The breeds of horses in our country are bred a lot. In specialized farms both ordinary farm animals and sports ones are raised. The last group includes one of the best breeds today - budennovskaya. These horses have earned excellent reviews from horse owners and athletes primarily for their endurance, agility and at the same time unpretentious care.

Breed history

The Budennovskaya horse was bred in the 20-30s of the last century in the USSR. Don and Black Sea breeds became her parents. To improve the racing qualities of these horses, purebred English stallions were used. Selection was carried out mainly in two stud farms: it. Budyonny and them. 1st Horse. The main purpose of the work was the creation of a new breed for the commanders of the Red Army. The Budennovsk horse was officially registered on November 15, 1948. The basis was the relevant decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

The Budennovskaya breed of horses was derived, the description of which will be given later in the article, first under the guidance of the former Tsar horse breeders, and then the officers of the Red Army. Selection work at that time was an extremely difficult task. After the imperialist and civil wars, there were practically no horses left in the farms in the Don and the North Caucasus. To determine the pedigree of animals in the few semi-wild herds accounted for by the surviving owner's brands, by the remnants of the documents, and sometimes simply by the memories of former horse breeders. A special contribution to the development of the new Soviet race breed was made by Budyonny. Hence, in fact, its name originated.

Ancestors

A new Budennovskaya breed of horses was bred, the opinion of which the athletes formed was simply excellent, mainly along the lines (by stallions). However, at the same time, uterine herds of animals with better qualities were created. Purebred stallions in breeding work used about 100. However, the ancestors of the new breed were only four producers. These were purebred horses Kokas, Svetets, Inferno and Handsome.

The Budennovskaya breed of horses is interesting, including the fact that in the process of its breeding the related mating was not used at all. At the same time, animals were kept mainly on cultural-herd technology. That is, large groups were formed according to various characteristics: gender, age, and intrabreed types. Ancestors of the best lines of the breed are Budennovsk stallions Beja, Bracelet, Chimkent and Codex.

The main characteristics of the breed

Why did the Budennovsk horses deserve such rave reviews from athletes around the world? The main distinctive feature of this breed is its large size (up to 164 cm at the withers) and some massiveness. This is determined primarily by its versatility. The Budennovskaya horse breed performed well in many different types of horse racing. These animals can be known primarily by the following features:

rather large body (167 cm)

well developed chest (girth - 191 cm),

light small head with straight profile,

long, high set, sometimes bent neck.

A Budennov horse usually has a reddish color - from light, almost sandy, to terracotta. One of the distinguishing features of this breed is the presence of a golden hue. Last Budennovsk horses inherited from the Don mares.

Breed Reviews

According to the majority of connoisseurs of good horses, the Budennovskaya breed is one of the best racers today. Most athletes consider its representatives somewhat difficult and demanding in their work, but at the same time, by their nature, they are rather balanced and tolerant towards the owner. Many advise to choose these horses especially for jumping. Budennovskiy horses differ not only playfulness, but also jumping ability. They always participate in competitions with enthusiasm and can bear enormous loads without harm to themselves.

In addition to excellent race qualities, the Budennovskaya horse breed has also earned good reviews for its long life expectancy, and with full preservation of efficiency and health. Also, a plus of this breed, athletes consider absolute undemanding to feed.

Many people wish the breeders to pay more attention to this particular breed. After all, it is actually one of the best today. The craze for all foreigners has put the gene pool of this domestic breed at risk.

Three main types

The Budennovskaya horse breed, whose characteristic was examined by us above, is divided into three large groups according to the signs of the exterior:

The first group includes the most massive and muscular, even slightly rough horses. In terms of agility, they are slightly inferior to other types. For animals of the eastern group, some roundness of the forms and smoothness of the lines are characteristic. These qualities such horses inherited mainly from their Don mothers. The horses of the characteristic group are distinguished by developed muscles and an elongated body. Sometimes there are representatives of this breed of mixed types in farms.

