The variety of feline breeds that exist in the world today is simply impressive. At exhibitions you can see dozens of varieties of four-legged home friends. And they all differ in both character and history of occurrence. In this article we will tell you what the Kurilian bobtail cat is - the photo, history of the breed, its character, as well as the characteristics of care are described below.

Breed overview

To date, the history of the breed of these cats remains unclear. From about the middle of the nineteenth century, domestic military and travelers began bringing these short-tailed animals from Sakhalin and Kuriles to Russia. But where could they appear on the Kuril Islands? We will try to answer this question.

Breed history

As mentioned above, there is no accurate data on the appearance of the breed. Despite the fact that these cats have a characteristic name, their appearance in the Kuril Islands remains a mystery. Not a single Russian researcher who visited Kamchatka and the Kuriles at one time and studied the nature of this wild region did not leave any mention of this breed of cats in his notes. And not specifically about the bobtail, but about cats in principle.

Perhaps the first cats came to the region along with Russian forwarders. And already being there, having passed through many crossings, this species of short-tailed animals appeared. However, even the indigenous people of the Kuriles say that, until the 1980s, they had no idea that such a species existed.

One way or another, the popularity that Kurilian bobtail kittens acquired began to grow at that time. At that time, many domestic livestock breeders showed a desire to create their own population of tailless short-haired animals. Moreover, in 1991 a standard was even created in the Phenological Federation, which, one might say, was a big step towards the recognition of this variety. In the same year, a presentation of Kuril Bobtails took place in St. Petersburg.

A year later, domestic researchers T. Bocharov and L. Ivanova went to the Kuril Islands to trace the nature of the inheritance of the spiral tail. The first flew to Iturup, the second - to Kunashir. Thus, two breeding lines of animals were identified - short-haired and semi-long-haired. In 1994, the All-Russian Exhibition on Aboriginal Cats was held in Moscow. Then the standard was adopted, which was officially registered by the World Certification Federation (CAT World Federation) a year later.

As you can see, the history of the appearance of the species of these cats is very unclear. But now it is not so important. Indeed, the main thing is that this amazing breed has appeared in nature, and the main task of man now is to preserve it.

Appearance

Before we show the photo and tell you what to feed, let's talk about the appearance of pets and their weight. This type of domestic animal is heavy. Kurilian bobtail cats are rather large in nature. The weight of an adult cat can vary from 3 to 7 kilograms. As for the male, for him 7 kg of weight is far from the limit.

Cats, as you know, are more massive than females, respectively, their weight may be more at times. In nature, there are cases when the weight of an adult Kuril bobtail was 12 kg. But this is not the limit for weight.

As for the health of cats, they have a strong immunity to various kinds of diseases. Cats can boast of excellent health, rarely pick up infections that animals suffer. In all likelihood, this is due to quenching, which the cats adopted from their ancestors. Pets of this species have a stocky and strong body, uncharacteristic for ordinary cats. The back is slightly arcuate.

In addition, "smokers" are different from ordinary cats graceful gait. This walk can even be called dancing. As for the other external signs, the following are characteristic of bobtails:

  • in the first place - this is a short, but very muscular neck,
  • amazingly strong chest, in most cases quite wide,
  • the cats face has a trapezoidal or round shape, the cheekbones are wide, the contours are smooth, the chin is highly developed,
  • the eyes of the cats are slightly slanting, oval-shaped (as for the color of the eyes, it is noteworthy that it can be absolutely anything - either saturated brown or light blue or greenish, but usually it is in line with the color of the animal),
  • cats nose is straight and wide enough
  • their ears are straight, of small size, leaning forward, their ends are slightly rounded,
  • the paws of cats are stocky and muscular, like the whole body, but small, and even compact, rounded in shape,
  • The distinctive feature is a shortened, spiral tail, it can consist of two to four knots, the length is about 3-7 cm, but there are exceptions,
  • as mentioned above, cats can be distinguished by their coat: it can be short or half long, but in the lower part of the body the coat is an order of magnitude longer,
  • thick undercoat
  • The cats' hind legs are much longer than the front ones (this feature allows pets to jump high and funny).

