Geese Linda belong to the heavy breeds. They were bred in the Nizhny Novgorod region, so they were originally called the Gorky geese. To create a new breed, breeders crossed Adler, Chinese, Solnechnogorsk and simple local geese. To improve the quality of down and feather, the blood of Arzamas and Landa geese was added to the received individuals. Further improvement was carried out by breeding "in itself."

The breed standard was approved in 1994 and included the following characteristics of a bird:

  • Stretched body with developed muscles.
  • The head is large. In the frontal part is a specific bump. Due to the presence of this frontal growth, the geese were named “hook-nosed”.
  • Wings, tight to the body.
  • The neck is long, fleshy.
  • The beak is bright orange.
  • The eyes are dark, small in size.
  • Legs are short, orange.

Weights and characteristics

A key characteristic of the productivity of the Linda breed are weights. The average body weight of representatives of the breed is 8 kilograms. The goose weighs about 7 kilograms. The male is able to gain body weight up to 11 kilograms.

The rate of growth and weight gain in geese Linda is high. Already at 4 months youngsters weigh about 5 kilograms and are ready to be slaughtered for meat. Breeders note the quality and high taste of meat of this breed.

Females of Linda geese are distinguished by high egg production. Each of them carries up to 50 eggs per year, and with good care and proper nutrition, the amount can increase up to 70 eggs.

Geese of breed Linda are peaceful and livable. They do not conflict with each other and with other birds and animals, they calmly behave at night.

A large flock of geese can produce a lot of noise, but an active "galdenie" indicates the health and well-being of the bird.

Conditions of detention and care

The main condition for well-being and maintaining the health of the bird is proper nutrition and comfortable living in an adapted area. For profit from growing geese for them you need to prepare a good house. The poultry housing should be of such a size that there should be at least 0.5 square meters per one individual. The room may not be heated, but without drafts.

It is imperative to provide in the henhouse the presence of nests for hens at the rate of 1 piece per 3 females. Nests are plywood or wood crates filled with chips. The size of the nest is 40Х60Х50.

Geese are sensitive to the amount of daylight, so for the autumn-winter period in the house should be provided for artificial lighting. The length of daylight hours must be at least 13 hours.

Feeders and drinkers are installed inside the house. The height of the walls of the troughs for feeding should be such that geese freely pick up food and water, but do not climb inside with their legs.

For the comfort of the poultry is necessary to organize active walking on a large area. Goose breed Linda necessarily need a reservoir. Only if it is available will the bird's immune system be maintained at the proper level, and the down will be of high quality. It is ideal to keep the breed near natural lakes, ponds or streams, on which geese will spend almost all day. If this is not possible, an artificial reservoir must be made in the aviary.

Catering geese

The diet of geese of breed Linda consists of grain mixes, vegetables, grass, mollusks from reservoirs. When fattening young stock for slaughter, it is recommended to use a special feed for broilers, which is maximally absorbed and provides an accelerated set of body weight.

Adult geese, during free range, are able to find their own food during the day. Algae are contraindicated for goslings up to 18 weeks old. Therefore, it is better not to release them to open reservoirs. Eating algae can cause a disorder of the digestive tract, and diarrhea will begin in the goslings.

From 22-23 weeks of life, the basis of the ration of linda geese is grain mixes. To provide the bird's body with all the nutrients, vitamin complexes are necessarily added to the feed. In winter, the amount of vitamin-mineral supplements in geese feed is increased.

Geese can not be fed to the leaves of root vegetables, as it is poisonous for this bird. Botva causes intestinal spasm, which in the absence of timely assistance leads to death!

Feeding of geese is carried out twice a day in summer, three times in winter. Daily feeding is canceled if the geese are free-range during the day. During the day geese eat dandelion. Nettle, yarrow, algae, mollusks and small fish from the reservoir. In the evening, a mixture of beans and grains with fodder yeast, boiled potatoes and herbs is added to the feeders. Useful geese beet, carrots and hay. Fresh drinking water in the drinkers should be constantly.

Features of breeding and rearing

Breeding birds produced from late February to early June. During this period, a goose with a good diet can carry 1 egg per day. Eggs are collected and stored at a temperature of at least 5-6 degrees and a maximum of 12 degrees. When storing eggs need to be turned once a day.

The first two eggs laid are unfertilized. They must be left in the nest so that the goose subsequently does not leave the clutch.

The breed is highly fertilized eggs, which reaches 95%. The hatchability of goslings is noted at the level of 90%, the survival rate of young animals is 85-90%.

Linda geese are excellent hens and responsible mothers, so there are no problems with breeding goslings. Gathered eggs are laid to the female, who does not leave the nest for several days. The number of eggs depends on the size of the female. If the goose leaves the nest for a long time while incubating the eggs, the eggs are sprinkled with warm water so that they do not cool. Hatching eggs lasts about 30 days.

The hatched goslings are left next to the female until it is completely dry. Then they need to pick up from the nest, cauterize the umbilical cord with iodine and place in a room with a temperature of at least 27 degrees. Goslings need round-the-clock lighting for 10 days. From 11 to 20 days light day is reduced to 16-17 hours. From 21st to 90th day - 14 hours.

It is impossible to let out goslings up to 45 days for free walking. They are kept in a closed enclosure where a low bathing tub is installed. It is recommended to bring out goslings to an open reservoir no earlier than 50 days. This mode of maintenance is necessary to avoid contamination of young salmonella.

