The duck is black and white

Breed Black white-breasted - the result of several stages of selection. The gray Ukrainian was taken as the base breed, it was crossed with Peking and khaki-Campbell. The Ukrainian Poultry Institute (UAAN) is engaged in breeding, at the moment the population for the preservation of the gene pool has about 400 individuals, mostly females (more than 300 birds). Until 1985, the breed was distributed mainly in the Kharkov, Kiev, Vinnitsa regions, but gradually spread throughout the Soviet Union.

Now in Russia, a black and white individual is most often found in private farms, since it belongs to the category of meat-beating ducks. Breed more domestic and in industrial production is rare.

The main characteristics of the breed

The main task of crossing was to create a hybrid breed, which would have a high weight and at the same time a high egg production rate. The main goal was achieved, and today the black duck has the following characteristics:

Black white-breasted duck and her offspring

  • precocity - at two months the young individuals gain up to two kilograms and are ready for slaughter,
  • the mass of an adult bird - a drake weighs up to 4 kg, a duck - up to 3.4 kg,
  • egg production - in one season one individual is able to carry up to 130 eggs,
  • egg weight - 85-90 g,
  • puberty - 6 months.

Black and white domestic ducks have this appearance:

  • the head is the same color as the body, small, elongated, the eyes are black, the beak is short, curved down, black,
  • body - vertical, elongated with a massive chest and long neck,
  • feet - short, massive, black,
  • wings - have a large span, well developed,
  • tail - small, neat, slightly curved,
  • plumage - torso and head black, chest white. In males around the neck plumage has a beautiful greenish tide.

The breed of black and white ducks is distinguished by unpretentiousness to the living conditions, however, when raising ducklings under the age of 18 days, it is necessary to adhere to the temperature regime.

Black and white ducks have an increased resistance to various infectious agents: both bacterial and viral, and therefore do not need additional prophylaxis. They are unclean, make a lot of noise, especially in the absence of food.

How to feed a black white-breasted duck

Individual preferences in food individuals black and white breed do not have. For improved meat qualities, ducks should be fed dry and wet food.

The composition must include several types of cereals: D

In order for white-breast ducks to have tasty and tender meat, the feed must contain:

Recipes approximate rations

  • meal,
  • wheat bran,
  • soy peas
  • meat and bone, feather and fish meal,
  • hydrolysis yeast,
  • shell,
  • inedible fat,
  • powdered milk,
  • salt,
  • vitamin complexes.

Daily ducklings need to be fed with hard-boiled eggs, finely chopped them or through a meat grinder. After two days, you can add cottage cheese, fine-grained groats - barley, corn or oatmeal. On the fifth day of life, grass should be introduced into the diet, finely chopped, ten days later - boiled potatoes, which replace up to 50% of grain feed.

White-breasted Duck Chicks

Ducklings need to prepare wet mash. For this you need to boil dry food or boil over boiling water. It is impossible to make a pasty consistency mash, as this can cause gluing of the nasal openings.

The first decade needs to feed the youngsters up to five times a day, then reduce to three meals. If water walking is assumed, the amount of feed will be slightly reduced. Since the breed of black white-breasted duck does not differ in cleanliness, it is better to put them high troughs and fill them with only a third of the grain, so they will scatter less.

How to make feed for ducks

It is advisable to add amino acids - methionine or lysine.

Adult ducks of white-breasted breed need both wet food and dry. It is not necessary to buy industrial feed - self-prepared mixture will become a cheaper alternative.

How to keep whitegrass ducks

White-breasted ducks in the yard

The young of several days of life requires special conditions of detention. If you plan to breed birds in large quantities, it is better to equip a special brodergauz. It is a chicken house, with separate sections, in which ducklings are placed. Birds are not locked in cages and can move freely.

Manholes are made in the walls, which allows ducklings to freely go outside. The floor in the brodergauz is lined with hay, sawdust, but more preferred is moss peat. It absorbs moisture faster, can absorb ten times its own weight.

At the beginning 10 cm of litter is made, then the dry layer is gradually added.

The house is heated by brooders - electric heaters of the umbrella type. Up to 500 ducks can fit under one device. In the first two weeks of life, the youngsters are set to a temperature of 22-30 ° C, then gradually reduced to 18 ° C.

Oxygen should be supplied to the house all the time, but drafts should be avoided. For the black white-breasted duck, not only for the young, but also for the adult, the draft becomes disastrous.