Budennovsky horses can vary somewhat depending on where they were once bred. For animals stud them. Budenny is characterized by wide-body, muscular and golden-red color. Bred in the stables of the factory of the First Cavalry Army horses have a large head and are distinguished by some angularity. Their suit is often a bay. The horses displayed at the Yurlovsky Plant are distinguished by their elegance and the most accurate correspondence to the breed standards.

Content Features

Nowadays Budennovskaya horse breed is bred usually by herd or large group technology. Uterus are kept together with the young. Grazing herds produced in confined spaces. All wayward queen bees are removed from groups, which contributes to the improvement of the breed in terms of compliance, contact and patience.

The removal of foals from mares is made in September. And all youngsters born from February to May are withdrawn from the herd. Further, foals are distributed in separate herds by gender. Cult groups are formed from the best representatives of the breed. Subsequently, these stallions and fillies are sent to the race training department or used in breeding. Contain foals of Budennovsk breed two in stalls. Each is given a separate nickname.

At the age of two, the best foals of the Budennovsk breed are tested at the hippodrome of the city of Rostov. Approximately 15-25% of horses are allowed to be tested. Running at the limit of more than 1 km allows you to select the best representatives of the breed. To date, all stallions manufacturers of Russian stud farms have successfully passed this test. Do not let us down and selected mares broodstock. More than half of them successfully overcome the tests with smooth jumps.

Success in competitions

The popularity and popularity of the Budennovsk breed is explained, among other things, by the high results achieved by these horses on the racetrack during various competitions. In smooth racing, they are inferior only to representatives of purebred riding breed. These horses also performed well in remote runs. They also achieved quite good results in stepl-chezakh. So, for example, the Budyonnovsky stallions Brev Boy and Wax in the daily run covered as much as 300 km. And Surf and Scrabble in the Great Pardubice Step-Chese became winners in rivalry with thoroughbred riding horses.

Modern Budennovskaya horse breed: character

A distinctive feature of these stallions and mares are tolerance and malleability. Without exception, all athletes consider them to be very clever too. But sometimes budennovskie horses can show some waywardness. The thing is that at the present moment at the stud farms the line, leading to the beginning from the stallion Rubinchik, is mostly bred. And this horse was distinguished not only by its impeccable exterior and excellent race qualities, but also by its somewhat ambiguous character. Even the offspring of him to achieve cost the breeders considerable work. But on the other hand, in the 50s of the last century, it was with the help of Rubinchik that they succeeded in significantly improving the descendants of Bracelet, Code, Beja and Chimkent.

Breed flaws

There are many advantages to this breed. However, she has one small drawback. Budennovsky horses are monogamous. This means that they are very attached to their master and do not recognize anyone else. For a modern racehorse, this is considered a disadvantage, primarily because a large number of personnel usually work with it.

The lack of breeding work is another reason why the Budennovskaya breed has recently been somewhat inferior in popularity, for example, to the same German racers. A small minus of these horses is their impressionability.

To date, not only domestic, but also foreign breeders are showing interest in budennovsky fillies and stallions. Many connoisseurs of good horses abroad believe that using this wonderful Russian horse can significantly improve the characteristics of many other breeds. So, the Budennovskaya horse breed (the photos on the page vividly demonstrate their impressive exterior) is by now considered very promising.

Brief history budennovskoy breed

After the Civil War, the army was in dire need of reliable horses that would serve the needs of cavalry. Semyon Budyonny gave impetus to the start of breeding work on the breeding of a new breed. At the stud farms of Kuban, where the best Don mares were kept, several dozen purebred English stallions were brought.

Reference. In the 19th century, attempts were made to cross these breed lines, but the work was not systematized, and therefore did not lead to decent results.

Breeders under the direction of appointed Budyonny generals worked on the creation of a new breed for 25 years. During this time, 70 purebred English stallions and about 650 Don mares were used. From the crossbred offspring 3 horses had the best signs, from which the Budennovsk horse breed was subsequently formed. The names of these stallions:

Breeding horses in stud farms of the Kuban produced cultural-herd way. This method allowed more efficient use of stallion-sires. The Budennovsk breed was registered in 1948.