Young animals are fed with broiler feed, dairy products (at least 14% of the daily ration), fish fillets, eggs. Goslings are gradually transferred to adult feed at three months of age.

Before the 50th day of life, the Chicks are very shy, so harsh sounds and movements are prohibited next to them. It is necessary to handle goslings as gently and gently as possible.

Characteristic diseases and their prevention

Linda geese are resistant to adverse weather and climatic conditions, but extremely susceptible to various kinds of infections:

  • salmonellosis
  • aspergillosis
  • enetrit,
  • hymenolepitosis,
  • influenza,
  • neisseriosis
  • pasteurellosis.

Most of the diseases associated with the penetration of infection in the digestive tract. Therefore, in the house and an open-air cage for geese, it is necessary to maintain cleanliness, systematically rinse and disinfect feeders and drinkers.

Vaccination is carried out to prevent diseases:

  • From viral enteritis - live vaccine VNIVIP 30 days before egg-laying, twice with a break of 2 weeks.
  • For salmonellosis, goslings are systematically vaccinated with the drug Tilan.

Pros and cons of breed

The breed of geese Linda has many advantages:

  • The rapid growth of young.
  • Great weight.
  • High egg production.
  • Developed maternal instinct in females.
  • Peace loving character.

The disadvantages of the breed less:

  • Weak digestive system.
  • Great need for vitamin and mineral food supplements.
  • The need for active walking in a large area.

Farmers reviews about the breed

I keep the breed of geese Linda in my farm for about 10 years. Breed favorable in terms of obtaining meat. The main thing for them is cleanliness and abundant food. In 2-3 weeks I am vaccinated against enteritis.

Geese Linda - the perfect meat breed. Grow quickly, if kept clean, practically do not get sick. I sell meat and eggs to the tribe. Very profitable.

Geese Linda is growing rapidly and gaining weight. But the goslings have never hatched themselves. Bring only in the incubator. Survival of goslings is high, out of 20 bred maximum 2 can die.

Description and characteristics of the breed Linda

Geese of this breed were bred more than 20 years ago in the Nizhny Novgorod region. A distinctive feature of the bird is a large build. By 2–3 months of age, the goose already weighs 4 kg. Adult male - 8-12 kg, female - 7-8 kg. Having a good share of meat, the bird also runs quite well, laying about 50 eggs a year. The mass of one varies in the range of 140-170 g.

External signs of the Lindov geese:

  • oblong body,
  • pure white plumage
  • paws and beak are orange, of varying degrees of brightness,
  • small bump on the head in the frontal zone,
  • eyes are small, dark.

  1. After molting the bird does not reduce the growth rate.
  2. Geese normally tolerate frosts even up to -40 ° C. In winter, they can live in unheated poultry houses. The main condition is the absence of drafts.
  3. 95% of eggs are fertilized. When grown in an incubator, 90% of the viable goslings hatch.
  4. The bird gets on well with other breeds, is friendly to the person.

Attention! Among the disadvantages of the breed can be noted excessive noise. Geese loudly, talking to each other. Therefore, the location of the house near the residential premises will create discomfort for people.

Conditions for growing Lindov geese

This breed is unpretentious to the conditions of life, but with good care will be more productive. As a home for these geese, the poultry house, which has a fenced platform for walking and well adjoins the reservoir, has well established itself. The pond should be constantly fed with running water. Such conditions are most natural for geese, and therefore favorable. The bird will be able to receive a balanced diet from natural sources.

Often geese breed Linda bred in enclosed spaces. For normal development on three individuals must have at least 2 square meters. m aviary or cage. In larger crowded conditions, the bird will fly badly, be ill, lose the feather. An important factor in the increase in live weight and quality of egg-laying for the Linda breed is the light mode:

  1. If the daylight hours are less than 7.5 hours, the geese will stop rolling. The optimum value for good egg laying is 12-13 h in spring and autumn, 14-15 h in summer.
  2. A newborn young (up to 10 days) needs around-the-clock coverage. From the 11th day this value can be reduced daily by an hour, until it equals the norm of an adult bird.

Growing young breed Linda

The geese start to rush from the end of winter and make it all spring. It often happens that the first eggs are unfertilized. However, they can not be reached from the nest - the bird can also leave a familiar spot. But subsequent eggs should be taken every day and stored in a dark room at + 5 ... 12 ° C. Mark them with the date of receipt and the layer number.

Attention! The goose may leave the nest for a while. At this time, it is important to ensure that the temperature of the eggs does not fall.

Goslings hatch in about a month. They need to immediately burn the umbilical cord, and then send it to a warm box. Inside it should maintain the temperature of + 26 ... + 28 ° C. Up to 1.5 months goslings do not lead to the meadow. After grazing is desirable.

The nestlings require special attention in the period of 28-49 days, during the growth of flight feathers. Any stress can cause serious disruption to this process. Avoid:

  • loud noises and noise near the house,
  • sharp movements indoors,
  • calling and personal feeding of young animals from the hand.

How to organize feeding birds

Geese breed Linda have a good appetite. Undernourishment leads to young rickets, so the owners do not limit the brood in food. Do not worry about the profitability of such rearing - the breed will pay for its own, because the meat yield is about 80% per bird. Food depends largely on the availability of a place for grazing and water. Part of the food geese can get there. You can feed or feed individuals:

  • grain,
  • chicken feed
  • root vegetables
  • grass.

