Who is the "dominant"? Breed of dominant chickens: breed description, characteristics and reviews

Farmers and rural residents are well aware of the dominant chickens. This is a wonderful type of poultry, which has an excellent immunity, as well as undemanding to conditions of detention.

The breed was bred by Czech breeders, but to date, representatives of agriculture in more than 30 countries have already appreciated the advantages of the breed. This breed is popular not only in Europe, but also in the USA and the countries of South America.

Appearance of dominant chickens: description and photo

These birds look quite nice: they are decorated with rich plumage, which allows them to appear even more fattened. The body is massive.

The paws are short, which may make the bird seem even larger. The body is crowned with an elegant head of a small size, which is decorated with a comb and scarlet earrings.

In general, representatives of the dominant breed can be called beautiful women - their appearance really pleases the host’s eye.

This brings their owners considerable benefits, especially if you consider bird simplicity in food and the possibility of self-feed during free-range.

In this breed it is convenient that even at the very young age one can easily distinguish "girls" from "young people". The first have a darker plumage, cockerel lighter.

Temperament Czech hens and roosters

A meek character is another breed advantage. They can not be called aggressive, which is unusually beneficial for farmers.

In agriculture, this is an important factor: birds feel great in the open air, and indoors, at the same time, even in conditions of limited living space, they get along peacefully with each other.

However, this option is not the best. The ideal case - when you have the opportunity to keep the bird on the run. If there are problems with the territory, then accommodation in low cages is possible.

Since sunlight helps synthesize vitamin D, it is preferable that poultry can walk freely in the sun. This will allow them to be more healthy.

This valuable breed is suitable for breeding both in private households and for industrial production. However, if we are talking about a compound with a large number of birds, it is better to choose the dominant breed brown D102 and white dominant D159. In private homes, you can breed any kind of breed.

Characteristics and egg production of layers

Laying cross dominant breeds weigh 2.5 kg. Males are more massive - their weight is up to 3 kg. The excellent characteristics of the egg production of the breed are impressive even for experienced farmers - it can be carried up to 300 times a year.

At the same time carry eggs chicken start quite early. Its productivity is maintained until the age of 3-4 years. Egg weight - about 70 grams.

Species: speckled, brown, amber and blue

Chickens of this breed can be of the following varieties: blue, amber, speckled D 959, black, Sussex. There is no significant difference between the varieties, the main feature is a diverse color.

Blue dominant looks like an Andalusian breed. A distinctive feature is the ability to adapt to fairly severe weather conditions.

More productive. than many other species of breed. Some owners point out that blue chickens are not so good at hatching.

Variety amber dominant D843 different especially interesting color plumage. The literature indicates that this species has a good survival rate even in the rather harsh conditions of the highlands in Switzerland.

Efficiency - about 300 eggs. The average egg weight is 61.5 g. The weight of an adult layer is 2.2 kg. The color of the shell is brown. Temperament quite calm.

Breed speckled dominant D 959 - one of the most beloved by farmers. Externally similar to chickens breed speckled Plymouth. Mostly suitable for home farms.

The productivity of the variety is great - more than 310 eggs in 74 weeks. Layers reach 2.5 kg, roosters - up to 3.2 kg.

The most popular varieties are black and sussex.

Dominant black D 109. The advantage of this variety is the high productivity of more than 310 eggs with dark brown shells. Laying weight - 2.1 kg, average egg weight - 62.5 g.

Dominant Sussex D104 reminds breed Sussex light. It is widespread in Poland. Czech Republic, Italy.

Productivity - more than 300 eggs. Laying weight - 2.2 kg, average egg weight - 61 g.

Cultivation and feeding

Dominant chickens are so undemanding in food that they can find their own food by feeding on pasture (in case of open content).

It can be alternated with grain (barley, wheat). Even better - if the feed contains calcium. You can also pamper chickens with boiled vegetables, bone meal, add chalk to the food.

The preferred option is content of birds in large enclosuresas well as equipment of the house for artificial lighting for the winter season.

Interestingly, this wonderful breed calmly endures not only cold, but also excessive heat, as well as excessive humidity.

As for diseases, then here is dominant at height. Their survival rate is extremely high compared to other breeds. Still, prevention is a sensible step for young people. You only need to process adult chickens if you know for sure that a virus has arrived.

Reviews and videos about the breed

Farmers in various forums of agricultural direction praise the breed and give a description of the many advantages. You You can read reviews here:

Summing up, we can note that the dominant breed of chickens has a lot of advantages. This and the simplicity of the content, and unpretentiousness in food, and good health.

Among the shortcomings - Preferred outdoor content (not very well tolerated in the cells), and not the greatest weight of eggs.

The popularity of dominant chickens is increasing from year to year, and many farmers recommend breeding this particular breed of poultry - not only for reasons of economy, but also because of the calm nature and beautiful appearance of the hens.