In 1953 a thoroughbred English stallion was born at the stud farm "Sunrise". Later he became the founder of the dominant line in the Budyonnovsk horse breed.. He had a high working capacity, but had several flaws in the exterior. In addition, the stallion made high demands on the conditions of detention and had a difficult character.

Thanks to the foresight of the breeder Lebedev, Rubilnik was still allowed to breed, which gave excellent results. Today his line dominates the Budyonnovsk breed. It was from this stallion that the descendants were obtained, who later became Olympic medalists.

The development of mechanization has affected the fate of the breed. In the world increased interest in equestrian sport. Budennovsk horses possessed an ideal set of qualities for competitions. Today they show excellent results in horse racing, triathlon, dressage and jumping.

Description and characteristics

Budennovskiy horses ideally combine the best characteristics of the Don and English riding horses. Animals are harmoniously folded and have a strong and beautiful exterior, and their movements are light and graceful.

Representatives of the Budennovsk breed are characterized by the following signs:

  • height - 1.65 m,
  • medium sized head with a straight profile and a rather broad forehead,
  • the neck of the horses is long and has a beautiful bend,
  • back straight, strong, wide,
  • medium body
  • thick sacrum with well developed muscles
  • the back is massive, slightly down,
  • ribs rounded, chest broad and deep, girth - 1.89–1.91 m,
  • strong wiry legs are of medium length
  • the joints are wide, elastic, and the hooves are very strong,
  • the suit is a bay; most of the representatives of the breed have white spots on the forehead and nose, and also below the hock joints.

Character and dignity

Budennovsky horses can hardly be called appeasable and peace-loving, they are characterized by temper and short temper. These qualities were formed purposefully when the breed was created. Cavalry needed brave, stubborn, strong horses with a "rod." Today, these traits help racers to reach heights in sports.

Budennovsky horses are smart. They are easy to learn and apply their knowledge. Another feature of character - attachment to the owner. Racers are able to remain faithful and show obedience only to a person who is respected and loved.

Breeders point out another quality inherent in representatives of the Budennovskaya breed - endurance, which they inherited from the donchak. Cavalry racers had to cover huge distances every day, content with scarce food. Sometimes they did not even have time to rest, but instead of sleeping they entered into combat with enemy forces. All this hardened racers. Today, their endurance helps to win high awards in sports.

The main advantages of Budennovskaya horse breed:

  • strong immunity
  • resistance to temperature changes
  • undemanding to feed base,
  • unpretentiousness to the conditions of detention
  • endurance.

The disadvantages of the breed include the difficult nature and attachment to one person. For a sports horse, this is a minus, since a large number of people have to work with it.

Intra-pedigree types

During breeding work, several types of Budennovskaya horses were formed. They differ from each other in exterior:

  1. Character type horses have strong bones, developed muscles and are distinguished by high performance.
  2. Representatives of the eastern type - owners of elegant exterior with rounded shapes, which they inherited from the maternal line, from mares of the Don breed.
  3. Horses of massive type are larger and have more rough forms. By agility, they are inferior to their brethren.

Attention! Representatives of the same breed, bred at different horse plants, differ from each other in body type and some characteristics, for example, the color of wool, the shape of the head.

Where is the breed used today?

Budennovsky horses are in demand among athletes, as over the years they have managed to establish themselves, thanks to perseverance and endurance. They participate in races, competitions in triathlon, dressage. This is one of the best equestrian horses - jumping is easy for them.

Constant training helps to improve the breed, contrary to the opinion that such a lifestyle adversely affects descendants. Requirements for sports horses are tightened every year, so work on improving the breed continues.

Famous representatives of the breed line

Budennovskaya breed boasts champions. One of the most prominent horses is Rex, the son of the Knitter stallion and the mare named Epic of English-Danish origin. In 1980 he became the gold medalist of the Olympic Games. Many descendants of the Knife switch have distinguished themselves by high achievements in equestrian sport:

Another famous stallion of Budyonnovsk breed - Skid. In 1950 he became the winner of the daily race. Having spent only 19 hours, he managed to overcome a distance of 109 km.

