock of birds.
What are the dosages in%
In various digestive disorders and as a preventive measure, birds are given a 5% or 10% enroflon solution. 5% solution It is added to feed or water at the rate of 0.5-1 ml per 1 kg of live weight of the bird.
In its pure form give the birds at the rate of 2.5-5 mg per 1 kilogram. 10% solution should be added to water or feed at a dosage of 0.5 ml per kilogram of body weight of the individual. In pure form, the 10% drug is given in doses of 2.5-5 mg per 1 kilogram of an individual.
But these are still general indicators of taking medicine for broilers in veterinary medicine, and there are serious cases when the drug should be taken in large proportions and in a different way.
Dosage 2.5 mg.
Therefore, it is worth considering the rules for taking medicine for chicks and adults separately, this will help to avoid serious problems and raise healthy offspring.
For chickens
Enroflon for chickens is applied from the first days of appearance. The medicine is an excellent tool for the prevention of newborns from infectious diseases. Due to prevention, chicks can be warned against many infections, which can hit almost all the livestock of individuals in a day.
These days, chicks are most susceptible to infectious diseases - gastrointestinal problems, respiratory diseases and diseases of the joints.
The use of enroflon for chickens provides the following indicators:
- Beneficial effect on microflora digestive system
- Saturation of the body helpful components
- During colds, the medicine has anti-inflammatory exposure and reduces the risk of viral infections,
- Helps get rid of colibacillosis, mycoplasmosis, salmonellosis and other infectious pathologies.

The drug is taken both for prophylactic purposes and for the first symptoms of salmonellosis, enteritis, colibacillosis, bronchopneumonia, mycoplasmosis and other diseases.
During this period, the chicks are given 10% medicine, it is poured into water in dosages - 0.5 ml per 1000 ml of water. The course of medical procedures is from 3 to 5 days. It is worth remembering when salmonellosis medicine is given in twofold dosages.
For poults
Poults, starting from the 5th day of life to 10, often suffer from infectious diseases, this is due to a weak immune system. During this period, chicks are weak and exposed to microbes. Nestlings suffer from digestive disorders, at this time they are worried about diarrhea, they have colds, viral pathologies.
The drug is added to water in doses of 0.5 ml per 1 liter of water. If a 10% solution is given, then 1 ml of the medicine is added to 1 liter. The course of treatment is 3-5 days.
Geese are considered hardy birds and rarely get sick. However, there are infectious diseases among the chicks that cause serious problems.
Flock of goslings
Goslings in the first days of life suffer from the following ailments:
- Pasteurellosis,
- Salmonellosis,
- Enteritis,
- Gastrointestinal infections,
- Viral respiratory diseases.
Therefore, goslings, like chickens, are prevented with the use of enroflon. It should be added to water in proportions of 0.5 ml per 1 liter of water. You can give a 5% and 10% solution. The treatment period lasts from 3 to 5 days.
Application for other birds and broilers
For chicks of other birds, the use of the drug has the same meaning. It is given to birds during prophylaxis, to enhance the immune system of individuals, as well as for the treatment of infectious pathologies - microplasmosis, salmonellosis, enteritis, colibacteriosis and other viral infections.
The drug is diluted in water - 0.5-1 ml of the drug is added to 1 liter. You can give a 5% 10% drug. The treatment period lasts from 3 days to 5 days.
Instructions for use for adult birds
For adults of chickens, geese, ducks, guinea fowls, pigeons and other species of birds, enroflon is given for the indication of microplasmosis, colibacillosis, salmonellosis, enteritis, bronchopneumus and other infectious and respiratory pathologies.
Delivery of medication to adult birds
The use of the drug provides the following indicators:
- Boost immune systems that
- Caution against the occurrence of many serious of infections,
- Performance improvement digestive systems that
- Saturation body nutrients and nutrients
- During catarrhal and viral respiratory diseases, the drug reduces inflammatory processes and thereby eliminates the harsh consequences.
Instructions for use: for adults, the medicine is given by the oral route, that is, it is added to water and the bird is drunk with this solution. Means is added to water at the rate of 0.5-1 ml per 1 liter of water. During salmonellosis, the dose of the drug is doubled.
The preparation should be prepared only for the amount of water consumed per day, but not more, if the water with the medicine is longer than one day, the effect of the remedy is much lower. The treatment period lasts from 3 to 5 days. During this period, you should only give water with enroflon.