Initial rocks

Who is the "dominant"? This is a specially bred egg-bearing breed of chickens. It was created according to a certain pattern, crossing known breeds "Cornish", "Leggorn", "Plymouth", "Rhode Island", "Sussex". Even some similarities with these breeds can be seen.

Breed "leggorn" has a very high productivity, "Cornish" - a large amount of meat with a small amount of food. Plymouth brood chickens - large, stocky, variegated, “Rhode Island” - have a rich plumage, “Sussex” - differ in the different color of chickens and cocks.

External signs of the breed

Externally, the dominant breed is distinguished by its large massive body and magnificent plumage, because of which it seems larger than it actually is. Visually even more stocky her short light yellow legs make her. With a large body, the head is small, a comb, earrings and a bright scarlet face. Earrings are round, small even in cockerels, but in chickens they are very small. The wings fit snugly to the body.

Breeders bred the breed not only highly productive, but also characterized by a beautiful exterior. Therefore, the "dominant" consists of twelve colored hybrids. According to the owners, the most beautiful species of the breed is the “blue dominant”.

Breed characteristic

Since the "Czech dominant" - chickens, first of all, egg-bearing, then their main characteristic is productivity. She is (of course, with the right content) 300 eggs per year per hen. A large “dominant egg” can weigh about 70 g. This is a fairly large number, usually an egg weighs about 55 g. Eggs, by the way, all colored hybrids have approximately the same brown color.

Another important characteristic of the "dominant" - per day one individual eats about 120-125 g of feed. That is, during the year only 45 kg of feed is needed for one chicken. At the same time, the layer already weighs 1.6 kg at 18 weeks (4.5 months), and at 72 weeks it reaches 2.5 kg. By one and a half years, a rooster weighs about 3 kg, depending on the conditions of detention, of course. Chickens "dominant" have high immunity, almost do not get sick, their survival rate - 94-99%.

At home, no one weighs chickens and eggs. Few people are engaged in counting eggs. According to reviews, only the livestock is counted or the number of birds killed for various reasons (for example, neighbors caged, a dog strangled).

Testing of egg production is carried out at the independent International Attestation Station in Ustrashitsy in the Czech Republic. The trial period of testing is 74 weeks (one and a half years). During testing, the number and average weight of eggs from one layer per year and the cost of feed per egg are determined.

It was by the test results that the main characteristics that distinguish the dominant breed were identified.

Breed description

Chickens of the "dominant" breed have practically no drawbacks. These are ideal layers, since the first year of productivity, they carry about 300 eggs per year. High productivity persists for another two or three years, then it declines.

“Czech dominant” - chickens are unusually resilient, can survive in different conditions, do not require special care either in heat or frost, or in high humidity, or in drought.

Chickens of this breed are unpretentious in food. Their bodies can get all the necessary substances, even from the lowest-grade feed. In addition, during the walk, they independently extract food and missing nutrients.

Chickens "dominant" have an interesting distinctive feature. Their gender can be determined immediately after hatching by the color of down. Those that are darker will be layers, lighter - cockerels. Even babies easily tolerate colds and temperature drops.

Strong immunity saves the "dominants" even from infectious diseases. True, with timely and proper treatment.

High survival rate (more than 94%) allows them to live to the age of 10 years. This chickens deep old age. Chickens continue to lay eggs, although productivity drops to 15%.

Breed feeding

The characteristics of the breed are wonderful, but in order to obtain high productivity, it is necessary to ensure that the feed contains calcium and protein in sufficient quantities.

Who is the "dominant"? Let the hardy and egg, but the chicken. And feed the bird of this breed should be ordinary chicken feed. These are grain (barley and wheat), corn, sunflower meal, boiled potatoes and carrots, yeast, pumpkin, millet, chalk, bone meal, greens. You can add feed. Fresh grass chickens will produce themselves.

Proteins are contained in the meal and cake not only sunflower, but also soy and rapeseed, in bone and fish meal, waste milk production.

Calcium is found in the eggshell, feed chalk, small shells, crushed bones.

Breed content

Until late autumn, chickens can walk in small enclosures. Since they do not fly, then the fence can not be done high. A bird spends the night and winters, as well as other breeds, in poultry houses with a thick bedding of hay, straw, sawdust, and dry leaves.

Birds are viable, even if there are no conditions for walking. But in order for the chickens to get the necessary vitamins, including vitamin D, it is better to provide them with a place to walk in the fresh air.

In the opinion of many owners of “dominant” chickens, in close cages, poultry fight, pecking to death the weaker ones. Therefore, one should not neglect the generally accepted norms of the area of space for one individual.

The egg production of the “dominants” is, of course, high, but the basic rules necessary to maintain this indicator cannot be violated. Lighting here plays a significant role. Therefore, in the house will need artificial lighting in autumn and winter to lengthen the daylight hours.

Experienced poultry farmers, judging by the reviews, warm the house and hang lamps in it, because unpretentiousness, of course, is good, but productivity is still more important.