Black white-breasted ducklings on the meadow

In the summer, three-week-old ducklings are allowed to walk in the pen, which must necessarily have a shelter, as a shelter from the sun and rain. Drinkers and feeders are located in the center of the site. In order for the ducks to be comfortable, the area of the pen should be calculated from the condition: one meter for five heads.

From one and a half months white-breasted ducks can go out into the water, this is a more natural environment, where they get additional minerals and vitamins. When water walking should reduce the amount of dry or wet food.

Breeding black white-breasted breed

For breeding ducks from the total number of young stock, so-called repair individuals are selected. There are five females per drake.

Birds must comply with weight parameters:

Black belogrudy - drake (right) and duck (left)

  • the 22 weeks old drake weighs 2.7 kg,
  • female - 2.5 kg.

Eggs are selected for incubation in ducks at 26 weeks of age. Any damage to the shell: irregular shape, dirt, the presence of two yolks - this is the reason not to use eggs for further breeding. It is necessary to select only fresh eggs of white color, which were stored at a temperature of 10 - 12 ° C for no more than one week.

Depending on the planned brood volume, a small laboratory incubator can be used. It is a box with cells for laying eggs and may have a different capacity. It is important that the temperature is constant, provide fresh air, as well as automatically or manually cranking the eggs.

For a small farm you can use the hen. Under one duck enclose up to 15 eggs. Near her perch organize a drinking bowl and a feeding trough. On the ninth and twenty-sixth day you need to view the eggs on the ovoskop, in case of detection of unfit, remove them. An inspection is made in the absence of a hen. It is noteworthy that chickens, geese and turkeys can hatch duck eggs. Under the chicken you can put up to ten eggs.

The average duration of incubation or incubation for black white-breasted duck breed is 28 days. The breed has a high survival rate of hatched ducklings - up to 93%.

Slapping ducks using cones to immobilize

Black and white breed has a tasty and dietary meat, the proportion of fat in the range of 16%. The most tender meat in birds at the age of two months, at this time it is better to produce slaughter. When the period of the first molt begins, the organism grows up, the internal organs increase significantly, the plumage hardens, the meat becomes hard. Before slaughter it is better not to feed the bird, the best would be not to give it feed in the evening and by morning the stomach will be empty.

Black blonde

Muscovy duck or Indeot originally from South and Central America, its ancestors wild musk ducks still live in the territory from Mexico to Paraguay.

Wild Musk is a forest duck, little is associated with water, and the ability to fly well is preserved in domestic ducks, so they have to cut the wings. Unlike other ducks, Indoouts do not quack, but make hissing sounds.

It got its name because of the musky smell, a sharp musky smell emanated from the drakes during the breeding season, or there is an opinion that the Indians, the Aztec tribe, tamed it and therefore the name - indo outcast.

In each country it is called differently: in South America - royal or iberianin Canada and the USA - Brazilian, in Russia - Indoutkoth, spike, warty, in Europe - dumb, barbarian, indian or Turkish. Judging by the name - indo outcast, it would seem to many that the duck was crossed with a turkey. It is not, duck belongs to the subfamily spur goose, but in many ways it is more true of real ducks.

Muscovy ducks have various color of plumage - it is white, white with blue pattern, white with black pattern, wild, wild blue, brown wild, black and white, brown and white, black, gray (blue).

Their appearance is very original.

Muscovy ducks have an original appearance, they differ from other ducks. The face, the space around the eyes and the base of the beak instead of feathers, is covered with flat red outgrowths (like in turkeys). The width of the growths should not exceed the width of the head.

From the base of the beak, the growths descend to the nasal openings and form a crescent without deep depressions; in the middle of the crescent an integral cylindrical growth grows. In ducks such growths are less pronounced. The neck is strong, short. The head of the indoutok is large, rounded, the top is convex, the forehead is flat.

At the drake on the top and in the upper part of the neck there are long feathers that create a “hairstyle”, which is especially noticeable when he is agitated or angry, then the feathers stand on end. The middle beak narrows towards the end, smooth, the tip is curved, the color of the beak depends on the color of the plumage.

The eyes are large, located almost in the middle of the head, the color depends on the color of feathers, in older birds it is always lighter than in young ones. The long body, chest and back are wide, powerful wings, the tail is long, slightly raised. Legs short, covered with feathers on top. When walking with musk ducks, the head moves forward and backward, especially in the drakes.