Young individuals older than 2 months, it is useful to introduce in the diet of the Premix feed complex 1.5-1%. From the 4th month of life, the goslings begin to feed the grain. After reaching a mass of 7-8 kg, you can switch to cheaper methods of nutrition. If adult geese get vitamin greens on the run, then it is not necessary to count nutritional value and reduce other menu items.

If it is impossible to feed the bird, you need to additionally feed it with multivitamin supplements. It is important that the proportion of protein in the feed was at least 14%. Also there should be phosphorus and energy-containing trace elements. From the first days of life it is necessary for the bird to prevent weak limb syndrome and deformity of feathers.

Features care for goose breed Linda

The geese of this breed start running at 5 months. However, it is better to delay the start of the process for another month. Half a year is the time of optimal maturation of the female individual. Until that time, you should have 1-2 times to instill the entire virus brood.

Geese breed Linda can get sick not only from viral infections, but also with errors in the care. Strongly affect the immunity contamination of the house or cramped. Therefore, to prepare housing for the poultry should begin even before its settlement. The room must be thoroughly sanitized, replaced in it litter, whitewash the ceiling and walls from the inside.

Protect the newly hatched chicks will help such measures:

  • vypaivaniya pale pink solution of potassium permanganate,
  • vaccination against viral enteritis,
  • Top dressing with Tilan 1 time in 3 months. (against salmonellosis),
  • nutrition with algae (against hymenolepiasis).

Attention! Geese of this breed often suffer from avitaminosis in the spring. At this time, be sure to include in their diet vitamin complexes and fresh grass.

In ascetic conditions, the geese of the Lindovsky meat breed give a good weight gain. You can hammer them on reaching 5 kg, reducing the number of litters and feed consumption. However, the bird will have to watch. Attention she needs from the first days. Good care will be the key to a healthy and productive breed.

How did Linda geese come about

Linda geese were bred in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Breeders were faced with the task: to improve the quality of meat, its quantity and improve the characteristics of feathers and down. To do this, the scientists crossed the Chinese breed of birds with the Solnogorsk, Adler and Arzamas geese, thanks to which the new species became distinguished by its endurance, earliness and longer lifespan. Then new geese were connected with the Lange breed to improve the quality of the pen and increase body weight.

The resulting species was selected for selection, and in 1994 an excellent breed of domestic geese Linda appeared. Thanks to their qualities, these birds became known all over the world, and in our country this species of waterfowl pets is considered to be the most beneficial for growing at home.

Geese Linda - breed description

Linda geese look very attractive: have a large and strong body, covered with snow-white plumage with beige splashes, a large head with a bump, which is a characteristic feature of these birds, proud posture, short but steady legs with dark orange flippers.

Birds belong to the early maturing breed - the average weight of such a goose is about 8 kg, but with careful care and a balanced diet it can even reach 12 kg. The weight of the goose usually does not exceed 7-7.5 kg. Due to the high growth rate, maturity in birds begins at 8 months.

Geese of breed Linda have a good-natured and livable character, they are distinguished by sociability, curiosity and friendly attitude towards people and other domestic animals and birds. The content is very unpretentious.

Lindovskaya breed quite productive, the average egg production rate is more than 50 eggs per year, and with good care it can be 70, and their weight reaches 150-170 grams. Females are very good chicks and mothers, thanks to this, the survival rate of chicks is more than 90%. During incubation, about 75% of babies can be born.

Positive qualities of Linda geese

  1. Rather quickly grow and gain weight. Since geese very quickly reach a good physical form, it is much more profitable to grow and breed them than other breeds of this poultry.
  2. I am glad and egg laying lindovskih geese. Under favorable conditions and proper feeding in the spring, females can produce one egg per day.
  3. Goslings have excellent immunity from birth, are born hardy and strong, do not need any special nutrition.
They also endure very hot weather.
  6. Birds are calm and non-conflicting, they have no problem finding a common language with other pets.
  7. The meat of these geese is very juicy and tasty.
  8. Breeding them fully justifies itself, brings great profits, despite the small costs of care.

Disadvantages of the Linda Geese Breed

  1. Birds can suffer from avitaminosis in the spring with monotonous feeding and no walking. This can be corrected by adding greens and vitamins to food.
  2. In young geese an intestinal disease can often occur - hymenolepidosis when adapting to certain types of food, for example, fish, algae, mollusks from nearby water bodies. Therefore, it is important to accustom this food to domestic birds gradually.
  3. Birds must walk, they should always have access to water, because from the reservoirs they get all the necessary elements they need. Frequent walking is not always convenient for breeders who grow geese.
  4. High noise from birds. Lindovskaya geese are quite loud and actively communicate with each other, and their snag is quite loud.
  5. Problems with breeding the breed in the absence of access to the reservoir.

Conditions of Lindov breed

Keeping water pets at home is quite simple. The main thing, of course, them will need a housein which there should be troughs, drinkers and nests. Such a home for geese can be arranged in a spacious barn. Geese must move freely in the house, it is necessary for their healthy development.

Nests should be placed on the floor where there is no bright light. They can be made of wood or plywood, measuring 45x65x55 cm. The nest is usually a solid fence that does not have a bottom, and chips should be poured on the floor below it. One place here is designed for 3-4 birds. Be sure to take into account that they were comfortable here.

Light day should last 12 hourstherefore, if necessary, it is necessary to extend it with additional lighting of ordinary lamps. For a comfortable stay of adult geese in the winter additional heating of the house is not required. The main condition - no drafts, it can adversely affect the health of the bird.