Main breeds

Who is the "dominant"? How to correctly identify the signs of the breed, if it has many species that differ in the color of their plumage? Inexperienced poultry farmers may not cope with this task. Therefore, buying birds for breeding is better in specialized farms in order to avoid fraud.

The most popular are:

  • "Dominant sussex D 104", resembling the original breed, only productivity is much higher - 300 eggs per year,
  • "Dominant black D 109" gives 310 eggs per year from one layer,
  • “Blue D-107 dominant” differs in that it adapts remarkably in harsh weather conditions with productivity even higher than that of the black “dominant”
  • “Dominant brown D 102” can produce more than 315 eggs per year.

For cultivation in large poultry farms, experts advise to use "D 102" or "white D 159", in a private farmstead or in a small farm - "serocrypchaty D 959", "D 109", "D 104", "D 107".

The digital code is a variety, and the letter “D” is a breed of “dominants”.

"Dominant black"

Breed with the designation "D 109" unpretentious to the climatic conditions and content, popular in cool Europe and sultry Africa, Asia and Latin America. Laying birds easily tolerate climate change. Productivity is confirmed at the International Station. Chickens are distinguished by a white spot on the head; in the laying hens the head is dark in color.

One layer can carry a little less than 220 kg of eggs per year. Feed consumption per egg is 151 g. This data allows even an inexperienced farmer to draw up a business plan and calculate the cost of eggs. It is easy to understand that this is a profitable business, knowing the sale price and the profit that the dominant breed can bring. The breed description always includes the calm, friendly nature of the poultry. Is not an exception and "black D 109".

Reviews of farmers confirm the remarkable characteristics of the breed, but a balanced diet and favorable conditions help to maintain livestock and its high productivity.

"Dominant brown"

"Dominant D 102" is used in the conditions of intensive poultry farming. This species is popular in Asia and Africa, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Slovakia, Poland and Switzerland. She feels great in the unpretentious conditions of farms. Strictly speaking, only the “dominant 102” layer is brown, the cockerel is white.

The feed consumption per egg is slightly less - 149 g. For one adult, only 122 g of feed per day will be needed.

"Dominant blue D 107"

Many poultry farmers love the dominant variety (reviews confirm this) for the spectacular color of their plumage. But this is not its only advantage. In extreme climatic conditions of Africa in the industrial poultry industry, it shows remarkable stability and productivity. Adapts superbly on home gardens in the UK, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Switzerland, Latin America and Asia. Differs in good immunity.

At one kilogram of egg mass consumes 2.6 kg of feed. Eggs are usually medium in size with a strong brown shell.

"Red striped D 159"

Very beautiful plumage and in this species of breed "dominant". At the same time, high productivity remains - about 300 eggs per year. This hybrid is grown mainly in the garden plots. Laying birds quickly, cockerels - much slower.

In terms of feed consumption, both per individual and per egg are about the same as in other varieties. Therefore, in the household they are chosen by lovers of bright colors.

"Mottled D 959"

Very similar in characteristics and another hybrid with a very interesting, perhaps the most unusual speckled plumage - “speckled D 959 dominant”. Dots on feathers are arranged in a specific order.

It is grown in almost all countries of Western Europe, in Latin America and Asia.

High egg production — more than 310 eggs — has been confirmed at the International Attestation Station.

This hybrid is ideal for industrial breeding. It easily tolerates changing climatic conditions and transportation.

But, like many varieties of the breed, "D 959" is not suitable for meat. A young hen at the age of 18 weeks is already starting to lay eggs, and no more than 1.5 kg weigh at the same time.

So, who is the "dominant"? These are friendly, unpretentious, with beautiful coloring of a hen which remarkably are suitable for the maintenance in farms and on a private personal plot. They do not require large costs for the maintenance and feeding, but are very high productivity and longevity. They carry eggs not only for home use, but also for sale. The implementation of eggs "dominant" - a highly profitable business and affordable even for novice farmers.

Chickens are very hardy, can live in any conditions and does not require special care, so it is perfect for beginner poultry farmers. Easily tolerate heat, frost, drought, and vice versa, high humidity.

Dominants are a breed of egg-bearing tendency, capable of producing 300 or more eggs per year. Maximum productivity lasts 3 - 4 yearsthen goes down to 15%.

Unlike other breeds, it is very easy for Dominants to determine the floor almost immediately after hatching. Dark chickens - future chickens, lighter - cockerels. Chickens almost from birth are endowed with good health and less than others are subject to various colds. In addition, excellent tolerate sudden changes in weather.

Individuals of this breed have a very strong immunity, so they practically do not get sick. But if a pathogen virus appears in the household, they can easily cope with it, provided that the farmer-breeder takes care of the treatment in time.

Birds to the deepest autumn can be kept in small houseswith free range, or in aviaries. There are no special requirements for the type and quality of feed, but they must contain a sufficient amount of calcium and protein, necessary for obtaining the maximum number of eggs.

In the conditions of large poultry farms it is recommended to breed and grow such egg breeds of chickens as: Dominant brown D102, white D159 (see photos on the Internet).

