Chausi cat is considered to be one of the rarest breeds of domestic cats. Their breeding is limited to the American continent, with only a few people doing it. Breeders who control the development of this breed, very carefully ensure that breeding animals do not fall into the hands of inexperienced breeders. The fact is that their crossing is permissible only with ordinary short-haired cats and with Abyssinian cats.

The origin of the breed

For centuries, wild cats have loved to settle near human habitation. Often they climbed into abandoned houses. This was directly related to the fact that a large number of mice lived in the abandoned huts, which served as a source of food. Close proximity to humans increased the ability of wild felines to interbreed with domestic cats. Most of these hybrid animals are observed in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

For a long period of time, no one paid attention to hybrids running through the streets of Egypt. But once they still attracted the attention of an American tourist, connoisseur of the cat. It was on his initiative that the project of breeding was established on the basis of these vagrants, a new, one might say, elite breed.

The breeding program, which resulted in the Chazi cat breed, began in the United States of America at the end of 1968. The program was based on domestic cats living in Egypt. Breeders who are interested in unusual creatures, which surprisingly combine the features of a wild and pet, took a few cats to America. As a result of research, it was established that even the marsh lynx is listed in the ancestors of the Chausi. It was from her that the Chawzi cat received a lean body with developed muscles, strong limbs and large sizes. The breed was registered in the TICA registry in 1995. The official status was highlighted in 2003.

Chausi (cat): breed description

This cat is almost twice the size of all other domestic cats. The athletic constitution of an animal with large ears, topped with small tassels, gives the impression of a small cougar, as breed admirers so often call their favorites. The distinctive features of the breed are the so-called false eyes, which are located on the back of the ears. These are small spots that resemble the shape of the eyes. Their purpose in the wild is to scare off enemies from behind. “I look at you,” they say to those who approached the cat from behind.

Chawzi - a cat with a large, massive head. Strictly outlined angles of the cheekbones and a developed chin give the appearance of an animal a primitive wildness. The eyes are large, almond-shaped, rich green or bright yellow. As befits in the animal world, cats are more massive than cats, and larger in size. They can grow up to forty centimeters at the withers. The weight of animals can approach the mark of fourteen kilograms.

The long tail of the animal should be equal in length to two thirds of the entire body of the animal.

Chausi cats, reviews of which can be heard from American cat lovers, attract first of all the attention of special wool. The thick and dense short hair of these animals has an unusual silk luster, iridescent in the sun.

To date, the cat Chawzi is presented in the following colors:

  • The black.
  • Silver.
  • Ticked.
  • Ticked tabbies.

Breeding chauzi

It is very difficult to breed these capricious animals. Chawzi - a cat whose price is quite high, it does not bring uniform offspring. Most often, she gives birth to quite ordinary, unremarkable kittens. Only occasionally do breeders manage to get the desired result. In addition, most cats of this breed for genetic reasons are not able to reproduce offspring.

All these circumstances in the aggregate and became the reason that the cat Chauzi received the status of a rare and expensive animal, which is difficult to breed.

Behavioral features

The character of Chausi, a cat with a predatory gaze and a graceful body of a wild animal, is striking in its kindness. Representatives of this breed will gladly rub against the legs of their owners and barely audible purr them, reminding them of their tender feelings - the breeders are talking about this. These are very sociable animals, nevertheless their wild roots make themselves felt - they are big fans of running with obstacles. Without a doubt, they will master all hard-to-reach places in the apartment: shelves under the ceiling, mezzanines and high cabinets.

Wherever a chawzi cat lives, it must feel free, it is desirable to provide her with active walks in the fresh air. Representatives of the breed are good for walking on a leash. With them, no problem, you can walk in the garden and in the park. Wild animal energy must find a way out. Otherwise it is fraught with unpleasant consequences for the furniture in the apartment. This can be avoided by providing your pet active games and walks.

Animals are very sociable. They willingly find common language with children. Get along well with other cats and dog representatives. But we should not leave them alone with hamsters, parrots and other small animals. The hunting instincts will surely prevail, and chausi can even “play” very badly.

Features feeding chauzi

The digestion of these cats deserves special attention. Breeders claim that this is a problem area of the breed, as animals tend to overeat. Cereal crops are especially harmful to them. Therefore, it is not necessary to feed the Chausi industrial feed containing a large number of them.

You must also ensure that animals do not overeat - this tendency remained with them from wild ancestors.

