Pharmacological (biological) properties and effects

Antiparasitic drug. Ivermectin, which is part of the drug, enhances the production of neurotransmitter inhibition - gamma-aminobutyric acid, which leads to impaired transmission of nerve impulses, paralysis and death of the parasite.

It has a pronounced antiparasitic effect on the larval and sexually mature phases of the development of nematodes of the gastrointestinal tract and lungs, the larvae of subcutaneous, nasopharyngeal, gastric gadflies, lice, bloodsucker and sarcoptoid ticks.

After parenteral administration of the drug, ivermectin is rapidly absorbed from the injection site and distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal, providing a parasiticidal effect for 10-14 days. Excreted in the urine and bile, in lactating animals also with milk.

According to the degree of impact on the body, according to GOST 12.1.007-76, Ivermek belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3), the active ingredient, ivermectin, belongs to extremely hazardous substances (hazard class 1). In recommended doses, the drug does not have an embryotoxic, teratogenic and mutagenic action, it is rapidly destroyed in the external environment.

If the volume of the injected solution is more than 10 ml, it should be administered to the animal in several places.

The treatment of animals with nematodoses is carried out in the fall before staging on the stall maintenance and in the spring before taking out to pasture, against gadfly invasions - immediately after the end of the summer gadflies, against the arachno-entomoses pathogens - according to indications.

Each batch of drug is pre-tested on a small group (7-10 heads) of animals. In the absence of complications within 3 days proceed to the processing of the entire population.

Veterinary Description

Ivermek - Veterinary Medicine, often used as a broad-spectrum anthelmintic drug. It also effectively fights deprivation and parasitic diseases caused by arthropods (arachnoentomoses).

The form of release of medicinal substance Ivermek - solution for injections. A milliliter of the working solution contains ten milligrams of the active ingredient - ivermectin. In addition, the solution contains forty milligrams of tocopherol acetate, known as vitamin E. The rest of the preparation is filled with auxiliary substances.

The solution for injection is almost transparent, with a barely perceptible specific odor. The substance is packaged in dark, glass containers (volume from 1 ml to 500 ml), sealed with rubber caps, which are additionally wrapped in a layer of aluminum. Capacities from 400 ml to 1 thousand ml are made of special plastic and corked with plastic covers.

The drug should be kept in the dark and cool, far from children, as indicated in its instructions for use. For animals Ivermek can be used for two years, provided that its vial is not compromised. It is worth noting that only forty-five days are given in order to use the opened bottle. Then the drug becomes unsuitable for further use.

This veterinary medicine is absolutely non-toxic if used strictly according to the instructions. It does not affect the development of embryos and very quickly resolves after the introduction into the muscle tissue of the animal.

The drug shows increased efficiency in the fight against nematodes and cystodes, parasitic on the tissues of the liver, lungs, gastrointestinal tract and heart. It destroys most of the known types of ectoparasites - ticks, fleas, lice, gadflies and mosquitoes.

The breakdown products of the drug are excreted by the kidneys and bile secretions. In females that feed their offspring, the substance is excreted along with the milk.

Method of application and indications for use

Ivermek is used for goats, camels, sheep, cattle, pigs, deer, as well as for horses. The Ivermek manual contains information that it should be used when helminths occur in animals that are localized in the gastrointestinal tract and lungs, as well as in cases of such diseases as:

  • trichocephalosis,
  • cestodes,
  • esophagostomosis,
  • strongyloidiasis
  • toksokaroz,
  • nematodoses,
  • scabies,
  • ascariasis

Good results can be achieved when applying Ivermeka from worms in young farm animals: calves, pigs, foals. The drug is also effective in mallophagosis, psoroptosis, lice, demodicosis, colitis and subcutaneous or nasopharyngeal gadfly. Young poultry (chickens, goslings, ducklings and turkey poults) are prescribed for the treatment of entomoses caused by Deriatorktes mutans, Ceratophyllus gallinae and Aphaniptera spp.

The drug is injected only once during the prophylactic or therapeutic season, by intramuscular injection:

  • Cats and dogs injections put in the muscle between the shoulder blades or withers.
  • For an adult pig or piglet suffering from colitis, the substance is injected into the thigh muscle - inside the thigh, as well as into the muscles of the neck.
  • Other animals are advised to inject into the neck or croup.

The following dosages of Ivermek are recommended:

  • Cats, rabbits and dogs should receive a milliliter of the drug per 5 kg of body weight.
  • Pigs and piglets can get a milliliter of substance per 33 kg of its mass.
  • Horses, cattle and small cattle (sheep, goats) should receive a milliliter of medicine for every 50 kg of body weight.

The dose of a substance of ten milliliters for better resorption must be entered in different places of the body, because this dose is considered to be quite large.

Agricultural animals should be injected before determining their wintering (stall period), as well as before the beginning of the pasture season.

For the prevention of bloodsucking larvae (gadfly) larvae, the medicine is used immediately after the summer. Against arachnoentomozov or ectoparasites drug is used as needed - during the entire period of activity of the parasites.

The drug can be administered twice only in severe cases of defeat worms. Then injections are done at intervals of seven to ten days.

Like all veterinary or medical drugs, Ivermek has a hazard class. It belongs to the category of moderately dangerous veterinary drugs.

An adverse reaction to this medicine can give animals that have some sensitivity to the active substance or to its other components.

The drug is categorically contraindicated in the following categories of animals:

  • females awaiting offspring,
  • weak or malnourished individuals (for example, those who have just been ill),
  • sick animals.

If, after an injection, an animal develops depression, gastrointestinal upset, lack of appetite or allergies, this is a manifestation of hypersensitivity to the drug. This condition is usually not dangerous for him and passes spontaneously within two to three days. In addition, there may be a slight increase in temperature in young animals, for example, in calves. Sheep can react to the drug by frequent urination, depression, and disruption of the gastrointestinal tract.

If the condition of the animal does not improve within three days after the injection, these are signs of a possible overdose. There is no special detoxification agent for Ivermek, therefore symptomatic therapy is carried out, and the drug is later replaced with a similar one. For example, you can use Ivermezole, Ivermin, Ivermepharm, Iverveksan or Iverlik. You can also use another similar drug containing ivermectin - Ivomek, instructions for use which is similar to the instructions for Ivermek. It is worth emphasizing that the choice of a similar drug should be the responsibility of the veterinarian.

If the farm is planned to be slaughtered, then it should be borne in mind that the meat of animals treated with Ivermek can only be eaten twenty-eight days after injection. This also applies to milk. If slaughter took place earlier, then the meat of dead animals is recommended to be fed to fur-bearing animals or sent for the production of meat and bone meal.

And a little about the secrets.

The story of one of our readers Irina Volodina:

My eyes were especially frustrating, surrounded by large wrinkles plus dark circles and swelling. How to remove wrinkles and bags under the eyes completely? How to cope with swelling and redness? But nothing is so old or young man as his eyes.

But how to rejuvenate them? Plastic surgery? I found out - no less than 5 thousand dollars. Hardware procedures - photorejuvenation, gas-liquid pilling, radio lifting, laser facelift? Slightly more accessible - the course is 1.5-2 thousand dollars. And when to find all this time? Yes, and still expensive. Especially now. Therefore, for myself, I chose another way.