For personal farms and farms are better suited:

Dominant serocrapular D959, black D109, silver D104, blue D107.

Chickens Dominant there are practically no flaws, because it was originally created as the most versatile egg breed. The dominant chickens are the perfect hens, capable of laying more than 300 eggs in the very first productive year.

Due to the high percentage of survival, unpretentiousness to the conditions of detention and nutrition, endurance and excellent immunity, these chickens can live to a ripe old age (9 - 10 years). Rich dense plumage allows them to endure even the most severe frosts.

Poultry breedersIn rural areas, the dominant chickens breed has long been known. This type of poultry is remarkable in that it is undemanding to the conditions of detention, has a calm disposition, and still has immunity to many diseases.

Dominant was withdrawn by Czech breeders in the small village of Dobřenica. But today the bird is bred in more than thirty countries around the world, appreciating the advantages of this breed. The dominant is popular not only in Europe and the countries of the former Soviet Union, it is grown in the USA, South America, Asia.

Breeding various chickens, breeders want to achieve the best breeds, which will have a high egg production, unpretentiousness to the conditions of detention, immunity to various diseases. After all, if chickens are massively dying, farms lose meat, eggs for a long time. And when the breed of chickens is unpretentious to food and conditions of housing, it can be grown even by those who cannot provide the bird with special feeds and create certain conditions for it. Just dominant refers to such unpretentious breeds. Characteristics of the bird:

  • Laying lays up to 300 eggs per year
  • Egg weight on average 70 grams,
  • Survival rate of young stock 95–97%,
  • A mass of chicken up to two and a half kilograms, a rooster up to three,
  • The average feed consumption per individual - 140-150 grams,
  • Good tolerability, high immunity.

Dominant is a hybrid. There is not one type of dominant, and their appearance may differ. This is especially true of feathering. But there are signs that unite them:

  • Small head, dense body of a relatively large size with a well-developed muscle mass,
  • Wings, like chickens and roosters, fit snugly to the body. The plumage is thick and dense. At the expense of what birds seem even larger,
  • Scarlet comb earrings bright red
  • Paws are painted in shades of yellow. The thighs are fleshy and have a clear outline,
  • The eyes are orange.

After the birth of chickens, you can immediately distinguish where the chicken, and where the cock. Those with a darker color - hens, lighter - usually cockerels.

The calm temper of dominant breed chickensis undoubtedly a big advantage. They are not aggressive and it is extremely beneficial for poultry farmers. Such calm behavior of the bird in their breeding plays a big role. They feel well, being on the street, on open space. And in a room where sometimes there is a big crowding, they behave calmly and get along well with each other. Of course, the constant maintenance of birds in small houses is not the best option. It will be ideal to grow chickens when they have the opportunity to walk. If there is not enough space for the territory that can be fenced off, it is recommended to keep birds in low cages. The bird should receive sunlight. It helps to synthesize vitamin D. Chickens dominants do not conflict with other birds, do not try to select food, and quietly wait for their turn. The black appearance of this breed adapts best to all other conditions of detention. Layers of dominants are always calm, non-irritating, but roosters sometimes have aggressive behavior.

But why do you need a rooster in a hen house, this article will help you learn.

Crosses for LPH

On the basis of dominant chickens were derived new subspecies, which are distinguished by external signs, productivity, color of feathers. The general advantages of crosses are:

  • High egg production,
  • Adaptation to various conditions,
  • Good low temperature tolerance,
  • Resistance to various diseases.

Farmers who have started breeding dominants will never change them for any other breed and always respond positively to them.

Dominant serocrapaty-959

Dominant serokrapchaty recommended to breed in small private farm lands. The color of this species is cuckoo. Plumage black and white. The bird is able to quickly adapt to the conditions of a cold climate, it is not subject to many diseases. A hen can carry about 300 eggs throughout the year. Weight of each up to 65 grams. The period of egg production on average lasts up to 78 weeks, during which the chicken gains about 2, 15 kg of live weight. The bird has a calm disposition, easily gets on with other representatives of birds.

Black D-109

Black dominant D-109 very rarely get sick, are endowed with high immunity, therefore, the survival rate of chickens is very high and the indicators of further viability can reach up to 99%. The plumage, both in females and males, is black, the earrings and scallops are bright, scarlet. In chickens dominant black cross D-109 is very well developed maternal instinct. This subspecies of hens cares about the incubation of young offspring, unlike some other breeds, the breeding of which without an incubator is almost impossible. Chicken per year can carry 300-315 eggs. Chickens of this subspecies are absolutely not shy, have a calm character, quickly get used to people and go on contact.