Exotic pet care

Chauzi wool care is uncomplicated. It is quite enough to comb it out with a massage brush once a week. Relatively calm, they are related to water procedures. However, do not abuse it, so as not to wash out the natural fat on the skin of animals and not to spoil the wool.

Apart from the tendency to overeat and heavy perception of cereal crops, chazi cats have excellent health. Apparently, the animals got good immunity from their wild ancestors. They practically do not have infectious diseases and do not catch cold.

According to officially confirmed data, several states are engaged in breeding. These are Nevada, Arizona, Florida and California. Breeders of breed are registered in France. Unconfirmed sources of information reported on the Russian nursery, located in the suburbs, and the nursery in Ukraine.

Breeding kittens

Growing kitten chauzi does not present any difficulties. They do not require special care. All that is needed is to limit the amount of the daily ration and to provide a small friend with games and entertainment. An interesting fact is that even the heavily played out chauzi kids do not scratch at all. Feeling human skin under the claws, they immediately hide them in the pads and continue the game with a completely soft foot.

Summing up, we can say that, despite the rather high cost of kittens - it ranges from 8 to 20 thousand dollars, their purchase will bring many pleasant minutes to the house.

Breed history

The cat breed Chawzi owes its origin to the reed cat - the unsurpassed representative of the wild nature, which he was lucky to have crossed with a short-haired domestic cat. Although the first attempt of breeders and was made more than fifty years ago, now the breed retains the position of one of the most rare because of the difficulties of reuniting a wild animal with a pet.

Character traits

Chausi cats differ from traditional cat breeds, first of all, by attachment to their owner, which is more typical for dogs. Sociable, playful and friendly - they are recognized by breeders as the best companion cats, but their habits and temperament will not suit apartment dwellers. It must be remembered that the breed of cats Chawzi descended from a wild animal and this affects their behavior. Chouzi cat is not afraid of water, loves heights and will not refuse to train. In addition, it is characterized by thrift. Representatives of this breed often hide the objects they need in secluded places, and the potential owner will have to come to terms with this feature.

Chauzi breed description (appearance)

  • Size: a large animal, the average height at the withers is 35-40 centimeters, and twice as long as the size of an ordinary baleen cat. Cats are much larger than cats.
  • The weight of this, purebred, with a good share in the blood of a wild reed cat, is about 15 kilograms.
  • The head is neat, small, with a pronounced chin and cheekbones.
  • The ears are large, set high, with decorations in the form of tassels, but only in black.
  • The eyes are large, slightly slanting, ranging from amber to greenish-yellow.
  • The neck is muscular, short.
  • The body is long, with a well-developed chest.
  • Paws are athletic, long.
  • The tail, according to the standard, is equal to ¾ the entire length of the animal.
  • Wool is short, elastic, thick, has the properties of water repellency. Also wool is shiny and iridescent, like silk. Each hair is unevenly colored several times (this phenomenon is called ticking).
  • The color is available in 3 color options: black, ticked silver and ticked tabby. Drawing on the cat's body can not be blurred on the head, tail or paws.
  • The voice of the cats is quiet, calm.

Maintenance and care

Additional pet grooming is not required, it is enough to comb out the chauzi once a week, but with walks it is different. Representatives of this breed need outdoor games and jogging in the fresh air.

In order for an animal not to become wild and obedient, it is often necessary to spend time with it, especially at an early age, when the pet is only accustomed to its new habitat.

Despite the fact that the rest of the whims of this breed is not much, even considering its exoticism, you must be extremely careful in food. To avoid frequent visits to the vet, the cat should follow a gluten-free diet and eat raw meat, with the exception of pork.

The gluttonyness of the chouzi cat can be envied, and for this reason, everything that the animal has not eaten should immediately be removed from view, leaving only water.

Do not forget that the representatives of this breed need vitamins immediately after they lose their mother's milk and should receive a complex with calcium before the age of two.

It is precisely because of the nuances of breeding that the breed of cats is still rare and expensive.

At the first stage of breeding, a real reed cat and a short-haired domestic cat are needed (more often representatives of the Abyssinian breed are used for breeding). It is thanks to their crossing that you can get purebred kittens Chausi.

Interesting Facts

  1. Another indicator that in front of you is a unique animal can be considered as dividing the breed into species, which depend on the degree of kinship with the reed cat.