The weight of adult drakes reaches 5–5,5 kg, ducks 2.3–2.5 kg.

Eggs start laying at 6-7 months.
First cycle egg production lasts 4-5 months, during which time they demolish 80-90 eggs, then molting occurs.
Second cycle laying eggs begins after molting, (about 3 months later), and in 3-4 months a duck lays another 50-60 eggs. Egg mass 75-80 gr.

The incubation period of eggs lasts 34-35 days.

Muscovy duck unpretentious in keeping and feeding, she is calm, does not require the construction of a reservoir, it will be enough for the pelvis with water.

The egg production of musk ducks is low, but the eggs are edible, the meat is red, tender and very tasty.

Musk duck content

The house for musk ducks, as well as for ducks of other breeds, must be warm, dry and well ventilated.

They do not like dirt and dampness in the room, so it is better to place the trough on the netted floor, having thought over where the water will flow so that it is dry near the trough. Feeders are located away from drinking bowls.

The litter in the indoutok, must be dry, damp and moldy litter can cause the disease - aspergillosis. The litter is used, as for all other ducks.

According to the density of landing, adult ducks are kept per 1 sq. M. - 3 heads. At 4-5 females leave one drake. In females, puberty comes earlier, therefore they try to keep the drakes 1 to 1.5 months older, leaving them from the previous brood.

Light day for musk ducks that have reached 6 months of age, increase to 16 - 17 hours, and adhere to this level for 3-4 months. For 1-1.5 months before the end of the laying of eggs, daylight hours increase by two hours. The lighting should not be very bright, it is better to paint the bulbs red to prevent pecking at the ducks.

To "update blood" in the herd, many owners buy drakes, or exchange with other poultry farmers.

Muscovy ducks sit on eggs for hatching ducklings in a peculiar way, if eggs are collected daily, in empty nests, the duck will not sit, she does not like other people's nests. A duck will set on eggs, only when 12-14 eggs are gradually accumulated in the nest. In the drakes, the seasonality of the sexual instinct is manifested sharply; if in April-May the eggs are fertilized to 95%, then by the end of summer it reaches 60%.

Musk drakes also contain females of other breeds of ducks; they produce inter-specific hybrids (mulardy), which are grown only for meat. Adult mulardy are fruitless, for the offspring they are not left. At 2 months, mulardy have a live weight of about 3 kg, and in terms of meat quality, they are closer to musk ducks. It is better to cross in the spring, while the drakes have increased sexual activity.

The lack of musk ducks in the poor hatchability of the ducklings in the incubator, but with natural incubation, this deficiency does not occur. It turns out that for musk ducks the egg shell is covered with a film that does not allow air, and because of this it is difficult for the embryo to breathe and develop.

When the duck incubates the ducklings itself, it touches the egg, and with its plumage and paws it removes the film, which allows the embryo to breathe. It is noticed, if the egg is demolished before, the hatchability from it is greater than that of the freshly carried one. This is due to a decrease in the protective function of the egg film coating.

Muscovy ducks for breeding can be kept up to 3 years.

Maintenance and care of ducklings

As already mentioned in the previous article, in the incubator, the ducklings exit worse than the ducklings hatch under the hen. They hatch from the eggs wet, give them time to dry under the duck, and then transplant in a box with a temperature of 28-30 degrees. When all the ducklings hatch, they are placed on the hen, you can get the ducklings hatched in the incubator, but the total number of ducklings should not exceed 20 pieces.

It is necessary to feed the ducklings no later than 12 hours after hatching; in the first three days they are fed with a hard-boiled duck or chicken egg. It is finely crumbled and mixed with cereal: millet, barley, corn or oatmeal, in a 1: 1 ratio.

(on the 5th ducklings there is one egg). On the second day, low-fat cottage cheese is added to the ration, on the third day dandelion, clover, grated carrots, etc. are added.

, it is better to give nettle on the 10th day (or scalding it with boiling water, or grafted).

From the first day, you can also give starter feed up to 10 days, where all the vitamins are, and then the ducklings do not feed either eggs or cereals, but from the 3rd day to the feed, they also give greens.

From a week old ducklings are given boiled potatoes, cabbage, and beets. From the 3rd week give food waste.