Blue D-107

The blue dominant hybrid D-107 possesses not only high egg production, but also a very effective color plumage. Chickens of this subspecies are grown in ecological farms, private household plots for egg production. Poultry farmers have long loved this type of chicken for its high egg production rates. On average, a hen lays 300 brown eggs. This subspecies adapts well to low or high temperatures, as well as to different conditions of poultry farms and household plots. Commercially these birds are bred in African countries. In a hot climate, the dominant blue feels great, unlike some other breeds of chickens. Immediately after birth, the sex of the chickens can be distinguished. Cockerels are striped with a white speck on the head, and the hens are dark without a speck.

The plumage of the dominant partridge resembles the plumage of wild birds. This subspecies of chickens has become popular due to the beautiful color of feathers. Sparkling with golden, brown colors, it looks like the plumage of an Italian golden breed. A hen for a year can carry 250–270 eggs, which is a relatively not very high figure. Chicken chickens are often bred for the purpose of obtaining aesthetic pleasure, like decorative birds.

Chickens subspecies Sussex white with a dark color of the tail and head. The survival rate of young individuals up to 18 weeks is quite high and amounts to 95–98%. Birds grow quickly and gain muscle mass. Half-year chicken weighs 1, 5–1, 7 kg. When providing sussex with good nutrition, the hen can produce 300–310 eggs per year with a brown shell. Peak bird productivity is reached by 18 months of life. Sussex is often bred in cold climates because chickens of this subspecies are resistant to low temperatures.

Dominants - hens of the egg direction. The weight of the female may be 1, 8–2, 4 kg, the male up to 3 kilograms. Layers start laying eggs quite early, from 4-5 months of age. The average egg production is 310–315 eggs for 365 days. The mass of each 60-70 grams. Often there are exceptions - eggs weighing up to 118 grams. For incubation, they are not suitable, as with two yolks.

The appearance of Czech beauties is quite diverse and depends on the parent lines.

Chickens can also be distinguished from cockerels by chickens. As a rule, females are dark, and males are light. If the color of chicks is the same, then the cockerels with a bright spot on the head.

The gender of some chicken crosses can also be distinguished by the wing plumage. Chickens fledge earlier than cockerels, so the last wings look as if they are a little cropped.

Brown Shell

The eggshell can be brown or white. There is an opinion among consumers that the darker ones are always homemade, and the whites are “incubatory”. This is not true. There is a definite connection between the color of the plumage and the color of the shell. Therefore, the color of the shell in this breed of chickens will be different. So the crosses D 104, D 107, D 300 have an outer hard shell of cream-colored eggs, all others are brown. In addition to cross Leggorn.

This corresponds to the color of their plumage, but contradicts the popular opinion among poultry breeders that the conditions of housing and feeding of laying hens will affect the color of the eggs. But at the same time, the pigmentation of their outer hard shell can change for a while for some time:

  • Stressful situation, which occurs a few hours before laying,
  • The use of certain drugs.

White color of the shell

The productivity of a particular breed of laying hens does not depend on the color of the shell. White plumage means the color of the outer hard shell of the product will be white and vice versa. More often than others, the white variety of dominant species is found in home gardens. The chickens have good precocity and they begin early laying at 5 months, continuing to rush continuously for about a year. The average annual egg production is about 300 eggs. Their weight ranges from 62 to 70 grams. But what some poultry breeders dislike is that the individuals of this cross-country are usually bad hens.

This breed of chicken meat and egg directions are often bred at home in order to save. They consume a small amount of food, moreover, it is completely picky in food. These birds are popularly bred in cold or hot climatic zones where other chickens cannot survive normally. For arranging the territory for walking, the dominants do not need high fences, they will not fly through fences. In addition, they can be diluted in large rooms, fences, and in small cells. Birds have a rather calm nature.

Dominants are not picky about keeping conditions, walking distance. But if there is such an opportunity, do not keep the birds locked up. They can get a lot of vitamins and nutrients themselves, digging in the ground and eating green grass, worms and insects. Being under sunlight, the bird fully receives vitamin D, and, accordingly, egg-laying rates increase.

It is advisable to purchase chickens from a reliable supplier or at specialized poultry farms.. Then the risk of disease is reduced.

If it so happened that the chicks were bought on the market, or they were taken out of the eggs they purchased, you need to know some of the rules for initial prevention.

Three days to feed the chicks with the antibacterial agent Levomycetin. One tablet per liter of water. Or Startonik or Chiktonikom, guided by the instructions attached to the medication. This procedure will strengthen the immunity of the young, reduce the risk of intestinal infections,
Add ascorbic acid, vitamin D to the water for drinking. For these purposes you can use Trivit,
When chickens grow up a little, in order to prevent them, give them Trisulfon or Farmazin. Act on instructions.

The necessary trace elements have already been added to the industrial starter feed for chickens. Enough to carry out the initial prevention described above.

The room in which chickens will be kept must be disinfected by treating the floor with quicklime. As a litter, you can use sawdust or finely chopped hay, straw, pre-mixed with peat. Peat in this case is useful in that it will protect the chickens from harmful microorganisms, absorbing excess moisture. Change the flooring should be as it is contaminated.