Side effects
At observance of the recommended doses of side effects is not observed. Sometimes chickens may have allergic reactions to the components of enroflon, namely fluoroquinolones. In these cases, the use of the drug should be immediately discontinued and antihistamines should be given instead.
Contraindications
Enroflon is contraindicated during damage and severe impairment of the kidneys and liver.
It is also not recommended to give laying hens to eggs if eggs are eaten. Because the active component enrofloxacin falls into the composition of eggs. If the birds suffer from infectious pathologies and treatment with enroflon is vital, then it is better to stop eating eggs at the time of medical procedures.
It is not recommended to give the drug to laying hens.
It is not recommended to combine with the following medications:
- Prohibited take tetracycline, macroclide, levomycetin, with bacteriostatic type antibiotics,
- In no case do not need to give with theophylline, steroids and anticoagulants,
- Not desirable give together with iron-containing agents, sucralfate and antacid substances, as well as aluminum, magnesium and calcium. This may reduce the effect of enroflon. It is best to give the drug for 1-2 hours before taking or after 4 hours of taking these funds.
Attention, poultry meat that has been treated with enroflon medicine should be consumed 11 days after treatment. If the slaughter was made earlier, then the meat is better to add to the feed of other animals or from it you can make meat and bone meal.
Pharmacological properties
The main active ingredient is enrofloxacin. This component is included in the group of fluoroquinolones and has a wide range of antibacterial and antimycoplasma action. Entrofloxycin has a suppressive effect on many bacteria and viruses.
Immunity of viruses and bacteria to enroflon develops rather slowly, because the mechanism of antimicrobial action of enrofloxacin is directly associated with inhibition of the enzyme, which affects the replication of the DNA helix in a bacterial cell.
The drug is rapidly absorbed into the stomach and then enters other organs and cells of the body. Is excreted along with urine or bile.
The treatment of poultry is a laborious process that must begin in the very first stages. Better start give the drug from the first days of life chicksto enhance the immune system of individuals and warn against serious pathologies.
The main thing during the use of enroflon to observe the rules of admission and indications. Remember, proper care and timely prevention of all kinds of infectious diseases - the key to healthy offspring!
Enroflon for chickens
Enroflon belongs to antibiotic drugs, and despite the fairly long existence on the market, this drug is still considered one of the most effective (Figure 1).
Note: The action of Enroflon is quite extensive, as it allows to cure and prevent serious diseases of the digestive system, urinary and respiratory systems.
The drug is made in the form of a transparent solution with a slight yellowish tinge. Apply this solution orally. It is noteworthy that, unlike other potent antibiotics, Enroflon does not pose a danger to the body of birds, since after the completion of the action the drug is excreted in the urine unchanged. In addition, the maximum effect of the agent is observed within an hour after administration, and persists for a day, therefore, to achieve a positive result of treatment, it is enough to administer the solution only once a day.
Figure 1. Dosage options for the drug
With pronounced efficacy Enroflon can not be called an expensive tool. It is because of the affordable cost that this medicine can be used in farms with large populations.
Instructions for use and dosage
To achieve the maximum therapeutic effect from the use of Enroflon, you need to strictly follow the instructions developed by the manufacturer. In addition, it is necessary to adhere to the recommended dosages, issuing the drug only in those quantities that are provided for birds of a certain age and species.
Note: Enroflon can be used not only for treating chickens, but also for other birds, but it is especially effective when used for goslings, poults and pigeons.
Despite the fact that the drug has a pronounced therapeutic effect, its use does not require any special knowledge or skills, so even a beginning poultry breeder can cope with the course of treatment.
Antibiotic Enroflon is a prepared liquid intended for oral use. The drug can either be added to drinking water or introduced into the body of birds through a pipette. In this case, the dosage should be accurately calculated, depending on the type of poultry, the age of the livestock, the average weight of the individual and the daily need for drinking water. During treatment, chickens should receive only drinking water mixed with this drug, however, if salmonellosis is being treated, the dosage for adults should be doubled.
Depending on the indications for use, dosages of Enroflon may be as follows:
- To prevent infections or to eliminate digestive disorders, birds are given a five or ten percent solution of the drug. A five percent solution is added to the feed or drinking water at the rate of 0.5-1 ml of the preparation per 1 kg of live weight of the bird. If a ten percent solution is used, only 0.5 ml of the product per 1 kg of live weight is added to the feed or water.
- In its pure form, the drug is given at the rate of 2.5-5 ml per 1 kg of chicken weight, and this dosage is relevant for a five- and ten-percent solution.