As the dishes for troughs and drinkers can serve as a trough. It is necessary to take into account that the shape and height of its walls should be convenient for use by the Linda geese, they should pick up food, wash their throats and beaks without obstacles. Feeders need to be filled in accordance with the regime, and drinkers several times a day.

Feeding and walking at home

Feeding geese depends on the season.. In the summer, be sure to let them go for a walk. It is very good if there is a reservoir with running water nearby. During these walks geese Linda will get everything for themselves: fresh and healthy grass, dandelions, nettles, algae and small fish.

When geese return home in the evening, they are usually supplemented with a mixture of cereals, legumes and herbs. Some of the grains are given in pure form to maintain the balance in the body of birds and helps digestion.

In winter the breed is not taken for walks and is usually fed 3 times a day. Grains with beans mixed with a certain amount of yeast, boiled potatoes and grass. It is very important to remember that the processes of potatoes are very poisonous for geese, they can only be given tubers and skin. As a delicacy, the Linda geese offer small raw beets, hay, and carrots.

Many farmers add special broiler feed to the birds, this gives a quick weight gain in feathered pets. This type of feeding is allowed to them from two weeks of age in combination with grass, roots and water.

Proper diet extremely important for geese Linda, besides they have a great appetite. If the birds are not fed up, this will have a very negative impact on the offspring - goslings can be born weakened and sick with rickets, therefore, in no case can one restrict the feeding of these pets.

Description of breeding features

Carry eggs of the female of this breed usually begin from February to May. Before the eggs appear, the geese start to worry, to look for nests. At first, the first few eggs may turn out to be empty, but they cannot be removed, because the female can then throw the familiar place.

When the next eggs begin to appear, they must be collected daily, marked and stored in a dark place with a temperature of 6-12 degrees, turning them every 24 hours or placing the eggs in an incubator. But if the goose prefers to hatch itself, you can give it that opportunity. Lindov birds can produce up to 11 goslings.

Kids hatch on the thirtieth day, they need to cauterize the umbilical cord and place the box, the temperature in which should be 26-28 degrees.

Rules for successful breeding

  • It is necessary to increase the light day in the house for geese up to 15 hours. The ambient temperature should be about 11-14 degrees.
  • Avoid excessive noise around females that hatch eggs.
  • Well and balanced feed the birds, add shellfish and vitamins to food, to preserve health.
  • Carefully monitor the expectant mother to go out for lunch for 20-25 minutes. At this time, starting from day 16, it is necessary to spray the eggs with warm water.

Growing goslings and caring for them

An important condition for the healthy development of babies - it is an abundance of light. The first 10 days of coverage should be present all 24 hours: from 11 to 20 days to 17 hours, from 21 to 50 days - 15-14 hours. If necessary, you can take short breaks in the supply of electricity.

In the breeding of Linda geese, there is a period when they have a rapid growth of primary feathers, this occurs approximately from 28 to 50 days after birth. During this period, the chicks are very susceptible to noise or other annoying sounds, the poet should try to protect the kids from this. In the future, you should try to devote more time to communicating with the goslings, to be with them affectionate and benevolent.

Up to 40-45 days of lindov chicks hold in poultry houses without walking. Then, gradually, they need to be brought to some clearing not far from the house, where there should be basins filled with water. On day 50, it is possible to allow goslings to walk around the pond. Such a smooth approach to walking has a beneficial effect on the growing body of the younger generation.

Description of feeding chicks

Gosling feed must contain the necessary amount of vitamins and be very nutritious. As a complete meal for them at home, perfectly suitable feed for broiler chickens. Before the 140-day age, the diet of young animals should have a lot of protein, at least 15%, it is necessary to give eggs, dairy products, fish fillets. And after the goslings begin to graze themselves, you can enter in their food and cereals.

Geese breed Linda: description with photo

The geese belonging to this breed group can be called real beauties, as if descended from pictures from a fabulous book. Linda differ excellent performance relating to many points. These advantages will be discussed in this article. So, geese breed Linda - description, photos are presented below.

History of origin

To describe the Lindovian pedigree is not easy. The story begins in the last century, when the Chinese geese were crossed with the local native - Nizhny Novgorod birds.

At this, the work on selection did not stop, they infused blood with the Solnechnogorsk, Adler and Arzamas rocks. The modern look is due to the Lanjers' and Gorky geese.

The final formation of the Linda breed occurred in the 70s of the twentieth century.

External features

The breed Linda is very much appreciated by many poultry farmers. It is enough to distinguish geese from other representatives of domestic birds, such as Ruan ducks and others, because of very noticeable bright signs:

  • birds have white feathers,
  • there is a large growth on the forehead,
  • the body has an elongated shape
  • at paws and beak orange color with different shades,
  • small eyes dark

Adults gain weight over 11 kg. Early maturity is characteristic of young animals, by the age of 90 days they have a mass of about 4 kg. Unlike their fellows, representatives of the Lind breed continue to gain mass even during the change of feather cover. Maturity comes at 8 months.

Productivity

Lind geese are productive birds, which are characterized not only by good egg production, but also by rapid weight gain. As mentioned earlier, young animals weigh about 4 kg at 3 months of age, and from eight months of age individuals are considered mature.

On average, the weight of one egg varies from 140 to 170 g, and egg production is about 5 dozen eggs over 365 days. If geese provide proper care, then you can get 2 dozen more, and this is a clear indicator of excellent productivity.