As for the color, there is no definite color for such animals. Depending on their ancestors, the cat can be painted black, white, ginger, smoky, and even brindle color. In addition, these seals can be spotty. Due to this abundance of colors Kurilian bobtails are very popular among pet lovers.

As mentioned above, for cats of this breed is jumping ability. However, such habits rarely cause inconvenience to the owners, as they are compensated by education. The Kuril Bobtail kitten is more active, so the house should provide a place where the animal could jump. In addition, they are not only brought up by nature, but also endowed with intelligence. This can be understood by observing the animals.

It is scientifically proven that these animals can distinguish and understand more than a thousand words and phrases. They have a well-developed logic. If the pet wants to get something, but the first attempt to do so fails, the cat may make a second or even third attempt. At the same time making certain changes in their actions.

"Kuriles" are quite friendly. If they nudge and punish them, they will never be angry with you. On the contrary, the kitten will go after the owner and look at him with a guilty look, and in such a way that your conscience can torture you. Cats of Kurilian bobtail are attentive and easy to learn, so it is easy to train this animal to the tray.

Also worth noting is the similarity of bobtails with dogs. They are devoted to their owners and fearless by nature. Even if the kitten feels the enemy - for example, a rodent - then he, without hesitation, will fight with him. Especially if the danger threatens the owner. But if a home rat or bird lives at home, then you can be sure that the kitten will not pose a danger to other pets. In addition, these pets are playful, if they want to play, they will run after the owner with a ball or a toy.

Features of care and nutrition

How to keep a kitten and how to feed him? By themselves, "smokers" cleanly. They do not need to bathe, the exception is strong pollution. Cutting claws and combing in the case of Kuril bobtails is also a superfluous matter.

It is only necessary to clean the ears and eyes of a kitten from time to time, if necessary. Dirty ears can cause infection, leading to weight loss. The tray at the cat must always be clean, otherwise the incident can not be avoided.

Do not try to cross Kurilian bobtail with cats of a different breed, as in most cases this causes the appearance of various diseases in the kitten born.

What to feed, so that the cat gained weight? Pets in this issue unpretentious. They can be fed with specialized feed, but the food should always be of high quality. Experts advise owners to add meat and fish to their diet. Milk products and food containing starch (for example, potatoes) in no case be fed.

In addition, intestinal upset may occur if the kitten is fed with purchased food and natural food at the same time. Kitten need to be vaccinated with standard vaccinations.

Where did these cats come from?

The Kurilian bobtail cat breed is not as old as some others, but it is well documented. In the 70s of the 20th century, Aboriginal cats of the Kuril Islands with a stable mutation - short tails - finally attracted the attention of feline fans, after which they were brought to the mainland part of the country. The felinological federation of the USSR standardized the breed, known as the “Kurilian Bobtail”, in 1991. The first cat of the new breed was Chip-O.

It is believed that Kurbobi turned out because of the free crossing of Japanese Bobtails and Siberians.

International recognition by the WCF organization came in 1994. Final thoroughbred norms were formed in 2001, they are currently in effect.

Newbie cats still at exhibitions need to confirm their origin from the Kuriles. The Kurilian bobtail cat does not intersect with other feline species to maintain thoroughbred norms.

Characteristic features

The WCF and FIFe organizations established 2 subspecies of Kurilian bobtails:

The description of the Kurilian bobtail breed traditionally begins with the body, which in the representatives of this breed is strong, compact, the front legs are noticeably shorter than the hind legs, which makes the cats walk similar to the lynx.

The large head has a smooth shape, a short cheek-faced muzzle, a chin well developed.

Small ears with rounded tips tilted forward.