It will not be superfluous to add nettle to the feed for chickens (having previously poured it with boiling water), fish oil, sap. This will provide the young growth necessary for their developing organism with beneficial trace elements and vitamins.

If there are signs of disease in the chick (lethargy, lack of appetite), it should be isolated to eliminate the risk of infecting others.

For breeding adults, depending on the possibilities and the availability of free territory, you can choose a walking or cell method. Of course, the first option is preferable. The presence of birds in the fresh air, in the sun, has a positive effect on their bodies. So, productivity indicators will increase. Walking through the area for grazing, the birds themselves find useful substances, as well as some food.

The water in the troughs should be both in the maintenance room and in open areas.

Dominants are hardy and unpretentious to weather conditions, but still severe frosts can be disastrous for them. In order for the birds to be warm in winter, the room for their maintenance needs to be warmed. If the breeding of this breed of birds are engaged in regions where the temperature drops below -10, it is necessary to put heaters in the poultry houses.

Infrared lamps can serve as heaters in poultry houses. They will emit light, and, of course, give the birds the heat that is necessary for egg production. In addition, the risk of colds and death of chickens in extreme cold will decrease.

The content of hens is practically no different from other chickens.. It can be in cages, cages or on the territory for free range. It is important that the hens receive good nutrition. There are different types of feed for egg breeds, but if you can not buy them, all the same food should be balanced. In the diet of layers should include such ingredients:

  1. Grain (wheat, barley, corn).
  2. Ground Grass.
  3. Meat and bone meal, chalk, coquina.
  4. Boiled vegetables (carrots, beets, potatoes).

For better digestion of food, you can put any container with coarse sand or gravel poured into it.

In the room for keeping chickens should not be damp. For this you need to take care of the harvesting of peat and straw on bedding since summer.

It is recommended to keep no more than one rooster in the flock. By attacking one hen at the same time, they can injure her.

Dominant - a breed of chickens, possessing strong immunity and high resistance to various diseases. Birds of this species rarely get sick. Но это совсем не значит, что о них не нужно заботиться. В курятниках всегда необходимо поддерживать чистоту, давать птицам свежую еду. Появившимся цыплятам проводить профилактическое лечение, чтобы избежать риска появления болезней в будущем. The dominant breed of chickens combines several crosses, which differ in the color of their plumage. But they all have a number of advantages.:

  1. Unpretentious to the conditions of detention. The black subspecies optimally adapts to any changes.
  2. Easy to endure high summer and low winter temperatures..

General information

Under the name "Dominant" hiding several crosses, derived in the eponymous company in the Czech Republic. When using lines of chickens, Plymouth, Sussex, Rhode Island, Leggorn, Cornish get high egg productivity.

The most popular in industrial production are white D-529 and brown D-102. But these are chickens for large poultry farms, where it is possible to create almost constant conditions for feeding, lighting and temperature conditions. Any changes in the environment, care and maintenance immediately affect the productivity of the birds.

Dominant serocrate-959, black D-109, blue D-107, silver D-104, partridge D-300, etc. are offered for farms for farms, they are distinguished by greater simplicity and resilience. Detailed descriptions of all options you will find at the bottom of the article.

Earlier Czech broilers were also on sale: BR-11 and Red 22, however, they have not been offered for the last few years and have disappeared from the manufacturer’s catalogs.

Advantages and disadvantages

The undoubted advantages include their early maturation and, accordingly, the early onset of egg-laying. Large eggs of good taste attract buyers. Chickens dominant rush almost every day, subject to full feeding and favorable conditions of detention. If you provide additional lighting and heat, and rush in the winter cold, it is important only in time to pick up the eggs, so as not to crack.

Males grow pretty fast. At the age of 3.5-4 months, they can already be chopped for meat, while farmers note the pleasant taste of meat and broth.

The fertility of eggs and hatchability of them are close to 90%. In some subspecies, the safety of chickens is 98-100%.

But reviews on the dominant emit and disadvantages of the cross. These include, first of all, the demands on feed. Without high-grade, high-protein feeds and calcium supplements, chickens dramatically reduce egg production. This also affects the onset of egg laying, delaying it by -3 months.

When kept in close quarters in dominant breed chickens, pecking may begin. As a rule, there are no problems with cannibalism in chickens while walking.

Note farmers and stealth breed. Farmers often cannot determine if chickens have begun to fly, since the hens can lay them in secluded places. Secret nests appear if the bird does not have enough space for laying eggs, and also when the hen begins to quail, i.e. preparing for brooding.

The safety of the maternal instinct in crosses - a rare phenomenon, but the reviews say the dominants as conscientious broodens and caring wedges. Of course, for egg-bearing breed this is a minus, because the time of brooding and caring for chickens is lost for productivity. But if you want to get chickens without an incubator and grow them with the least problems, then the hen is a magic wand.

And the last minus: the dominant is in any case a cross, and not a full-fledged breed, therefore it will not be possible to breed them. The offspring will not preserve the qualities of their parents, the productivity will fall, exactly the same as that of the meat broilers of the Jersey Giant and the Hungarian Giant.