Not less high rates and in reproduction, about 90% of eggs, as a rule, turn out fertilized, and during the incubation period it is possible to receive an out of 70% of goslings.

The Linda geese have a well-preserved maternal instinct, they sit perfectly on eggs, and then take care of the offspring, thanks to this, the survival rate of the young is 90%.

How to care for young?

First you need to think about how the room will be lit. Up to ten days of age, the goslings should have a light around the clock. Then the lighting time is gradually reduced - from 10 to 20 days it should be at least 16 hours, from 20 to 45 another reduction takes place - to 14 hours per day.

An important stage in the breeding of lindovy geese is the time of growth of the feathers, it falls on the 28-49 day.

At this time in young animals, there is an increased susceptibility to irritating factors, these may be unusual sounds, the occurrence of noise.

While feeding the goslings, it is recommended not to make any sudden movements, to try to make sure that as few extraneous sounds as possible penetrate the room. It is recommended to communicate with young stock as often as possible.

Feeding and walking

In the period of growth and development, young animals are given feed intended for broilers. The most important thing in the cultivation of the Linda breed is to provide a balanced, nutritious diet, thanks to which the birds will grow healthy, and in the future will fully justify their productive qualities. For the optimal choice of food, it can be divided by age groups of goslings:

  • starting feeds give up to 14 days,
  • mountain from 15 to 28 days,
  • finisher fed from 28 to 45 days.

Up to one and a half month old youngsters are not recommended to be let out for walks, as soon as this threshold passes, they should be let out on pasture every day.

The balance of the protein content when taking into account the independent presence in pasture conditions is equal to 14% (45 to 120 days).

In addition, in the diet, there is necessarily grain, vitamin supplements (important for the winter period). The premix is added to the feed at the rate of 1.5% on the total weight of the feed.

Representatives of the breed is not recommended to limit the feed, they should be plenty. Shortage of food affects offspring, goslings can suffer rickets.

What you need to know about reproduction?

Linda geese mature at the age of 8 months. In females, the incubation instinct and care for the young are kept. You can grow goslings by artificial means.

If you properly organize the light mode, then they will grow strong and healthy, and also quickly gain weight. During incubation, 90% hatching is noted, 80% of goslings survive.

180 days is considered to be the most suitable age for the first egg-laying, however, some females already rush from the age of five months.

Features of rearing geese breed Linda

The geese of the Lind breed were bred in 1994 in the Nizhny Novgorod region, with the aim of improving the quality and quantity of meat and fluff. As a result of crossing several breeds, breeders also managed to accelerate weight gain, which became an important characteristic when choosing and buying geese for growing on farms.

Description and features of the breed

Lindov geese have a rather large constitution, which significantly increases the amount of meat. The average weight of an adult goose reaches 8 to 12 kg. Also one of the distinguishing features is the degree of egg production - about 50 eggs per year, weighing 140-170 g each.

This breed is characterized by white plumage, covering the long torso, and a small lump on the head, which allows us to distinguish geese from other species.

As early as 3 months, goslings, as a rule, gain weight up to 4 kg. It is also important that the positive fact that after molting the young geese do not slow down their growth like other breeds. Lindovskaya breed geese has its advantages:

  • the birds endure very cold to -40 C, and even in the cold season they can live in non-insulated premises (without drafts),
  • with full feeding, they quickly gain mass, which is very beneficial for poultry farmers,
  • almost 95% of all eggs are fertilized and are suitable for further growth in an incubator. Moreover, from them, as a rule, 90% of nestlings hatch, which, with normal content, live to mature age,
  • Linda geese are very calm and non-conflicting, so they get along easily with other "relatives".

What you need to know about feeding?

In the diet of gooses of the Linda breed, highly nutritious food is allowed, namely, a starter (up to 2 weeks), a grower (up to 1 month) and a finisher (up to 45 days). Such nutrition will increase the weight to 5 kg in the first 12 weeks.

After 4 months, the chicks can be eaten cereal, and after the goose weighs 7-8 kg, it can be slaughtered or changed to a more economical diet.

To avoid the pain of birds, feeding goslings should include such elements as phosphorus, protein and energy-rich substances. All this fits perfectly in broiler feed.

Lindov goslings have to fully walk, as during grazing they saturate the body with vitamins.

Conditions content geese Linda

For the maintenance of this breed, it is necessary to provide a poultry house equipped with drinking bowls, feeders and nests. Nests with dimensions of 40x60x50 cm can be made independently using plywood or mec, and dry wood chips as bedding.

For 3-4 geese there will be enough one nest located in a darkened, but at the same time warm enough corner.

To avoid diseases among birds, it is necessary to properly prepare the space for their maintenance.. The calculation takes place according to the following principle: 1m.kv. - 1.5 heads.

The particularities of feeding and the maintenance of Linda geese depend on the goals that the farmer has set himself.

When growing young stock, you must adhere to the following rules:

  • for the first 45 days, the birds should be in enclosed areas, then paddock on green lawns is mandatory, preferably with a clean pond,
  • the first 10 days must have a round-the-clock light mode. Then it can be reduced to 16 hours (up to 20 days), and after another 20 days to 14 hours,
  • Do not allow harsh noise and loud sounds in the place where the chicks are housed; this can cause stress in geese.

It is recommended 1-2 times before egg-laying to vaccinate geese against viruses.