- Enroflon chickens begin to be given out from the first days of life, since this drug can serve as an excellent prophylactic against infectious diseases that often develop in infants and infants. The most dangerous periods in the life of chickens are 1-5, 20-25 and 35-40 days after birth. It is these days that chicks are especially predisposed to diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory diseases and pathologies of the joints. For young individuals, it is desirable to give the drug along with drinking water, and the advantage should be given to a 10% solution. It is added at the rate of 5 ml per 1 liter of water, and the duration of treatment is 3-5 days. However, in the treatment of salmonellosis, the indicated dosage must be doubled.

For all adult birds, including chickens, geese, ducks and turkeys, the dosage remains common. The drug is given orally, by adding to drinking water or by drinking specimens from a pipette. The drug must be added to the water at the rate of 0.5-1 ml per 1 liter of liquid, but in the treatment of salmonellosis, this dosage must be increased twice. It is important to prepare a solution of the drug only with the daily amount of water consumed. If the liquid in the drinkers will last longer than a day, the drug will lose its therapeutic effect. As in the case of chickens and young stock of other species, the treatment should be no more than 5 days. At the same time, at the time of treatment, all livestock should receive only drinking water mixed with medication. Thanks to this, you will be sure that all birds, without exception, have received the required amount of the preparation and that birds will not have to be manually drunk (Figure 3).
The result of Enroflon
Since the drug is a powerful antibiotic, it is used primarily for the treatment of bacterial and mycoplasmal infections. Due to the pronounced action, the drug quickly destroys the majority of pathogens that provoke diseases.
The active ingredient of the drug quickly penetrates the walls of bacterial cells and causes serious morphological changes that make it impossible to further develop the microorganism. Due to this, the bacteria die en masse.
Figure 4. The result of applying the tool
At the same time, the antibiotic does not have a negative effect on the organism of birds as a whole. Since the drug is not absorbed and not processed by the body of the bird, it is displayed in a completely unchanged form. Due to this, the antibiotic is absolutely safe for humans, and poultry meat treated with this medicine can be freely consumed. It should be noted that the therapeutic effect of the use of the drug will be noticeable a day after the first injection, but to achieve the maximum result, the treatment should be continued for another 3-5 days, depending on the intensity of the disease (Figure 4).

Pharmacological (biological) properties and effects
Enroflon 10% solution for oral administration is a drug for the treatment of bacterial and mycoplasmal diseases of calves, lambs, pigs and poultry.
Enrofloxacin, the active ingredient in Enroflon, belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones. Suppresses bacterial DNA synthesis, disrupts DNA synthesis, growth and division of bacteria, causes pronounced morphological changes (including in the cell wall and membranes), which causes a rapid death of the bacterial cell.
It acts bactericidal on gram-negative microorganisms in the period of rest and division, on gram-positive microorganisms - only in the period of division.
Against the background of the use of enrofloxacin, there is no parallel development of resistance to other antibiotics that do not belong to the group of gyrase inhibitors. Resistance of microorganisms to enrofloxacin develops relatively slowly, because the mechanism of its antimicrobial action is associated with the inhibition of DNA helix replication processes in the nucleus of a bacterial cell.
Enrofloxacin has a wide range of antibacterial and antimikoplasma action. against most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganismsincluding Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Enterobacter spp., Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Haemophilus spp., Klebsiella spp., Pasteurella multocida, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bordetella spp., Campylobacter spp., Effecters, in-within the frameworks of the applications and affinees, in-put, your, my, my, my, your, my, my, my, my, my, etc. , Streptococcus spp., Actinobacillus spp., Clostridium spp., Fusobacterium spp., Bacteroides spp., And also Mycoplasma spp.
Enrofloxacin is well and quickly absorbed from the digestive tract and penetrates into all organs and tissues of the body, with the exception of nervous tissue. The maximum concentration of enrofloxacin in the blood is reached 1-2 hours after the administration of enroflon and lasts for 6 hours, and the therapeutic concentration - for 24 hours. The concentration of enrofloxacin in blood neutrophils and tissues of the body is 2-12 times higher than in plasma.
Enrofloxacin is partially metabolized in the liver to form ciprofloxacin, which has antibacterial activity. Fluoroquinolones are excreted mainly from the urine and bile.
The low toxicity of enrofloxacin for the cells of the microorganism is explained by the absence of DNA gyrase in them. Enroflon 10% solution for oral administration according to the degree of exposure to the body belongs to hazard class 4 (low hazard substances) according to GOST 12.1.007-76.