Fodder is cooked in meat, fish broth, in skewer, yogurt, or meat and bone meal, fish meal, fish oil is added to feed.

Wet mash potatoes are prepared just before feeding, and they make sure that the ducklings eat them in 30-40 minutes, because in warm weather the mash quickly sours, which can lead to indigestion.

Up to two weeks, ducklings are fed 6-8 times, then 4-5 times, and from one month of age 3 times.

The need for grown up ducklings for nutrients can be satisfied by a third or more, if there is a reservoir with rich aquatic vegetation and living creatures nearby.

When growing musky ducklings in closed premises or in a limited enclosed area, it is advisable to place them separately on the floor, this ensures the possibility of differentiated planting density, the required duration of fattening of males and females, reduced feed costs, increases the safety of the young. Young animals can be divided by sex at 2 weeks of age by body size - males are almost 1.5 times larger than females. Monitoring the development of musk ducklings can be carried out on a lively weekly mass.

In the first 2 days, the hen and ducklings are kept in a warm room, and from the 3-4th day, if the weather permits, they are let out for a walk.

But admitting to bathing ducklings or not, here the opinions of experts are divided. If you grow ducklings for meat, bathing extends the fattening period, hence the overrun of feed.

But, ducklings, bred in an incubator, are allowed to water after a month, at this age their oil gland only begins to produce a fat secret, due to which the plumage is lubricated.

Thanks to this lubricant, the ducklings are protected from overcooling and their down does not get wet. But from time to time, the process of bathing ducklings needs to be controlled, especially if the brood is without a brood.

Cultivation of the 10 best large meat breeds of ducks

Large meat ducks reach the desired size only with proper care. The main component is considered a balanced diet. Keeping birds requires a specific feeding regime.

Daily ducklings are fed with boiled eggs with the addition of grated oatmeal. Then cottage cheese and greens are gradually introduced into the diet. During the day the animal should eat about eight times.

When an individual begins to actively grow, the number of meals is reduced to three.

Feeding consists of components such as:

  • seaweed,
  • vegetables,
  • greenery,
  • flour from fish bones.

Despite the fact that birds willingly eat leftover food, they still need special foods. If you want to breed ducks of meat breed that are growing rapidly, you should evaluate the financial side of the issue.

In the cold season, they need to give grain, and not every farmer grows it in their fields. Pre-hold seasonal purchases. There should be enough reserves up until the moment when the weather is warm.

In the spring, the ducks are released for free feeding, but there is always a feeder with grain in the house.

Feed the animals start from the first days. To do this, they lodge in a separate place, away from adults. It will be possible to save the offspring if a stable room temperature prevails in the temporary dwelling, the location is not blown by drafts. In the feed, you can add vitamins, commercial mixes.

From the actions of the owner depends on how much the duck grows for meat. Birds also need free space. There are 2-3 individuals per square meter. In this case, they will not be crowded. If you are feeding animals, this does not mean that they should lead a low-active way of life.

On the contrary, good walking promotes appetite.

In the barn you need to arrange cozy nests, because the females of fast-growing breeds also carry eggs. Take care that pasture during the rainy season does not turn into a swamp. The flooring of the house is better to make concrete, since other materials tend to absorb liquid. Entering such a reaction, there are harmful substances, not to mention the smell.

The best breeds

What breed of ducks would be better for meat, you decide. In most cases, the choice is based on the financial capabilities of the host. Since the moment man learned to tame animals, more than one millennium has passed. Nowadays there is statistics, proven by many years of practice. Experienced poultry farmers brought the rating, which includes the fastest growing ducks of meat breeds.

The duck is by nature almost omnivorous. She can eat as much as a large animal. In addition, if you walk the birds on the backyard territory, you can easily get rid of weeds.

Individuals grow up to three kilograms, males - to five. To preserve a presentable type of meat, slaughter is carried out on the 60th day. If you delay this process, then the period of molting will begin.

Young feathers are difficult to remove when plucking.

Black white-breasted

Within 6 months after the birth of the birds can give offspring. Their eggs are rather large, oval-shaped. Duck meat is very fat, so it is valued in the global market.

As a rule, young animals are selected for slaughter, weighing up to 2.5 kg. Their genetic structure allows mating of individuals of different breeds. In this case, the offspring will get stronger, resistant to disease.