Breeding rules

The geese start laying eggs from February and continue to do so throughout the spring.

Each egg must be marked with the date of the wrecking and the number of the carrier goose. The female can periodically leave the nest for 15-20 minutes and during this period it is necessary to ensure that the temperature of the eggs does not fall.

Goslings usually hatch on the 30th day, after which the umbilical cord is cauterized and placed in a warm box (the temperature should be 26-28 C).

The most successful age for laying eggs and breeding geese is Linda - 6 months.

Breed popularity and approximate price in Russia

Linda, due to its unpretentiousness and relatively simple breeding, is in great demand among farmers not only in many regions of Russia, but in other countries (Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus). Geese Linda: description and characteristics of breeding

Lindov geese began to describe as early as the 50s of the last century.

All this, among other things, significantly improved both the growth rates of the Lindians, and the quality of their feathers and down. Finally, the breed was formed in the 70s of the XX century. The name Linda was finally approved in 1994.

Appearance and habits

Description of the goose lind breed: these are very beautiful large birds with white plumage, orange beak and paws, as well as a characteristic frontal bump. On average, Linda geese weigh 8 kg, but often they reach a mass of 10–12 kg. Goose is more geese, with a larger frontal bump. An important feature is that after juvenile molting the growth of these birds continues.

Linda geese are intelligent and friendly birds, they get along well with people, relatives and other breeds. Contact and inquisitive. Birds usually leisurely wander in search of food, bathe or rest near the reservoir. Geese have a well-developed maternal instinct and are good chickens, often very attached to their goslings.

Geese Linda: breed description, my breeding experience

Detailed description of geese linda breed, my experience breeding lindovskih geese on a home farm.

In this article I will talk in detail about the Linda geese, they are also called Linda or Gorky. These geese were bred by crossing several breeds, Chinese, Solnogorskaya and local varieties. Breeders managed to create an unpretentious breed of geese with fairly good weight gain, which has become one of the most popular among poultry farmers.

My experience in breeding and breeding lind geese

At one time I have been engaged in breeding geese of this breed on a home farm and I will share my opinion.

First of all, I would like to note the unpretentiousness of this bird to the conditions of detention, make a reservoir for the geese and provide pasture, that’s all and practically what they need.

The main fodder is green fodder, it is young grass on pasture, if geese have access to a pond, then algae and various plankton go to feed. The bird spends all day on the pasture and in the reservoir, if you have the opportunity to catch duckweed, then the cost of food will be much less.

On some green fodder, geese do not gain a normal mass, they need additional fertilizing from grain, as well as wet mash from a chopped mixture of wheat grain, corn and barley, with the addition of sunflower meal. I recommend to read my article on how to prepare feed for geese on their own, also it provides recipes for feed for geese.

With proper feeding, by 2 months, the Linda geese gain a weight of about 3 kg, and with intensive fattening - 4 kg.

So let's summarize this breed.

Linda geese are unpretentious, they can be kept both on the walking and in the open-air cage, the main thing is to ensure normal feeding, ensure grazing, if kept in a pen, then constantly feed the cut grass, tops from the vegetable garden. If you can not equip the pond, you can put a container with water.

They have quite normal indicators of weight gain, although they are inferior in weight to gray geese.

Very fond of water, willingly eat algae including the duckweed.

Geese do not always sit down to hatch, although they carry eggs regularly.

A fairly common breed, it can be found in many households.

To breed Linda geese or not?

What can I say about this? This breed is fully suitable for home maintenance in home gardens, but if you need a faster ripening breed and with better weight, then I would recommend a gray breed that has a slightly higher weight gain of 4 kg for 2 months or Kholmogory ( weight of geese 6 - 7 kg, males 8 - 10 kg).

I recommend to watch an interesting video where the author Alexander shows geese Linda on his home farm.

Another video, the author weighs geese, weight 2 months 4.2 kg.

Characteristic geese Lindovskoy breed

If we started talking about the Linda geese, then first of all it is worth noting that this is a ripened genus of birds, which is distinguished by a rather large body. In addition, these pets are quite productive and have a beautiful appearance.

If there is a need to have giggling birds who do not need expensive food and who easily adapt to the climate, then the geese of the Lind breed is exactly what is needed.

Simplicity in growing at home is also a huge plus.

Origin

Lindovskaya breed of geese was officially approved in 1994, its birthplace is the Nizhny Novgorod region. This species of birds appeared by crossing Russian species of birds with Chinese waterfowl, as a result of which the birds gained endurance.

After that, the breeding with the Solnechnogorsk and Adler geese was made in order to grow the bird more quickly and to improve the feather cover.

This type of pet is one of the most popular around the world, and in Russia it is considered the most profitable breed for growing at home.

Features care for geese

You also need to think in advance the schedule and lighting system. First, the lighting should be around the clock - this mode is necessary in the first 10 days of life goslings. After that, lighting can be reduced: from 10 to 20 days, lighting is reduced to 16 hours, and from 20 to 45 days of life, lighting should be reduced to 14 hours a day.

There is also a period in the breeding of the Lindov breed of geese such as the growth of wing feathers, which occurs from 28 to 49 days.

During this period of development, goslings are too susceptible to any irritable factors, for example, noise, extraneous sounds.

During this period, the owner must keep in mind that you can not make any sudden movements, especially when feeding pets, and protect adolescents from noise. You also need to be more sociable with goslings.