Wide round eyes are bright, their color coincides with the color of the coat.

Kuril bobtails have many recognized colors, but the combination of lilac, chocolate, fawn, cinnamon, acromelanic flowers at exhibitions is disqualified. The coat does not clump together and does not get dirty.

Kurilian bobtail cat weighs up to 5 kg, cats are larger - up to 7 kg.

Special attention in determining the quality of the breed at Kurbob is given to the tail, consisting of 2-10 flexible vertebrae. Thanks to creases, bends and knots, a pom-pom shape is obtained. The length of the hair on the tail is 3-8 cm. Tails are longer or shorter, straight or absent altogether lead to disqualification of the animal at the exhibition. Experts identify several types of pompons:

  • "Whisk" consists of 5-10 vertebrae, broken at an obtuse angle,
  • "Penek" - from shortened 2-8 hard vertebrae,
  • "Spiral" is 3-15 vertebrae, at an acute angle, deformed,
  • pushed back "- 5-7 vertebrae are located straight, there is a squiggle at the end.

Bobtail character

Before you take a cat or a cat into your home, you need to understand what kind of animal will suit a person or family.

In cats of the Kurilian Bobtail breed, the character is excellent for living in an enclosed space of an apartment, in a family. Many people think that Kuril Bobtails are like dogs, they are devoted to the whole family, and not just to the pet owner. They try to keep the hosts in sight, to be aware of all household events. All owners of bobtails mark their exceptional friendliness even in relation to small children.

Bobtails remember their island origin and positively perceive water. Dialed bath can be a bait for a cat who willingly crawls into the water to swim.

Bobtails get along well with other pets and are friendly with dogs.

Kurbob have high activity, they love outdoor games, they jump high and far.

This breed has a very high intelligence, they quickly learn, understand the prohibitions established by the owner of the rules do not practically violate. Many bobtail owners are surprised to realize that their pets can open the doors themselves, are able to detect the food or goodies hidden from them, and recognize themselves in the mirror.

An inherent feature of this breed is increased talkativeness and sociability. Adult cats and Kurilian bobtail kittens can meow, purr, as well as make all kinds of sounds (tweet, growl, bleat, bark), making up whole sentences of them.

People and cats

What about the cats and cats of the Kurilian bobtail breed reviews are left by experienced pet owners?

Vladimir, 47 years old, Moscow: “Before, I did not think about whether I love cats. My wife bought a Kuril bobtail, saying that a child needs a pet. They called Francois-Rene, became Rene. Reenka, the only one from the family, knows for sure when I have a bad mood or a problem at work, then he will sit nearby and look sympathetically. He taught him to perform different teams, making friends happy when the cat drags on his socks, “dies” or gives a paw. And in general, the house has somehow become more fun. ”

Zhanna, 34 years old, Sevastopol: “I love cats, and I just love bobtails for their wonderful tail! I have a pair - Waffle and Hasek. Funny, playful, sometimes terribly talkative, they like to hide behind the sofas so that I look for them - then they jump out with a cry, scare them like that. In the evening they will sit next to me and watch TV, especially love programs about animals, but also the TV shows are suitable for them. ”

Sergey and Dasha, 25 years old, Omsk: “As soon as they bought their first apartment, they decided to push the cat forward, but they will take me lucky. We knew a little about the Kurilian bobtail cats, but at the exhibition we liked Baikal - it had a funny tail, we were told that it was a “whisk”, and the eyes were very good. Now we are everywhere together, even on camping trips we take the cat with us. He is used to a backpack, obediently sitting there. And our dream is to take Baikal to Lake Baikal! Let them admire each other! ”

Elvira, 17, Ussuriysk: “My parents gave me a cat when I went to the 1st grade. I never part with my Sonya Sunshine! Even the lessons of all her school years she helped me to do - lay on the table and controlled what I was writing. I taught her to dance: to my favorite melodies, Sonya is spinning around me. If I was sick, Sonechka climbed onto my lap, regretted, told something in her own language. I don’t know how I will study at the institute without her, probably I’ll constantly look at the photo of the Kuril bobtail Sonya. ”