Chick Care Tips

When they buy chickens from a reliable, trusted supplier, there is usually no problem with them, because they have already received the necessary vaccinations. Therefore, chickens are actively growing, rarely get sick. And when the chicks were taken to the market or brought out of the purchased eggs at home, there is often a question about proper care.

Farmers recommend at the very beginning to feed the chickens a choice of a three-day course of levomycetin (1 tablet per 1 l of water), ASD-2 (1 ml per 3 l of water), Startonik or Chiktonik according to the instructions. This will increase their immunity, help with problems with gastrointestinal infections. Subsequently add ascorbine, vitamin D to drinking water. You can use trivit.

At older ages, trisulfone or farmazin can be given for prophylaxis, according to the instructions.

As a rule, when feeding chickens dominant industrial starter feed, including all the necessary elements, initial prevention is enough.

Before you place the chicks, the room must be sanitized by treating the floor with quicklime. For bedding use chopped straw or small chips and sawdust mixed with peat. Peat helps remove excess moisture and so protects against the multiplication of pathogenic bacteria. The litter needs to be changed as it gets dirty.

From two weeks of age, daylight hours should be reduced to 8 hours to prevent biting during the plumage. At this time, the chickens in the feed should have enough calcium and vitamins. Farmers are advised to add nettle (fresh or dried) to the feed, fish oil, feather ash and sap. They will provide the chicks with essential vitamins and trace elements.

If there is evidence of any disease, the diseased chicken must be isolated to prevent contamination of the rest of the herd.

Care for adult layers

In order for Dominant chickens to be brought in earlier, it is necessary to gradually increase daylight hours from 16 to 24 weeks from 8 to 16 hours. This is a manufacturer's recommendation. In the future, this value should be maintained, as the hens react very sharply to changes.

The content is normal, you can keep chickens in cages, in cages or on free range. The main condition - full feeding, it is important in the content of all crosses. If it is not possible to buy industrial feed for egg breeds, then you need to make mashes of several types of grain, chopped grass, boiled potatoes, and vegetables. In this case, the presence of barley or corn.

It is necessary to provide chickens with calcium for durable egg shell. To do this, ensure the availability of shells, meat and bone meal, chalk. For better digestion of food, you need to put dishes with coarse sand or gravel.

For the winter you need to prepare as much nettle as possible, this is the best tool for egg production. If there is a horse on the farm, the manure from it must be accessible to the hens. Passed through the horse's gastrointestinal tract oats also helps increase the productivity of chickens. Brooms can be made not on water, but on broth or infusion of hay.

Try to maintain consistency of diet and conditions of detention. Worsening conditions will quickly affect the reduction of egg production, and recovery will take much longer.

The coop should be dry. Excessive moisture contributes to various diseases. It is worthwhile to worry in advance about the stocks of peat and straw for bedding.

You can leave no more than one rooster in each herd. When competing, roosters can attack the same hen together. In the best case, it will end with wounds in the hen, at worst - it will also be pecked.

If the chickens began to cry, and this is undesirable, farmers advise 2-3 days to put the chicken in another herd. After suffering persecution and stress, the chicken usually stops asking for a hatching.

Subject to the rules of keeping and feeding, the Czech Cross Dominant will respond with a large number of large and tasty eggs.

Brown D 102 and D 192

Popular crosses, with a characteristic bright and attractive plumage. Suitable for cellular content, while the most common in Russia, Ukraine and other countries of the former USSR. However, with great success, the Favorite layer laying D102 and 192 are grown on the floor.

Grandparents: D102 in Rhode Island is brown for the male line and White for the female. In 192, Rhode Island Red and Sussex, respectively.

The productivity of both options - 300-315 eggs with a brown shell from a layer for 74 weeks of housing. Eggs are large: 62-63 gr.

Of course, like all industrial breeds of chickens for large poultry farms, Favorite chickens easily differ in sex. Males are light, closer to white, and chickens are brown.

The growing period is slightly more than 120 days, by this time the average bird weight is 1.8 kg, and the consumption per head reaches 6 kg.

From 4 months of life, egg-laying begins, during this period the feed consumption per head is 120 grams. With intensive maintenance, the hens work no longer than 18 months, then they are replaced. By the end of the work cycle, live weight is 2.2 kg.

Blue D 107

This hybrid has 2 distinctive characteristics: exotic plumage color and outstanding endurance. Favorite D 107 is viable and adapts to the most demanding conditions. It is especially recommended by the manufacturer for the southern regions. For example, in Africa, South America and Asia, the Blue variety is very popular.

According to the description of the appearance of Dominant D 107 similar to the Andalusian breed of chickens, but in reality, obtained from the crossing of the Blue and Striped Plymutrok.

To distinguish the rooster from them, look for a bright spot on your head. Without stains - layers. At 18 weeks, the D107 weighs 1.5 kg, the feed consumption is 6.7 kg (for the entire period). From the 78th week per day, the hen eats an average of 122 grams. By the end of the cycle, the chicken weight is 2.1 kg.