Chawzi, breed description referring to branches (F):

F1 is a direct descendant of a wild animal. The percentage of reed cat blood 50%

F2 is a descendant of chausi, which is descended from the first species (F1), the percentage ratio of the blood of a wild animal is at least 25%,

F3 is a kitten whose parents are chauzi F2. Accordingly, 12.5% blood,

F4 is a descendant of chausi F3 with at least 6, 25% of the blood of a reed cat,

F5 is the last species that originated from the fourth branch. The blood of the wild ancestor in this case will be at least 3, 12%.

Based on the data of breeders, the first branch, which is close to its origins, is more valuable. Representatives of this species are not the easiest character and less trained than others.

If we compare the first branch and the fifth, then we can safely say that F5 is social and has standard body sizes.

For those who show an interest in directly breeding animals, it is worth remembering that F1 litter is often fruitless.

Despite the fact that Chausi gets along well with other animals, its contact with rodents and birds should be avoided. Even if the pet has long lived next to the person and executes commands, do not underestimate the fact that he is delirious with hunting and at any moment blood may prevail.

These active representatives of the cat family are very fond of outdoor games, and those who decide to start such a pet are recommended to provide the animal with physical exertion not only on land, but also in water.

Chauzi cat is still one of the rarest breeds and breeders in the USA are officially breeding it, very rarely it can be found in other countries, they often profit from lovers of strange animals who are willing to pay any money for a rare specimen.

Breed description Chauzi

The description of the Chausi could be put in the poem "Predatory and Beautiful." The way chausi looks like, how it walks, how it looks should be sung in verse, but until a decent drink was found, all of the above is already sung by breeders and is called the breed standard:

  1. The head of the chauzi is small, its differences are strong chin and angular cheekbones:
  • nose straight, elongated. In general, a chawzi profile is a classic hunter profile,
  • ears, like a good hunter, of course, on top! They are wide, upright, decorated with tassels at the ends and this adds to the representatives of the breed a special predatory charm,
  • Chausi eyes are beautiful. This description would be sufficient, but according to the breed standard, you need to add that the eyes are slightly slanted, preferably amber. But not only yellow, but also greenish-yellow and green shades are allowed,
  • the neck of the small pumas is short, wide, but very muscular.
  1. The body is long and elegant. The size of most animals is large and this must be considered by the future owners. The chest is deep; the cat's tail is three-quarters of its length. Limbs strong, long, large paws.

Adult weight - 10 - 15 kg. Cats are much larger than cats, but ladies-cats are much more active than cavalier cats!

  1. Wool and color. The coat is short and very thick. Visually, the coat of the chauzi is shiny and tactile is elastic. Every guard hair is tipped at least twice. How to determine by color that in front of you is not a chauzi? Before you is definitely not an official representative of the breed, if it is trite gray, red or white. Representatives of the breed can be painted exclusively in three colors - black, ticked silver or ticked tabby.

IMPORTANT! The tip of the tail and the tassels on the ears in any color are only black. The drawing on the body of the chauzi may be indistinct, but not necessarily blurred on the head, legs and tail, but on the neck be arranged like a “necklace”.

Appearance (as well as character) of domestic predators directly depends on the generation and the percentage of House's blood (that is why the name came in handy!). These signs are denoted by the letters F (branch):

  • F1 - at least 50% of House’s blood or one of the parents (father) was House,
  • F2 - not less than 25% of House's blood, one of the progenitors was House,
  • F3 - House's blood 12.5%
  • F4 - 6.25% House blood,
  • F5 - 3.12% House blood.

The higher the percentage, the "correct" character. And about this - below.

Reviews of Americans, as people who are closely acquainted with Their Majesty, are one - Chausi is the best companion cat. But let's be objective, “wild” blood still affects the character of the animal. Yes, they are very sociable, yes, they are gentle and gentle, but the genes of Papa House make them do things that are unthinkable for domestic cats.

Chauzi adore water, with pleasure not only swim, but also go in for water hunting! They love the height and in your home occupy high cabinets, a shelf under the ceiling, a mezzanine and a bookcase.

They make stocks. Unnoticed by the master's eye, Chausi can grab the right one and hide it in a place known only to him. You will periodically stumble upon these caches.

Chausi cats and cats need to communicate so much that, in the absence of a host, they can even become friends with a watchdog. In addition, they love to learn, and therefore from time to time they need to hold master classes on something interesting and then, of course, put on tasty marks.