Care features

Bobtail - a breed for those who do not particularly like to care for animals:

  1. They do not need to be constantly combed, because wool is not subject to the formation of mats. For a beautiful view of cats, you can comb it once a week.
  2. In food, there are no particular preferences for bobtails, they will eat what the owner teaches.
  3. It is important that this breed lacks a genetic predisposition to various diseases, characteristic of some other cat breeds. In general, they are quite healthy animals.
  4. Remarkably clean.

Where better to buy kittens

To be sure that the pet will live a long happy life, not suffering from various diseases, not forcing the owner to spend days in the veterinary clinic, pitying his four-legged friend, it is better not to buy a cat or a cat from the hands of the market and in dubious institutions

Decent kennels value their reputation, which has been built up over the years, so on their sites you can study the reviews of people who have already bought cats here. Kurilian Bobtail kennels provide information on kittens parents. The owners of nurseries carefully monitor the health of the wards, breeding only strong beautiful offspring, regularly carry out veterinary examinations of animals. Serious breeders of cats and cats eat high-quality feed, have enough space for games, recreation. Such nurseries do not seek to increase the birth of each cat in the pursuit of profit - the quality of the offspring is more important than quantity.

From birth, kittens in nurseries are taught not only to maintain cleanliness in the house and personal hygiene, but also to the human hands, they psychologically trust people.

One of the most famous in Russia is “Golden Mean”, a nursery of Kuril bobtails in Moscow. The first appeared handsome Yantar, fully corresponding to his name the owner of a golden-amber fur coat. He became the numerous winner of various exhibitions, including the title holder of the World Champion. When Amber got a girlfriend - Cesaria Chrysanthemum Siberia, the owners of a beautiful couple in 2009 decided to form a nursery. Since then, more than 400 different colors of animals of excellent quality have grown. Born in the nursery "Golden mean" live in different cities of Russia, Greece, Germany, Italy, Denmark, the Baltic States, France, Kazakhstan and other countries. The Kuril Bobtail offering (Moscow) is responsible for all of its kittens.

When choosing a cat or a Kurilian bobtail cat, a photo of the animal must be viewed before visiting the nursery. It happens that one glance at a photograph is enough to understand that it is your animal.

How much are bobtails

The price of a kitten is determined by a number of circumstances:

  • prestige and reputation of the nursery,
  • pedigree quality,
  • color,
  • kitty class.

Feline conditionally divided into the following classes:

  • шоу/премиум – самый дорогой, поскольку животные являются породистыми образцами, в дальнейшем планируется их участие в выставках и получение от них потомства,

  • брид – класс для кошек, которые сами имеют некоторые несоответствия стандарту, но приносят котят шоу-класса,
  • pet - the presence of non-standards or defects does not allow the animal to take part in exhibitions, but does not hurt to be a pet.

For these reasons, the kittens of the Kuril bobtail at the moment can cost up to 15 thousand rubles.

Breed origin

It is believed that the breed Kurilian bobtail appeared independently or with little human intervention. Their natural habitat is Sakhalin and, as the name implies, the Kuril Islands (mainly Kunashir and Iturup). The latter are a chain of 56 volcanic formations stretching from Kamchatka to Hokkaido.

According to documented information, short-tailed cats have existed in this area for at least the last 200 years. According to one version, they could get to the Kuril Islands from Japan. The country has its own version of this breed, living here for several centuries and being a local symbol of good luck. There is a possibility that the start of the Kuril breed was somehow put on the islands and feral Japanese bobtails. But there is no evidence for this version.

Ordinary, domestic cats, which came to the islands together with the ancient (V-VII centuries AD) navigators, could become another potential ancestor of the breed. This hypothesis explains the variety of colors of the species.