Drakes reach 4 kg of live weight, and the edible part is about 70%.

Swedish blue

One of the largest meat breed ducks, which are widely distributed abroad. They have strong immunity, good muscle mass. The diet of the swedish blue ducks consists mainly of animal feed and greens. For them, it is vital to walk more in free space. If you do not provide them with a comfortable pasture, this will affect the timing of weight gain and product quality.

Bashkir colored

Standard weight ranges from 3 to 4 kg in the adult, and 2 kg in the young.

Despite the positive qualities - such as resistance to disease and maintaining low temperatures, there are significant drawbacks: animals are prone to obesity, and this is disadvantageous for the farmer.

Meat with a high fat content is not so appreciated in the market. Trouble can be avoided if you carefully monitor the diet. Another negative quality is considered a loud cry.

Practice shows that the largest meat ducks grow from this breed. Thanks to the growth on its beak, the bird got its second name - indooot. In order for an individual to reach optimal weight, a little more time is needed than in previous cases. This is due to a special metabolism. Despite the long waiting period, meat of this breed is considered to be lean.

It is more of a hybrid (born from the union of Peking and musk ducks) than a separate breed. Thanks to this cross, mulardy grows quickly with a low percentage of fat.

These birds are considered an exclusive breed of meat. They are derived abroad and can grow only in special conditions. Their tender meat is distinguished by a dark shade, incredible taste and juiciness.

Black ducks with a white breast and a white beak, what are they

Among the many feathered waterfowl, these beauties are especially noticeable. They have not only black plumage, but also white parts that stand out against this background - their beak or breast.

What is the peculiarity of these birds, which of them can be tamed, and who can not be domesticated? Where and how do black ducks live? What they eat and how to multiply? How to breed black ducks and care for them? Consider today these extraordinarily beautiful creatures.

To begin with, these waterfowl are distinguished by two types: black ducks with a white beak and black ducks with a white breast. Their plumage, the color of the raven wing attracts many views, often in the pictures of famous and not very artists you can see these beauties ...

Black duck with white beak or coot

This duck has unusual white beak against a matte black color. At the front of the head, the coot has a small growth that is very similar to the bald spot, due to which these waterfowl get their name. The paws of a black duck are usually yellow-orange with gray fingers. Here is a detailed description of a coot:

  • A strong constitution, their weight reaches one and a half kilogram.
  • Body length is 35–40 cm.
  • The head is medium in size with a small white outgrowth in the frontal part.
  • White beak is small.
  • The iris of the eye is bright red.
  • Short tail.
  • Paws of a yellow-orange color with gray fingers.
  • Color black or dark gray.

Habitat and habitat

Black duck with white beak Often can be found in Central Asia, Kazakhstan, India, Afghanistan, Mongolia, China and in almost all CIS countries,

Coot prefers lightly salted and fresh water bodies. It nests in shallow water in places with dense thickets of reeds, reeds, etc. It settles in shallow water bodies, since it gathers its food on their bottom.

Natural enemies of ducks are magpies and crows, stealing eggs from the nests, falcons, golden eagles, marsh harrier, and muskrats. Quite often, coots nests and minks with otters, sometimes foxes or weasels. Smelling the danger, the coot tries to raise as much of the spray as possible, while attacking it is protected by a beak and wings. These waterfowl live on average 15–19 years.

Breeding

The mating season for these waterfowl begins in March or in May, if the habitat is cold. Females, attracting the attention of males, circle around them in the water, beat on it with wings and make very loud sounds. When a pair is formed, duck and drake begin to take very careful care of each other - they share food, clean their feathers and protect themselves against enemies together.

If there is enough food in the reservoir and it is relatively safe around, then it is there that the black duck will make nests for laying eggs. Nest coot they will be in thickets, quiet and distant from the coast. If this bird is disturbed during the construction of the nest, it will drop the job and go to another place, where it will again attempt to make a nest.

Cooler's nests usually reach 40 cm in size. It looks like a pile of dry reed with a small depression in the middle. The inner surface of the coot is lined with green foliage, which, after drying, forms a tray. Nests are fastened with long stems, one end going into the water, which creates the necessary level of balancing.

Spread a coot from 5 to 12 eggs, after which both parents incubate them for about 22 days. Ducklings, already after 2 weeks, are lowered into the water after their parents and learn to get food for themselves.