And, considering the considerable size of the pet, it is better to immediately allocate a place for games for the kitty chauzy kitten, otherwise with time you will begin to worry about the integrity of your whole house.

In general, this breed of cats will feel better in a private house than in an apartment, especially if there is a large yard.

Wild ancestors endowed the breed with good health, but not without errors:

  • minipum has a sensitive digestion and this must be taken into account when forming their diet,
  • The generation of Chausi F1 is difficult to get used to the tray,
  • one more nuance emerges at puberty - males up to the third generation are sterile.

Care and maintenance

Chausi are very, very active cats. They can not be locked in four walls - there is boring and not at ease. Therefore, they absolutely will not object to a walk on a harness, and for periodic forays into nature will be sincerely grateful to you!

Weekly brushing is enough to keep the coat at its best.

IMPORTANT! In no case do not feed the pork, it can cause Aujeszky's disease.

Chawzi are voracious, because the remnants of food is better to remove from their sight. If you get hungry, sometimes it's better to drink some water once again.

They should be given vitamins and calcium from the moment of transition from milk to 2 years every day.

Where to buy a kitten chauzi

This chauzi is very difficult to buy, and in Europe it is almost impossible. This is due to the breeding characteristics of the breed. Nurseries are mostly afraid to face difficulties, so some brave breeders deserve medals for bravery. Therefore (including) the price is so high for a small miracle with brushes.

On average, the cost ranges from 200 to 500 thousand rubles (2-5 thousand dollars). Separate kittens cost ... sound of fanfare ... 1 million rubles with a tail!

How much is a cat of this breed ?! You heard right! Today, the Chausi nursery is even more rare, but in Russia, in Ukraine and in Belarus they have already begun to appear.

And a little about the secrets.

The story of one of our readers Irina Volodina:

My eyes were especially frustrating, surrounded by large wrinkles plus dark circles and swelling. How to remove wrinkles and bags under the eyes completely? How to cope with swelling and redness? But nothing is so old or young man as his eyes.

But how to rejuvenate them? Plastic surgery? I found out - no less than 5 thousand dollars. Hardware procedures - photorejuvenation, gas-liquid pilling, radio lifting, laser facelift? Slightly more accessible - the course is 1.5-2 thousand dollars. And when to find all this time? Yes, and still expensive. Especially now. Therefore, for myself, I chose another way.

    5. Silver ticked tabby. The rarest and most expensive color in the breed. This color is distinguished by the fact that the wool is silver with dark tips.

Branches of breed

The behavior and appearance of the chaouzi is affected by the generation to which the cat belongs. The generation is denoted by the letter F (branch) and number. Shows the percentage of Felis chaus blood in a cat's blood.

  1. F1. First generation. The content of wild blood is at least 50%. The direct descendant of Felis Chaus.
  2. F2. Second generation At least 25% of the blood of Felis chaus. Direct descendant of the F1 chauzi.
  3. F3. In the third generation there should be no less than 12.5% of the blood of the reed cat. Direct descendant of Chausi F2.
  4. F4. In this generation of Chausi, the percentage of Felis Chaus blood is at least 6.25%. The direct descendant of the F3 causi.
  5. F5,6, ... Next generations of chazuzy contain less than 3.12% of wild blood.

Most similar to the reed cat Chausi 1 and 2 generations. Chauzi F1 is the most “wild” in nature, but still they are pets. The higher the generation index, the more dissimilar in nature to the wild cat becomes the chausi. Also size depends on generation. Some cats F1 reach 18 kg. The less chauzi in the blood of wild blood, the smaller the cat will be.

Cats and cats 3,4,5, etc. generations are already very little like chauzi, so they are not of such value as cats of the 1st and 2nd generations.

Health and Disease

Chauzi has a truly good health. Although the cat is thermophilic, is not afraid of light frost and does not fall ill from the slightest draft. Chauzi also has a rather sensitive digestion. The only disease that these cats are prone to is obesity.

Chauzi’s obesity is caused by his excessive appetite. Chawzi can eat literally without stopping. The owner needs to stop begging, otherwise the cat will quickly turn into not only a kind of a ball on its paws, but also into an eternally hungry meowing tail, which is not obedient to stealing food from the master's table.