Outside their natural habitat, animals became known thanks to Russian scientists and the military, who brought them home from the islands. The Kurilian bobtail cat breed came to the mainland in the 80s of the last century, according to some sources, the arrival of the species on the “mainland” occurred in the 50s. In the early 1990s, their selection began in Russia and some former Soviet republics, closer to the middle of the decade - in Europe.

One of the first to breed Bobtails in the Russian Federation was Tatyana Botcharova and Liliya Ivanova. Both faced problems in the early stages of work. So, Botcharova took too many animals, and, due to inadequate care, her kittens were often sick. Ivanova, on the contrary, worked with such a small number of individuals that the closely related interbreeding led to a deterioration in the viability of the offspring. But it was her cats that became the basis for many modern Russian nurseries.

Since 2002, animals have been participating in international exhibitions. Breed recognized cat associations of most countries, including the United States and Canada. But in North America it is still not very common. The “smokers” are much more popular in Russia and European countries. The World Cat Federation (World Cat Federation) recognized the breed in 1994.

The nature of the Kuril bobtail

We can say that the domesticated Kuril bobtail character in many ways resembles wild relatives. So, the cat has kept the love of hunting and fishing. Powerful paws and developed muscles make him an excellent earner, and instincts support interest in game, regardless of nutrition and other activity.

Some argue that the "kulelets" is able to catch fish weighing about 5 kg. Consequently, lovers of ornamental ponds with koi carps and other inhabitants acquiring a bobtail should take care to isolate the animal from the pond. The same is desirable for owners of aquariums.

Kuril bobtail character in many ways resembles wild relatives

Due to their island origin, representatives of this breed are loyal to water. This simplifies their washing, but can lead to undesirable bathing and damage to the decorative container.

“Kuroiltsy” is a smart, intelligent, curious and independent kind, who, however, loves communication with a person. These cats get along well with children (preferably left with babies over 6 years old) and strangers, they are friendly to dogs and other pets, with the exception of potential prey. If there is no game partner, the animal will easily entertain itself.

Cats quickly learn domestic rules - it is usually enough for Bobtails to explain once what can or cannot be done in a particular case. Although they will follow the well-known rules depending on the current mood and character. It is better to gently, without praise and without punishment, to teach your pet to perform specific tasks from childhood.

If the owners allow, the “smokers” happily sleep with them in bed or on the couch, during the evening rest. Representatives of this type are well trained and can, in particular, learn a number of “dog” commands, like “give a paw” or “to me”. Despite the "hunting" past, the breed rarely shows aggressiveness.

Like many cats, these love to jump and survey the possessions from the headwaters. The bobtail structure allows them to reach higher places, which should be taken into account by the owners when placing vases and other interior items. Representatives of the breed are well adapted to changes in the environment and do not require complex care.

Naturally active Kurilian bobtails need ways to release energy. They should organize zones where animals can run and play freely. Often they extend to the whole apartment (house), but are sometimes limited to the installation site of a special cat "tree". In addition, a small plastic pool or other water tank that is not prone to tilting will fit the bobtail for games.

Pet health

In Kurilian bobtail the description of the breed marks the good health of the animals. Wild ancestors provided them with endurance, and genes, unlike some other tailless species, such as Manx, do not create a predisposition to any diseases. The average life span of individuals is 15–20 years.

Of course, cats can suffer from various diseases. So, common problems for bobtails are diarrhea, diseases of the organs of vision and lower urinary tract. But their appearance, rather, due to improper care or other external factors, rather than a predisposition of the breed.

Bobtail Care

In the wild, this species usually feeds on meat and fish. A person on such a diet would quickly be confronted with a deterioration in health, but such a diet is necessary for “smokers” in order to get enough protein and fat. Carbohydrate them, due to the characteristics of the gastrointestinal tract, are contraindicated. Such food, including dog food and pieces from the table, leads to overweight and the risk of developing diabetes in an animal.