Budennovskaya horse breed has absorbed all the best from its progenitors. She is highly appreciated by athletes. In addition to sports, these horses are used for hunting, and the most balanced and calm individuals are suitable for equestrian tourism and hippotherapy.

Budennovskaya horse breed - external signs

As a basis for breeding, Don and Black Sea mares were used, which were crossed with thoroughbred riding stallions. It should be noted that for a long time, experts did not consider Budenovites a separate breed, and its external features were appreciated only in 1948, recognizing it as a separate species (Figure 1).

Budenovsky horses have some outward signs that distinguish it from other species:

  1. The color should be red, but its shades can range from light sand to dark terracotta. Since Don mares were most often used for hatching, golden-red is considered the most common color, although there are also bay and brown horses.
  2. Height at withers is 160-178 cm, since the breed was originally bred for the needs of the cavalry and was mounted.
  3. The head is dry with a long curved nape. The thorax is deep and wide, the croup is powerful and long, the back is straight.

Most often used in sledding and for riding, although they differ in some roughness of the exterior. For the maintenance of this type of horses used cultural and herd method.
  2. Oriental: representatives of this type have a dry, but strong constitution. A distinctive feature is in the admixture of eastern breeds, therefore the exterior of such horses is characterized by elegance and roundness of shape with a dry build. Horses are distinguished by high endurance and mild, docile nature, but are quite demanding in conditions of keeping and feeding.
  3. Characteristic: different massive but dry physique. At the same time, the horses have a rather well developed musculature, which allows representatives of this type to develop a very high speed.

The most expensive horses are of a characteristic type, as they most clearly show signs of purebred breeds, which were originally used in breeding work.

Figure 1. Features of the exterior of animals

Separately, mention should be made of the character of the Budenov horses. Since they were created for the military need, in the nature of the inherent enthusiasm, ardor and extreme courage. At the same time, animals are excellent in training, as they quickly get used to the person and are distinguished by good temper and patience. In addition, despite the characteristic dryness of the constitution, animals are extremely enduring.

Budenovets: the history of Budennovsk horse breed

The first attempts to breed Budennovsk horses were made even after the Civil War. After the hostilities, most of the Don stud farms were destroyed, so the selection work had to start almost from scratch.

Note: The first attempts to cross the Don mares with purebred English stallions were carried out in the late 19th century, but such experiments were isolated and did not lead to the creation of a new breed.

Only in the 20s of the last century began a serious breeding work aimed at creating a completely new breed. It was at this time that Semyon Budyonny entrusted his generals to lead several stud farms in Kuban. For horses were created the most comfortable conditions. Later, as a result of crossing beautiful and fast English thoroughbred stallions with calm and hardy Don mares, the Budennovsk horse breed appeared (Figure 2).

It is worth noting that she did not immediately receive official recognition. Experts of that time considered that animals do not have any distinctive features of the exterior, which would allow them to be distinguished into a separate breed. However, already in 1948, a government decision was made, according to which the Budennovsk breed was recognized.

However, the development of the Budennovsk horses did not stop there. A significant role in the breeding work played stallion Rubilnik. He was distinguished by a very wayward character, but at the same time he possessed amazing physical data. In spite of the fact that it was extremely difficult to get offspring from him, the work of the breeders as a result was completely paid off. Already in the 50s, she was significantly improved thanks to this stallion.

Figure 2. The history of development

Already in the 60s, the need for the use of horses for military and agricultural needs was significantly reduced, but this did not affect the popularity of Budenovites. Due to the soft character, intelligence, good physical condition and unpretentiousness in maintenance, Budennovsk horses began to be used in horse racing and sports competitions.

The use of Budyonnovskiy horses in sport has been preserved in the modern world: they take part in various competitions, ranging from horse racing and dressage to triathlon. The traditional habitat of these amazing horses has also been preserved: most of the livestock intended for breeding and breeding are located at three large stud farms in the Rostov region.