  1. Cat weight by 20% or more than normal.
  2. Severe shortness of breath with little activity.
  3. Mobility problems.
  4. Inability to feel the ribs or spine through the fat layer.
Chawzi likes to beg, but he can be weaned from this habit, just ignoring such behavior.

What causes obesity:

  1. Genetic predisposition.
  2. Uncontrolled nutrition.
  3. Hormonal disbalance.
  4. Lack of sufficient physical activity.

Obesity is much easier to prevent than to cure. To do this, the cat needs to ensure maximum locomotor activity and proper, balanced feeding. But if the cat is still sick, the treatment involves dieting, providing motor activity and, if necessary, taking hormonal drugs.

Character, behavior behavior of chausi

Chauzi is a real perpetual motion machine. This cat, thanks to its kinship with the active Abyssinian breed and physical endurance inherited from Felis Chaus, can run and play all day long. On a cat's activity scale, a ten-point chauzi would score all eleven. The first generation of Chausi is especially active, usually they need to build a separate cage. The rest of the generations can adapt to life in a large apartment, subject to daily walks in nature. However, the curiosity of the chausi can become a small problem - if you are left at home alone, the cat will not leave any corner unexplored.

Oddly enough, chawsi inherited activity from the Abyssinian, and poise inherited from the reed cat

The main part of pets pets very friendly. Of course, this does not apply to hamsters, guinea pigs, fish and other small animals - they are perceived by chauzi as prey or toys. But dogs or cats for chauzi is a wonderful company. Sociability of cats and unusual habits allow you to make friends even with chain dogs. But people for chausi are of particular interest. They are devoted only to one owner, and communication with him is very important for the cat. Chawzi usually does not like to sit on his lap or caress a lot, but with his whole appearance shows how much he wants to communicate and play.

The children of Chausi are quite loyal, but still you should not leave them alone with the kids: the wild habits of the animal can manifest at any time.

Chawzi is so strongly attached to the owner that it is able to notice and remember the slightest manifestations of feelings in human facial expressions, movements, tone of voice. Some owners of Chausi say that the cat could guess the owner's thoughts even before they were said out loud. Also, Chausi truly cares about his person and protects him from danger.

Chausi love active games and walks in the fresh air

With the help of competent socialization chauzi turn into an unusually balanced and intelligent animal. These cats are not afraid of almost anything. In addition, chauzi carefully care for their hair. If from the first day you show the cat what is possible and what is not, it will never overstep the limits of what is permitted. Chausi also have a very high intelligence, they are easily taught to tricks and teams. In the process of learning and help the natural curiosity of the cat. But the first-generation chauzi have a small problem with rearing: these cats are very difficult to get used to the tray.

Breed Reviews

I never thought I'd get a pet. Especially, I didn’t think that it would cost like a mink coat ... Chauzi is a mixture of a wild marsh lynx with an Abyssinian domestic cat, from where wildness and color of abyssines are in this breed. The weight of such a cat can reach 15 kg. At first, my choice was on the Bengal cat, the animal a la tiger. But when I saw the chauzi live, it was indescribable. The most beautiful home predator! The cat is so beautiful! Very smart and never releases claws on the hostess. The furniture remained untouched, as did my hands. Very energetic, ready to play with your favorite toy even the whole day! A very unexpected feature of this breed: when it comes, it starts breathing like a dog, opening its mouth and sticking out its tongue. Moreover, this cat does not mew! Chawzi delivers so many positive emotions! Any mood is displayed on her face, she is very funny. From the beast she has ears with tassels, powerful fangs with which she gnaws pieces of beef and chicken legs. The wild color of my hunter gives additional bestial charm.

The cat was given to us in 3.5 years. When she went on a spree, she began to mark like a cat everywhere, so she was quickly sterilized. In the usual state always goes to the tray, it can be put in any place and there will be no problems. She is kind, affectionate, but does not like to sit in her arms. There are scratching posts, but apart from them, the wallpaper, the bed, or whatever comes under their paws (backpack, bag, ...). He likes to drink tap water, can sit in the sink and sit there, also with a bath. Loves to walk on a harness. But you won't get far with her. She likes to walk slowly or just stand. At home, a small child and when he cried, she would bite him and try to drag him away. After they explained to her that this should not be done, while crying, she began to bite the one next to the baby. She is a thief, can drag off a whole loaf and hide somewhere under the bed. Practically it doesn’t mew, and that’s good, because her voice is nasty)) She’s asleep during the day, and starts playing at night. Worn like a horse through the apartment, demolishing everything in its path. Toys are practically not interested in her, she needs a man. Attacking legs and arms. Grabbing claws and teeth. Bites very painfully. It happens even scary from her wildly wild games. And since she is not aggressive, if she doesn’t like something, she will simply leave. Wool from her a little. In character and appearance is very similar to the Abyssinian, only much larger. We love our animal very much))

Chausi has a special digestive system and shortened intestines, which can not digest most plant foods, including cereals and legumes that are included in many foods. Because of these features, inherited from the reed cat, chauzi can be fed only with natural food.