Choosing a natural ration for a bobtail, you should focus on meat and fish (sea). Dairy products for such pets are undesirable, as are carbohydrate-rich vegetables, like potatoes. Raw foods, although they are accustomed to the ancestors of domestic "Kursk", it is better to limit, so as not to expose them to the risk of infection with parasites. Meat, offal (for example, liver) and fish must be boiled at least a little or they must be kept in the freezer for several days.

Making a choice in favor of ready-made feeds, the owner will have to prepare for significant costs. Bobtail is suitable premium or holistic class products. Indicate the correct brand may be a veterinarian, but the last word will be for the consumer. "Kuril" are fastidious in food. If the feed or other product is not liked, the cat will not eat it, despite the tenacity of the owner.

In severe cases, the animal may go on a hunger strike, which creates a risk of death due to liver failure. Change the diet should also be gradually, adding, for about a week, all large portions to the usual pet food. As with most breeds, a clear choice should be made in favor of the diet: regular foods or ready-made food.

Adults are fed twice a day. Kittens, weaned from the mother's milk, give food 6 times a day. This mode is maintained up to four months with a gradual transition to three meals a day.

Bobtail wool is thick, but does not require special attention of the owner. Pet with a short coat is enough to comb once a week. The owners of medium-length wool can be subjected to hairdressing procedures every 3-4 days. More frequent brushing is allowed if the cat likes this display of attention. It is easy to bathe Kuril cats, considering their love for water. Washing is not an obligatory procedure. To her resorted, if noticeably contaminated wool.

Breeds are well suited to private homes with a well-maintained, well-protected courtyard from escaping a pet. Active and curious bobtails will find a lot of entertainment on the site. Suitable for their habitat and apartment. But, as mentioned above, the rooms must be equipped with the jumping ability and mobility of the pet. Zones with toys and cat walls will help the animal train the brain and body.

Any deviations from the norm, such as the deterioration of the quality of wool, changes in the behavior of a long rejection of food, it is better to show the pet to the vet. You must consult your doctor on a regular basis to update vaccinations.

Pregnancy and breeding features

There are expert opinions that Kuril cats should start to acquire offspring no sooner than upon reaching two years of age. This minimizes the health risks posed by pregnancy. In general, it is tolerated by the species easily, with minimal need for human participation. The normal gestation period for the female is 60-70 days. If childbirth occurs before the lower bar is called, kittens are usually not viable.

Up to 6 calves may be present in the litter, but usually the female brings 2-3 babies. For normal existence, females also should not become pregnant and give birth more than once a year. This factor partially explains the high cost of the Kuril Bobtail breed.

The price for a kitten varies depending on the pedigree, gender, prestige of the nursery and other factors. But, on average, for a baby from a breeder with all the necessary documents, including certificates of health and genetics, you will have to pay 10,000 rubles (about 150 US dollars). Wild bobtail, brought from its natural habitat, will cost at least an order of magnitude more expensive. In addition to transferring the agreed amount to the seller, the financial costs of the buyer include checking the kitten at the vet and issuing relevant documents.

The advantage of buying wild animals is to attract "new blood" in nurseries. Due to the small initial number of individuals, there is a high risk of inbreeding or closely related crossing. As a result, unwanted genes are activated, leading, for example, to the almost complete disappearance of the tail. In kittens in such cases, it may consist of only one vertebra.

Also changes the appearance and thickness of wool. Being engaged in breeding bobtails, you should check whether potential partners have close relatives. Given the availability of documents with a detailed description of genealogy, it is not difficult to find out.

In terms of content, breeding "Kuril" is easier than representatives of some other breeds. They easily get on with relatives and are unpretentious in leaving. The main thing is to keep the males and females separately outside the mating periods and choose partners with external data (such as the shape of a tail) that meet the requirements for future offspring.