It is worth noting that the first breeders who brought Budenovka, achieved so surprising results that the breed has remained almost unchanged since the middle of the last century. Budennovskiy horses are distinguished by high growth and excellent physical data, but at the same time they have a peace-loving character, docility, intelligence and nobility.

Breeding budennovsky horses

Mares and stallions intended for breeding are kept by herds or large groups on open pastures. At the moment, the most numerous livestock in the Stavropol region and Krasnodar Territory.

Note: The maintenance of horses by the herd culture method was recommended by Budyonny himself. With such rearing, it is much easier to determine the nature of the animals and select suitable individuals for breeding.

Foals begin to take away from their mothers in September, but if weather conditions allow, this process can be carried out in November (Figure 3). This process does not depend on the age of the young: the weaning is carried out for all foals in general, and for those that were born in the spring, and for the autumn offspring. In the future, groups of young stock are formed, dividing them by gender, and the most promising horses are collected in a separate herd. They will be used for selection work in the future.

For breeding individuals are selected very carefully. In each group, choose a mare with the lowest propensity for aggression and docile nature. A similar selection is carried out among stallions. However, in addition to the docile nature of the selection of male individuals pay attention to the exterior features and physical form. The individuals selected for breeding are kept in separate stalls, and all the other foals begin to be gradually trained, accustomed to a nickname, communication with people and walking around. At the age of two years, all animals are tested on a special racetrack.

Figure 3. Cultivation of foal-budenovtsev

Rejection plays an important role in breeding. Since the steppe horses are considered difficult in terms of character, and the Budennovsk horses were originally bred for the needs of the army, they had to be quite bold and emotional. Some of the modern Budennovsk horses retained these qualities, but since horses are no longer used in hostilities, such qualities of character are no longer considered desirable. That is why of the herds reject too aggressive mares and stallions, as they are difficult to train and are practically not suitable for breeding.

Maintenance and care

A distinctive feature of Budennovsk horses is not only in appeasable character and endurance, but also in extreme unpretentiousness to the conditions of detention. This allows breeding such horses not only in large horse-breeding factories, but also on private small farms.

Figure 4. Herd method of keeping horses

However, despite the simplicity, some features of the content should still be considered. The main feature of Budenov residents is that they can only fully develop and multiply in the herd. It follows from this that it is impossible to keep such animals in the confined space of a stable. The horses must always be free and move around the open space of the steppe (Figure 4).

In addition to traditional cleaning and washing, budennovskie horses require special attention to the hooves. They should be regularly inspected and shod, as any crack or other mechanical damage to the hoof can lead to serious illnesses.

In general, the Budennovskaya horse breed is considered quite promising in terms of breeding for profit. Animals do not require special conditions of detention, as most of the time is spent in the open steppe. Feeding representatives of the breed is traditional for horses, and grown-up individuals can be sold as breeding young animals or used to participate in horse racing or sports competitions.

More information about the amazing Budennovsk horse breed can be found in the video.

A bit of history

To achieve the desired result by crossing several horse breeds, scientists did not succeed immediately. Before you achieve positive results was a tremendous job.

Starting from the 50s and ending in the 70s, active attempts were made at the Budyonny plant to breed this breed. Only one person managed to carry out everything correctly and accurately. He became an employee of the plant Lebedev G.A. By hard calculations. He still managed to combine the genes of the Don and the purebred breed of sturdy horses.

As soon as the experiments were crowned with positive success, it was decided to use these horses in military operations and battles. They were very strong, strong and fast. And, according to Muravyev V.I. as no one was better suited for the role of defenders and assistants for our soldiers.

Budennovskiy horses are still considered to be one of the strongest and fastest horses on the planet. They fascinate the eyes of many and make them marvel at their strength and endurance.

Important characteristics of this breed

Budennovsky horses very beautiful and stately animals. They have such a body structure, which allows the rider to comfortably and securely hang on it. While the withers of such horses are very developed, the shoulder blade has an elongated and slightly oblique shape. Add to this the very broad chest of the animal. It looks very harmonious against all its parameters.