What products can give chauzi:

  • lean beef
  • low-fat cottage cheese,
  • quail meat
  • bird necks (crushed),
  • rabbit,
  • white sea fish
  • feed mice
  • day-old chicks
  • quail raw eggs.

Some products from the list are not quite ordinary, for example, mice and chickens. But it is they who make up for a chauzi a harmonious and familiar diet, they should be given at least twice a week. Order chickens can be at the poultry farm, the mice are sold in specialized pet stores as food for snakes. Cottage cheese is given to get calcium once or twice a week for 50–80 g.

Chausi from childhood should eat natural food

Chausi loves quail eggs, but do not abuse them - 4–5 eggs per week will be enough. Meat makes up 80–85% of the ration of chazuis, it is recommended to alternate its varieties: the first day - beef, the second - rabbit meat, the third - quail, etc. Fish give boiled or lightly welded, two or three times a week.

It will also be useful to give chausi vitamins for cats - this will compensate for the lack of useful substances.

Hygiene Wool Chawzi

Chic coat chauzi requires combing twice a week. To do this, you will need to purchase a rubber brush, a comb and a comb for the molting period.

  1. If the cat does not shed, combing done twice a week. First, comb the comb to thoroughly comb the hair, starting from the neck and ending with the abdomen and paws. Then remove the remaining dead hairs with a rubber brush.
  2. During shedding, wool is brushed first with a comb, then with a puhokerka, and after that with a rubber brush.

Chawzi are very fond of water, because their ancestor, the reed cat, not only hunted, but also fished in small rivers and lakes. Therefore, if you have a swimming pool or access to a clear water reservoir, allow your pet to swim as often as possible, which improves his health. After swimming in open water, the cat will need to be washed with clean running water without shampoo. If there is no access to the reservoir, it is possible to arrange a chuzi bath once every two weeks.

Chauzi washing with shampoo should be done no more than 2-3 times a year - the cat is very clean.

What shampoos will suit chawzi:

  1. Perfect Coat Shed Control & Hairball from 8 in 1.
  2. Shampoo "Gentle" company "Agrovetzashchita."

Care for claws, teeth, eyes, ears

Care for ears, teeth and eyes chauzi not too different from the care of other domestic cats:

  1. Ears are cleaned every five to six days with special drops for cleaning the ears. In the ear you need to drip a few drops and gently massage its base for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Eyes should be cleaned daily using a cloth dipped in warm water. It is necessary to wipe in the direction from an internal corner to an external.
  3. Teeth cleaned with a silicone toothbrush and toothpaste for cats. Most thoroughly clean the joints of the teeth and the area of the gums.
  4. Chausi claws will not fit a simple scraper: they will need a wooden log. Claws need to be cut as you grow - for this, get a claw cutter. The claw is clipped slightly at an angle, so that the front cut resembles the tip of the nail and does not affect the pink sensitive part of the claw. If the claw is bleeding after pruning, treat the wound with peroxide.
Causi's claws are powerful and long, therefore anti-scratches are ineffective for them

Cultivation and organization of the Chausi nursery

Breeding chauzi is allowed only to people with a diploma of a felinologist and versed in all the nuances of the breed. Therefore, before you take up this difficult task, you must visit the felinological courses and consult with professionals in this field. Also, it will not be out of place to work out breeding Abyssinian cats for some time, since chauzi breeding is allowed only to professional nurseries with responsible breeders.

Chawzi breeding has several disadvantages:

  1. First, cats of this breed are unusually expensive. In order to buy a pair for breeding, you will have to lay out at least half a million rubles, and in order to purchase a reed cat with which it is best to start breeding a chauzi, at least eight hundred thousand.
  2. Secondly, this is a very risky business, as the breeder faces many difficulties: infertility and mutations in kittens, ibreeding and many others.
  3. Thirdly, this business is designed for a very narrow category of people who can afford to spend 200,000 rubles for a cat.