Reviews breeders

Owners Lindovsky geese, judging by their reviews, absolutely do not regret their purchase. Many people like the fact that these pets are good chicks, as well as many are absolutely satisfied with the level of productivity. Those who own Linda geese for breeding are very happy that they can adapt to the climate, weather and low air temperature.

The only drawback, according to the description of breeders, is the incidence of these birds, because with improper care they are susceptible to beriberi and such a disease as hymenolepiasis.

Geese breed Linda: especially keeping and breeding

Breeding geese has always been considered profitable. The products obtained from them, namely feathers, down and meat, are suitable for industrial production, although the bird is considered domestic. Linda geese are common not only in the subsidiary farms of Russia, but also in foreign countries.

Goose meat of this breed is valued for its nutritional and taste qualities. Linda is the leader in sales of final products. In our country, this waterfowl has already conquered half of all farms. The benefit of breeding geese of this breed is obvious.

Breed features

Breed geese Linda bred in the twentieth century near Nizhny Novgorod. The goal was to improve the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the final product. To achieve this goal, Russian and Chinese breeds were crossed. The result was positive. The breed is distinguished by precocity and excellent taste of meat.

Geese of breed Linda are characterized by a massive body and big weight. Three-month Linda, with proper cultivation, can reach a weight of 4 kg. An adult male weighs 8-12 kg, and the geese are slightly smaller - 7 kg.

The plumage of birds is white, a long neck with a bump in the form of a cone and a large head. Despite the meat orientation, the Linda breed is distinguished by high egg production. For a year, geese give an average of 50 eggs, each of which reaches a weight of 140-170 grams.

More geese are distinguished by their increased motherhood. If the eggs are fertilized, then the offspring can be expected up to 80%.

Another advantage of growing geese is their growth preservation even after shedding.

Positive characteristics

The main advantages of breeding at home:

  • rapid growth and weight gain
  • large egg production
  • the egg is large in size
  • strong, disease-resistant offspring,
  • high taste and nutritional qualities of meat,
  • endurance to severe weather conditions
  • calm temper and friendliness.

Growing geese Linda in no way inferior to other breeds, but on the contrary, it justifies itself by 100%. Their versatility is famous for sufficient egg production and meat orientation of breeding. To gusochki rushed, they do not need to create increased care. This white poultry gives a good gain of meat, and the quill and down has its industrial value.

Negative characteristics

In breeding geese Linda, there are several drawbacks:

  • constant access to fresh and clean water is required,
  • frequent infection of intestinal diseases,
  • the need for additional feed with a high content of vitamins and minerals in the spring.

But all the negative points can be compensated with proper care. In the spring to feed green grass and vitamins. Promptly identify an upset stomach, which, as a rule, reduces the activity of these hybrids, and take appropriate measures.

Subtleties of content

Starting breeding for both meat and eggs, it should be remembered that Linda should be in a warm place, without drafts. In the open space in summer, they need a shadow. For cultivation requires constant access to a drinking bowl with water and full feeders with food.

In the room where these white birds live, the floor is better covered with sawdust. In summer, goose fun becomes swimming and tingling grass in the meadows.

The bird house with geese Linda is recommended to be placed near rivers and reservoirs so that the goose family can swim and feeding, at least partially, takes place in wildlife.

The goose of this breed should not be in cramped, as it often leads to a decrease in egg production, infection with various diseases and loss of the goose feather. For every third goose, one nest must be identified, with no bottom. You can make it yourself on the assumption that the length will be 60 cm, width 40 cm, and height 50 cm, so that it is comfortable to sit in it.

You can keep Linda geese even without a walk, but you need to take into account the fact that the lighting in their home should be increased by 12 hours. And when females sit on the eggs, then an additional 1 hour per day, adding every month.

Lighting is also required for newly hatched goslings, especially in the first 10 days of life. In young chicks, this need is reduced.

When they reach 10-20 days, the light exposure can be reduced to 16 hours, and from 20 days to 1.5 months, 14 hours of light is sufficient.

In order to avoid stressful state in young animals, noise and sharp sounds are unacceptable. Goslings, like adults, have white plumage.

Feeding nuances

Before growing the Lindov breed, you must know what to feed these pet birds. They have an excellent appetite, and if nutrition is inadequate, they can produce unhealthy offspring.

Little goslings are fed with highly nutritious feeds. With age, feeding patterns change.

When geese reach an age of 1.5 months, supplements with a high content of multivitamins and proteins should be included in their feed.

How many different types of food can be used can be explained by good appetite and omnivorousness of this poultry. Feeding should be balanced and dry food, vegetables and herbs. When the geese will weigh about seven kilograms they can be sent to the face. If the bird is properly fed, it will be less susceptible to indigestion and various kinds of infections.

Similar breed - Landa

French scientists have bred Landa breed, designed for Foie gras. The dish consists of roasting fat goose liver.

After enhanced fattening, which is accompanied by a series of special techniques, up to 1.5 kg of liver is obtained, while the geese themselves weigh about 10 kg. A good egg production breed is no different.

Known for white plumage. The liver dish is a delicacy in French cuisine.

In Russia, there was also a production for raising geese with this technology. The beginning of the production of "fatty liver" began in the farms of Bashkiria. It was borrowed from French farmers.

Bashkir or Ufa goose liver is filled with about 28 restaurants in Moscow, which previously used French products. Such a liver has large weight differences from the ordinary. To ensure that the product is suitable, geese are subjected to intensive feeding from as early as three months.