The head of these horses of standard shape, it is proportional to the direct profile of the animal. The eyes are very large and clear, and the frontal part is large. The long slender neck of such horses smoothly passes into withers. A smooth back allows the rider to sit comfortably and feel safe. The body of the animal is long and very massive.

Dimensions budennovskoy horse

Such animals are very tall and stately. The height of a standard stallion can reach 165 centimetersand mares up to 162 centimeters.

In length, these horses are also not inferior. The average figure can range from 165 centimeters for stallions and from 160 to 163 centimeters for mares.

The color of this breed is most often found in a reddish tint. Horses that have a golden color since birth look very elegant. Such an unusual color they passed from their ancestors Don horses.

Horse types

Today we managed to establish the existence of several subtypes of Budennovsk horses. Among them should be highlighted: massive type, oriental and characteristic.

Each of this type is characterized by its own characteristics, which are transmitted from their predecessors. So, for characteristic horses tend to have a large body and strong hooves. Such a line has passed from a purebred horse breed. The eastern breed, in turn, is more rounded and shallow. It has a red color with a golden tint. For massive racers, however, a long body and a large number of muscles are characteristic. The rest they can concede only in their speed and agility.

Care and nutrition

For those who grow budennovsky horses it is very important to carefully care for animals. A true professional should know what is good for a horse and what is not. It is very important when breeding such a breed to observe one simple rule: such racers must exist and breed only in the herd! Budennovsk horses love freedom and space, so they should have enough space for their movement. To ensure that the wool always remains shiny and smooth, it is important to choose the right nutrition. In turn, it should contain foods that are balanced with all the vitamins and trace elements necessary for healthy growth of the animal.

Budennovsk horses often take part in horse racing, dressage, jumping. In the Rostov region today there are 3 plants that are engaged in the cultivation of this breed of animals. Such horses are known and in demand not only in our area, but also in foreign countries.

Breeding history

The civil war brought ruin to the Kuban stud farms, as a result of which everything had to start from scratch. We needed a breed that met the requirements of the cavalry troops of the army of the new country. Moreover, horse riding, as a branch, was in dire need of improvement. At the end of the 20th century, the Don mare was already bred with a purebred English stallion, but these were isolated experiments that did not have a certain systematics.

In the 1920s, Semyon Budyonny entrusted the generals, in recent times - the commanders of his I Konnoy, the leadership of several stud farms in the Kuban. A great lover of horses, he raised vigorous activity and provided all the conditions for fruitful work to breed a unique breed. And she could not be bred, with such and such parents, - purebred English stallions of perfect form and unsurpassed race abilities got the choice "brides" from Don. Of the seventy "Englishmen" who participated in the crossing, only three of the founders of Budennovskaya went to the laurels: Simpatiag, Inferno and Kokas.

Period 40 - 70's

The Budennovskaya horse breed was recognized in 1948, on November 15 from the official decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 4210.

The development of the current appearance of “Budennovtsa” was influenced by a certain phenomenon in the “face” of the wayward and ambiguous, but with the excellent physical characteristics of the Rubilnik stallion. It cost a lot of work and patience to get offspring from him, but this work has more than paid off. With its help, in the 50s, it was possible to significantly improve the quality of the breed, which fruitfully influenced its development in the future.

Industrialization, the development of technologies of the 60s, albeit belatedly, did not bypass the national economy of the USSR. The demand for horses in the military and economic spheres has seriously decreased. But, “when one door closes, another opens”: the cavalry talents of the Budennovsk horse were harmoniously displayed in sports.

In addition, the Budennovsk horse breed was very attractive for horse breeders for its unpretentiousness and inexpensive maintenance. So, with a beautiful gait, the battle horse from the battlefield of the past rode up on modern hippodromes and competition grounds.