But if you possess sufficient means, knowledge and experience and are not afraid of difficulties, then it is quite possible to try. But remember: cats need to be purchased only in a specialized cattery with all licenses.

A breeder will have to work hard to get a fully compliant cat.

For a novice breeder, a cat of the F1 generation is the best choice. Breeding chauzi is fraught with difficulties and nuances:

  1. Chausi cats until the third generation are born barren. Therefore, if you want to buy a pair of producers, then you need to take the F1 female and the Abyssinian cat.
  2. When you have already gained experience, you can buy a reed kitten, always a male, since the wild female domestic cat will not allow itself to come. It should be crossed with an Abyssinian cat. Reed cat may not agree on the proposed girlfriend, so that you may have to bust a few females.
  3. Female F2 is also knitted with an Abyssinian cat.
  4. Make sure cats are blood group compatible. Cats have only two groups: A and B. Cats A and cats B are compatible with any partner, cats B are knitted only with males B, males A are knitted only with females A.
The first-generation tea houses love to hunt

Pregnancy

It should take into account some features of pregnancy when breeding:

  1. Pregnancy of an Abyssinian cat from a reed cat will last about 67–70 days, it will bring two or three kittens. And some of them may not meet the standard and look more like an Abyssinian cat than a wild cat.
  2. The female chausi F1 and F2 will bring about 3-4 kittens, which may also not meet the standard.
  3. Males of Chausi to the third generation can not have offspring, so the boy can be sold under the label F1, if he is the son of a reed cat and Abyssinian, F2, if he is the son of F1 female and Abyssinian, F3, if he is the son of F2 and Abyssinian cat.
  4. It is allowed to select for further breeding only Chausi females that fully comply with the standard.

As you can see, the selection of chauzi is very difficult. Success can only be achieved by people who have the necessary knowledge and are ready to devote all their time and even life to Chausi.

Chausi needs a host who can spend a lot of time on them

Breeder note

Before you start breeding a chausi, you need to get permission to breed a chausi and register a nursery.

  1. Breed recognized only by the organization TICA. Therefore, the nursery must be registered in it.
  2. Each cat, both Abyssinian and Chausi, must have a divorce rating of no less than “excellent” in the open category or title certificate. You can get them at the exhibition.
  3. Every cat must have a proven pedigree.
  4. For each kitten, a metric and a tribal sheet is written out, which is assigned a four-digit number. If you have a diploma of felinology, you can do it yourself.
  5. Chauzi put the same vaccinations as ordinary cats. Wet passport kittens receive from 3 months.

Choosing a kitten chauzi

If you do not want to breed a chausi, but only want a faithful and active pet, then chausi is an excellent choice. But this choice still needs to be done correctly.

Each standard-compliant breed of Chawzi breed is divided into three classes: pet, breed and show.

  1. Pets are the cheapest, they are not allowed to breed and have small deviations from the standard.
  2. Breed class meets the standard, is used in breeding, but not suitable for exhibitions.
  3. Show kittens are the brightest representatives of the breed. They are used for show career.

The cost of Chausi starts from 150,000 rubles and reaches several million.

Chawzi is a truly exclusive pet, because its price can reach up to five million rubles.

How to choose a purebred kitten:

  1. You need to choose in a specialized nursery, which has all the relevant documents.
  2. Look at the parents of the kitten. If they meet all accepted standards, then the offspring will be the same.
  3. Chausi must be correct, corresponding to the standard color. Take chauzi better from 4-5 months.
  4. The texture of wool should also be correct, standard.
  5. Chawzi is a very expensive breed, so when you buy you can take with you an expert felinologist who will help you make the right choice.

Pay attention to the health of the kitten:

  1. His eyes should not tear and fester.
  2. The nose should be slightly moist, without crusts.
  3. Wool should be shiny and well-groomed.
  4. The area under the tail must be clean.
  5. The abdomen is soft and not swollen.
  6. There should be no wounds on the skin except points on the neck from the teeth of the mother cat.
  7. The cub itself is active, not shy, curious.

The best nurseries of Chausi in Russia:

Chawzi is a true friend, playful and active, understanding and sensitive. Someone will say: why give such money for an ordinary cat. And that's not normal! Chauzi - this is the case when the purchase justifies its price.