Interesting facts about the breed

Kuril bobtails are one of 13 natural or aboriginal breeds recognized by the International Cat Association (TICA). The authority allowed them to compete in 2012.
This species is distinguished by its silence. But, in an effort to express emotions, Kuril bobtails emit a wide range of sounds, somewhat reminiscent of bird chirping.

According to expert estimates, the males of this breed are excellent fathers who are willing to take care of the offspring with their mother.

Mention of Kuril Bobtails in documents appeared 200 years ago. But experts can not exactly determine how the breed appeared. According to one version, this is the result of the crossing of Japanese bobtails with Siberian cats. An alternative theory involves the formation of a specific tail due to the impact of harsh island conditions.

In many ways, representatives of the species resemble dogs. This applies not only to devotion and the ability to teach diverse teams. Like dogs, “smokers” cannot fully retract claws. This is a characteristic feature of the breed that distinguishes purebred specimens from mesises.

To cut the claws, unless their length interferes with the animal, is undesirable.

Owners of cats are often blamed for the specific smell in the apartment from animals. Kuril Bobtails, according to some owners, are deprived of this disadvantage. The species is distinguished by its cleanliness, and the urine, even in males, often does not have the characteristic “flavor”.

A little more about the "Kuril"

Kuril bobtails were bred in the late twentieth century. Initially, they were known as aborigines in the Kuriles, as we wrote, their daily work was to run after rats, kill them too, and hunt together with the owners and fish. So, it cost one of the researchers of the Kuril Islands to notice an unusual cat, not at all similar to domestic cats, with a short tail, so she fell into his soul. It was decided to bring one individual to his home in order to bring out more such clever and funny creatures.

After the Kurilov, the Russians were the first to know about the existence of Bobtail cats. Well, of course, Japan is in fact close by, our soldiers who served in Japan in those years began to massively carry them to Russia. So, literally after the collapse of the Union, the very first Kurilian bobtail arrives in Moscow, which it was decided to call Chip - O. Breeders briskly began to take out new bobtails. One of the very first cats - bobtails was a cat, bred in the late 90s by felinologist Olga Mironova. Already after six years, the standard of this breed recognized the IFC. In 1996, the first nursery in the country appeared in the capital of the Russian Federation, where they still contain “Kuril”. After Russia, in Europe, too, bobtail lovers' clubs began to appear, more such nurseries and clubs today in American cities, also in Italian, Polish and German major cities.

It is interesting!
Nowadays, officially Kuril Bobtails at various international and generally accepted exhibitions, as well as with the purpose of advertising the breed, are always exposed as a completely new, recently bred breed in the international cat association TICA. And since 2009, short-haired and semi-long-haired bobtails are recognized WorldCatFederation and Fédération Internationale Féline.

Care Kuril Bobtail

It is very easy to care for the Kuril, their wool does not spread throughout the hut. Therefore, only 2 times a week they need to be combed to rid the cat of the old, dead wool.

Feed the cat should be any meat (meat caught game kurily adore). Also in the daily diet should enter semi-digested cereals and grass. In general, make sure that the cat food is mostly protein. Buy your pet fish, eggs, any dairy products, and do not forget to add to the food ready-made complex of vitamins and minerals, specially designed for cats.

Where to buy and how much it costs

Nowadays, pedigree Kurilian bobtails can be purchased at the Golden Mid Center, a well-known Moscow nursery, and also in St. Petersburg and other major Russian cities, nurseries of Kurilian bobtail lovers exist almost everywhere. In Ukraine, “smokers” are sold in the famous “Moreman”. And Belarusians can buy a Kuril bobtail home by visiting the local Minsk nursery “Geppi Gunter”.

The cost of small Kuril bobtails depends on what class the kitten is, what color it is, where it is sold, whether it has a pedigree (i.e., whether there are direct ancestors of the bobtail). It is for this reason, for one such cat, it is possible to lay out from two to sixteen thousand rubles.