Productivity is also high, about 300 pieces in 17-18 months

Mottled, D 959

Inherited appearance from Mottled Plymouth (derived from the addition of Rhode Island blood). According to the productive characteristics it is very close to the crosses described above. Early onset of ovipositor (up to 5 months) brings fairly large dark brown eggs.

Favorite D 959 is actively grown by industrial poultry farms and private farmers from Africa to Russia. In Europe, its population is large in Switzerland and Austria, as well as in Ukraine.

The floor is also well defined, but in this case, not by the overall color of the feather, but by the wings. In laying hens, the second row of feathers is much more pronounced due to the fact that the feathering is faster. You can see this in more detail in the Dominant chickens photo:

Separation of the rooster from the hen: the last three rows of white feathers (bottom right).

In terms of live weight and feed consumption, the situation is the same as in the description above. But egg production is slightly higher, 306 eggs during the growing period (17-19 months).

Red D 853, Red striped D 159 and D 459

These three crosses are identical in all parameters except appearance. Derived from Red and Brown Rhode Islands. In hybridization D 459, Sussex also took part. Photos allow us to conclude which plumage colors you like more.

At 18 weeks the layer weighs 1.5 kg., During this time, on average, eats 6.5 kg. Stern. Next, the laying period begins, during which (up to the 80th week) 45 kg is spent on feed for one head.

Egg-laying is established from 4 months, in just 1.5 years the dominant Red breed of chickens will carry 306 brown eggs. The floor is also well defined by the length of feathers on the wing (see photo above).

Sussex D 104

This type of Czech dominant is intended in the manufacturer’s description for small farms and small farms. Characterized by a bright color. Obtained by crossing Sussex. The sex is determined in the same way as in the previous crosses, according to the length of the plumage on the wing (in feathers the feather grows faster).

Cross is widespread in Europe, from Italy to Switzerland. The productivity is slightly lower than the breeds described above, up to 300 eggs of a light beige color for a period of raising chickens up to 18 months.

Eggs are large, more than 60 grams., 44-46 kg is required for a cycle of content feed on the head. At 80 weeks of age, the layer weighs just over 2 kg.

Black, D 109 and D 149

Obtained by crossing Sussex with a Striped Plymouth Rock.

This direction is distinguished almost entirely by a black feather. Due to this, it is very simple to distinguish a rooster from a chicken at the age of one day: a characteristic cap of light down is noticeable on the head of males.

Black Dominant Favorite D 109 and D 149 produce about 300 brown eggs in a cycle of 80 weeks. Weight above average, about 60 grams. For other indicators do not differ from the breeds of chickens described above.

As seen in the photo of both species, the roosters got a bright appearance from Sussex, and the females of an exotic dark coloring.

Amber D 843

Very bright, almost festive Amber Dominants look decorative, especially for egg crosses. Their first parents are White and Brown Rhode Island. They have the highest productivity, about 308 eggs with a brown shell.

By other parameters, they are close to the already considered chickens. They are seamed along the length of the plumage on the wing (in the hens it is longer).

Leggorn D 229

These are completely white chickens, in the adult state of the rooster it is easiest to distinguish by a darker and more powerful crest (see photo below). In chicks, the separation is carried out according to the description of the cross above.

Ancestors, as the name implies - White Leggorny on the maternal and paternal lines. Unusually popular in Poland, actively sold on the market of Belarus, a few years ago appeared in Russia.

But the weight of the bird itself at 79 weeks is minimal: up to 2 kg.

Sussex D 304

Designed, according to the manufacturer, for a warm and humid climate. His skin is yellow, however, this is not very important due to the fact that the demand for laying meat is virtually absent.

The best conditions for this cross - free range, the so-called free range. Therefore, Favorite D 304 is ideal for private households. Having consumed during the effective cultivation (1 year 6 months) only 45 kg. feed, it will give 250-260 large (61-62 g) white eggs.

By 1.5 years old chicken weighs 2.2 kg. The floor is also determined by the length of the feather on the wing (they develop much more slowly with the rooster).

Interestingly, the name Sussex Cross was obtained from the Colombian Leggorn on the paternal and maternal lines.

Painted D 723

In the official documentation Dominant D 723 is incorrectly translated as "Tinted". This is a brand new cross, the latest development of the Czech manufacturer. In Russia, while there are no reviews on it, it is shipped only to Poland.

The stated egg production figures are impressive: 315 cream-colored eggs with an average size of 62 grams! And this is at 115 gr. feed on the head per day.

This hen will not decorate the hen house (see photo above), but they do not expect much aesthetics from the cross. D 723 - strong, small in size, due to which improved feed conversion is achieved and production cost decreases. Differ by sex on the length of the feather on the wings, just as it was described above.

It remains to wait for the approbation of a new hybrid in Europe, after which you can safely import it to us.