Modernity

At the present time, the best breeding livestock is located in the stud farms named after Budenny, named after the First Cavalry Army and in Yulovsky, which are located in the Rostov region. More than three hundred pedigree mares of a special Budennovskaya breed are located in farms with different forms of ownership in Kalmykia and the Rostov Region. A modern Budennovskaya horse breed is characterized by especially large growth, as well as breed, faithful exterior and structure, and its elegance is markedly balanced temperament.

Now the main hypostasis "Budennovtsa" - sport. The versatility of this breed allows it to compete on an equal footing with highly specialized breeds in various types of competitions - from show jumping and dressage, to horse racing and triathlon. Once bred, the breed remains in the same quality to this day - the same height, power, elasticity of forms, and tirelessness worthy of war horses, in harmony with the softness and elegance of the course and habits.

Looking and appreciating sports opportunities, high physical indicators of the breed, foreign breeders are beginning to compete with Russian ones. They do not exclude the use of budennovskaya to improve their breeding.

Characteristic

The most common color in the Budennovsk horse is considered to be the red color and bay. The one that is red can be completely different shades. These horses have an enviable health, an incredibly strong constitution. In addition, they are not so demanding on feeding and in general their conditions of detention. What can be said about the same horses of Western European breeds. Traditionally, they have good physical training, as animals of the Budennovsk breed always pass tests in difficult smooth races, which have the honor to pass at the Rostov hippodrome.

All this is between the ages of two and four. True, such difficulties arise, far from all the horses. This is not a test for the prize breeds of animals. There is a specially selected part. It turns out that horses take on difficulties with jumps from fifteen to twenty-five percent. This type of test leads to the cultivation of this breed, certain qualities of the interior plan. Those that are able to provide an amazing ability of the body to withstand enormous physiological loads.

Now among all the manufacturers in the equestrian-type factories, there is an overwhelming majority of horses that have already managed to take an active part in the race tests, having perfectly shown their own working capacity, thereby. More than fifty percent of the fillies managed to pass the hippodrome tests in the uterine composition of all stud farms.

Good physique

Growing up

Uterus and young animals are kept in groups (herds). This is the specificity of breeding Budennovsky horses - herding method. In this way, animals are distributed according to their psychotype, refuting, in addition, the prevailing opinion about the willfulness and stubbornness of horses raised in relative freedom.

The large-group method forms in horses an appeasable nature, sociability and patience, but at the same time - a good response, sharpness.

At the end of September and up to November (the duration depends on weather and several other factors) foals are taken away from mothers. And regardless of the date of birth - all together, and the winter and spring offspring. But before - mandatory brand. In a relatively humane, cold way, the foal withers on the left. The brand contains information about the individual number and year of birth, with the emblem of the plant. Horses with an emblem on the left thigh are pupils of the Budyonnovsky stud farm.

Young animals are collected in groups with a division by gender. From the perspective, the so-called cult group is created. This definition has come into use and has been fixed since the time when young stallions with a claim to the producer were taken out of the livestock that was kept in large groups and formed such “cult groups”. Now horses are selected in them promising, from the point of view of plant specialists, in terms of sports or breeding. In the stalls, the foals from the cultural group are held in pairs, gradually grabbing them, accustomed to the rope, the people around them and their own nicknames.

Adult life in thoroughbred Budennovsk horses begins at the age of two with trials at the hippodrome of the city of Rostov. Running at the limit of more than 1 kilometer is called “smooth jumps”. Only 15–25% of the elite are allowed to be tested, unlike prize rocks. This extreme kind of physical activity allows you to select specimens that can withstand them and bring their potential to the development of the breed.

Today, almost all stud studs have successfully passed these tests, showing excellent results. The choice mares of the masterbatch did not let us down - more than half overcame the tests with smooth jumps.

Every year, a new copy of the Gosplemknig volume is issued, where all purebred horses are written. In confirmation of the fact that this is the Budennovskaya horse breed, the All-Russian Research Institute of Horse Breeding is issued a passport. Each year, stud stallions are assessed by breeders from the Institute, with subsequent publication. NIIK employees use this information to analyze, control and improve the quality of the offspring of the Budennovskaya breed.
