Ticks can trigger the development of piroplasmosis in domestic animals. To prevent such a disease, it is necessary to prevent the attack of ticks and other parasites on pets. To do this, apply various tools in the form of drops on withers, collars and sprays. One of the most effective is the drug "Frontline". The feedback on this tool is mostly positive. It is about him, our article.

The composition of the tool

The drug "Frontline" (the price of the drug depends on the volume of the pipette and is in the range of 220-400 rubles) is a drug insecticide-acaricide in the form of a colorless transparent solution with a specific odor exclusively for external use. The main active ingredients of the drug are S-methoprene - 8.8% and fipronil - 9.8%, auxiliary - polysorbate and polyvidone.

pharmachologic effect

The drug "Frontline Combo" (instructions for use will be described below) has a pronounced contact insecticoacaricidal effect. Active in the preimaginal and imaginal phases of development of lice, ticks, lashes, fleas, which can parasitize cats or dogs.

Under the action of fipronil, which is part of the drug, GABA-dependent receptors of parasites are blocked, transmission of nerve impulses is disturbed, and as a result, paralysis and death of ectoparasites.

S-methoprene inhibits the function of juvenile hormone, which is involved in the formation of chitin, resulting in impaired development of eggs and larvae of a future flea.

When applied to the skin, absorption of the drug does not occur. The remedy gradually, over the course of a day, is distributed over the surface of the body and, lingering in the sebaceous glands, has a long insecto-acaricidal effect in places where ectoparasites accumulate.

The drug "Frontline" (reviews can be read on the forums) - low-risk tool. If used in recommended doses, the drug does not have a skin-resorptive, embryotoxic, sensitizing, mutagenic and teratogenic effect. If substance gets into eyes, mild irritation may develop.

Indications for use

Apply a remedy to get rid of dogs and cats from fleas, lashing, lice and ticks. “Frontline” is used as follows: break off the tip of the pipette with the medicine, spread the fur in the animal's back area and apply the drug at several points. Frontline is also able to act on pests even at the stage of eggs and larvae, destroying their chitinous shell.. For the animal itself, the drug is safe, as it does not penetrate into the blood, but only accumulates in the sebaceous glands.

Frontline reviews

I use Frontline for more than two and a half years, using ticks during the attack. I drip on the withers first and spray a little. Quite a bit. As a result, no ticks! and earlier, five pieces after the walk took off.

A wonderful tool and most importantly, what is convenient, there is a large dosage! Up to 60 kg. I have three bullmastiffs, so it is very convenient and it turns out even cheaper than buying separately and combining, calculating grams.

I am absolutely pleased with the use of Frontline. We discovered it about three years ago. From personal observations: I noticed that the drug, which is produced by France, acts much more efficiently than that produced in Poland. When buying, I always choose France, in the same pharmacy, works with a bang. But an important point! Dog breeders shared that some dogs have Front Line intolerance. It can reach anaphylactic shock and even death.

Important! And you can not use together with the "anti-flea" collars in any case!

Description and effect of the drug

One of the most well-known medicines in this series is drops on the withers for Frontline Combo dogs.

It is based on two active ingredients - fipronil and (S) -methoprene. Fipronil acts on adult parasites, causing paralysis in contact with them, which leads to their subsequent death. A (S) -methoprene affects the eggs and larvae of insects, thereby interrupting the cycle of their development, and hence the risk of re-invasion. Plus, this feature will help protect the dwelling itself, because the reproduction of these parasites and further infection of the dog’s habitat stops completely.

All drops for Frontline dogs have the same principle of action, so the instructions for them are almost identical. Immediately after contact with the skin of the animal, the substance begins to be distributed and gradually cover the entire skin and coat. This process is completed within 24 hours. The drug does not enter the bloodstream, but accumulates in the outer layer of the skin, hair follicles and sebaceous glands, creating a protective barrier. This kind of shield protects the dog from ticks for four weeks, and from fleas - 4-12 weeks. The duration of the protective effect can be affected only by frequent bathing of the pet with shampoo (more than 2 times a month).