Bashkir manufacturers ordered poultry from France. A very profitable business is built on the geese of the Landa breed.

Lind geese: breeding, characterization and description of the breed, as well as advantages and disadvantages

According to the well-known legend, Rome was protected from barbarians by geese. It was in the fifth century BC. But today geese are not bred for defense purposes.

These birds of agriculture give the owner valuable down, meat and feather. The most popular goose breed is Linda. In the Russian Federation, and in other countries, these birds are preferred to other breeds.

Lindov geese come from the Nizhny Novgorod region. Breeders bred these birds by crossing Chinese breeds with local ones. Then the breed was improved by breeding with the Arzamas, Solnechnogorsk and Landezh geese.

As a result of this work, breeders managed to bring out early ripened geese, which, when they reach two months, weigh about four kilograms.

Exterior and character breed Linda

Geese of breed Linda rather large. Their body is elongated. Feathers are extremely white. A distinctive feature of this breed is a tubercle on the forehead. Beak of a bird and its paws of orange color of various contrast. Eyes are small and dark.

The adult female Lindovska goose weighs about seven kilograms, the male weighs a pound more.

Geese Linda excellently side by side with other geese. Birds are very sociable and friendly both to relatives, and to people.

Conditions of poultry keeping and growing at home

The content of these birds is quite unpretentious.. Linda feels great both on a cold and hot day. The most important thing is to avoid drafts that have a detrimental effect on the health of geese.

Ideal conditions for the maintenance of the bird is a poultry house, which has a glade near pasture and a source of clean water. Such conditions for Lind closest to natural and allow them to develop well.

Content breed Linda on the street

If there is no possibility to provide a reservoir on the territory of the house, then take care of the water tank which will be regularly washed and changed. Water should always be clean. It is vital for the bird.

This breed of geese can be successfully maintained in closed equipped poultry houses. But there is one condition: for one bird at least 1 square meter of cage. If the birds are crowded, they will fall ill, stop laying eggs and even become bald.

Another important condition is the light. If the daylight of the female lasts less than 12 hours, then it ceases to rush. In order to extend the light day, you need to use artificial lighting. Each month, the day must be increased by one hour.

This is especially true for chicks. The first ten days from birth, the light should be all 24 hours, but after a while the light day can be gradually reduced.

  • Linda chicks who need 10 hours coverage from 10 to 20 days old
  • Chicks from 20 to 45 days is enough for a 14-hour daylight hours.

In order to save, you can periodically take breaks and turn off the light, but not for long.

The most important conditions for breeding Linda:

  • total absence of drafts,
  • lighting more than 12 hours
  • territory for walking.

Mature individuals become eight months old. The first three months, Goose Linda is gaining the bulk and weighs about four kilograms. The meat of this waterfowl is characterized as incredibly tender and soft. Their egg production is high.

All of these factors allow Linda geese to be the sales leader among all breeds of meat birds.

Egg laying bird

One goose can lay up to 65 eggs per year. This usually happens in spring. One egg weighs an average of 160 grams. Almost all eggs are fertilized.

Up to 80% of eggs remain viable in the incubator. From hatched chicks, 90% of all cubs live to maturity. To some extent, this is the merit of the female goose Linda, as she is considered the best hen.

For high goose egg production Calcium and green fodder needed. If these two conditions are fulfilled, and correct lighting is added to this, then it is quite possible to achieve decent indicators and provide yourself with eggs both for cooking and breeding geese of this beautiful breed.

Feeding the domestic geese Linda

These birds are incredibly voracious, so their food must be balanced and in sufficient quantity. An undernourished female will produce sick goslings, therefore it is strictly forbidden to limit Linda geese in eating.

The ideal option for feeding the birds would be broiler feed,

If there is no such place, then it is necessary to include vitamin complexes and protein in the ration of geese.

Nuances of breeding geese Linda at home

  • Usually a bird is slaughtered when it reaches five kilograms of weight. This is done mainly due to the fact that the birds require a large amount of feed and further feeding becomes economically unprofitable.

  • At the planned breeding of geese, when slaughtering, the most active and healthy individuals should be left.
  • Despite the costly food, the Linda geese will eventually pay for themselves completely, since 80 percent of pure meat comes from one goose.

  • In nutrition, Linda is not picky. They can be fed as a specialized feed, and the usual grain and grass.
  • From 28th to 50th day, Lipa feathers grow in chicks.

During this period, babies are incredibly sensitive to loud sounds and other irritation factors. This should be considered and to protect the chicks from the negative impact.

    Bird diseases: treatment and prevention

Like all other waterfowl, Linda get sick. Especially this happens when improper organization of bird care. The main measure of prevention of diseases in geese is cleanliness in the house, vaccination and enough space for one individual. Before settling new young birds in the poultry house, they must be disinfected.

The walls need to be whitened, completely remove the entire old litter and replace it with a clean and dry one. Chicks should be otpaivat weak pink manganese solution, as well as glucose. This procedure is carried out the next day after birth, which helps strengthen the immunity of birds and protect them from many diseases.

In the first week from birth, all goslings need to do enteritis vaccinationsto which the linda breed is subject. As a preventive measure for salmonellosis, chicks need to add a preparation called tylan to their food. This is done once every three months.

If someone catches in the livestock, then such an individual should be immediately removed from the house to another room. At the same time, the house should be completely treated with antiseptics, in order to avoid infection of other birds.