Nutrition

As mentioned above, in search of food, coots dive to the bottom of ponds, 2-3 meters in depth. They feed mainly on what they find on the bottom - algae, duckweed and other aquatic vegetation.

But sometimes, especially in winter, when plants lack black ducks do not stop animal food, for example, they can use water insects, fry, fish spawn and mollusks. Coot pulls out a plant with its beak, with it comes up and begins its meal .

Strong individuals can take food from the weaker, so if a black duck has a pair, then they will look for food together, and when they have to - defend themselves from their relatives.

Habits.

Coots are excellent swimmers and divers. But these black birds fly rather badly, and they rarely rise into the air, mostly only in case of danger, when there is no possibility to escape by water.. And also when it comes time to migrate to warm countries..

These unusual birds live in small groups that almost always fall apart during the mating season. Strong vapors are always formed inside the group.

All attempts to tame a coot have failed, but this bird can admit to itself a person if it does not feel danger from it.

Black and white duck

Unlike their relatives - coot, black white-breasted breed is fully domesticated. Most often it can be found in farms, because this type of poultry is meat and egg.

Description

The black white-breasted breed was bred by repeated selections - it is a hybrid of a Ukrainian gray duck with a Peking and khaki-Campbell. The Ukrainian Poultry Institute is engaged in breeding. Black and white has such wonderful qualities as:

  • High mass - from 3 to 4.5 kg.
  • Earliness - already in 2 months ducks of this breed reach a weight of 2 kg.
  • At 6 months, black white breasts are already getting ready for reproduction.
  • High egg production - in one season the duck of this breed is able to carry up to 150 eggs.
  • Large eggs - one egg can weigh up to 100 grams.

Visually, a black white-breasted duck looks like this:

  • Head and torso rich black color, white breast. Males have plumage around their necks with an unusual green tint.
  • Eyes and beak black.
  • The head is small in comparison with the body size.
  • The trunk is quite massive with a long neck.
  • Well developed wings with a small span.
  • Small tail.
  • Short paws black.

Nutrition.

In food, black white-breasted ducks are unpretentious, but for good meat qualities, wheat, corn and barley must be included in the diet. The composition of feed must include:

  • Fish and meat and bone meal.
  • Meal.
  • Powdered milk.
  • Salt.
  • Soy peas
  • Wheat bran.
  • Vitamin supplements.

Ducklings need to start feeding boiled chopped eggs. A few days after the eggs, cottage cheese and barley or oatmeal are introduced. When babies are 5 days old, you can give them finely chopped grass. In 10 days - 50% of the diet should be boiled potatoes. At first, they feed the ducklings 5 times a day, gradually bringing the number of feedings to 3.

Maintenance and care

If you plan to breed a large number of birds, then for this you need to equip a special poultry house. This is a kind of house with separate sections where ducklings can move freely. Inside the walls of the house, manholes are set up so that the ducklings can freely go outside.

The floor in the house must be laid out; hay and sawdust are suitable for this purpose. The thickness of the "carpet" is 10 cm and should gradually increase. The poultry house must be heated, most often used for this electrical heaters.

The first few weeks of life, ducklings need a temperature of 23-30 degrees, then the temperature is gradually reduced to 18 degrees.

Draft for these birds is unacceptable, but oxygen must necessarily come to them in the house.

Breeding black white-breasted ducks

For breeding are selected male weighing at least 2.7 kg and female weighing 2.5 kg. As a rule, there are 5–6 females per male.

Eggs for incubation in females are taken at 26 weeks of age. Shell eggs, double yolk, dirt or irregular shape are unacceptable in eggs. Select only white, fresh eggs, which are not more than 1 week.

If the economy is small, then the duck is the hen. Under it you can put up to 15 eggs. On the 9th and the 26th day, the eggs must be inspected for defects, if any, the egg is removed.

If the eggs are much more use a small incubator. In the incubator it is necessary to maintain a clear, constant temperature, monitor the access of oxygen and periodically turn the eggs.

At 28–0 day you can expect to see ducks.

This is one of the breeds with the highest survival rate - up to 93%.

Bashkir duck: home breeding

The domestic Bashkir duck breed has a glorious pedigree from the world-famous Peking duck, which is an example of a balanced pets pet due to the taste of its meat, unpretentiousness and great fruitfulness.

The birth of the Bashkir duck is due to the breeders of the Blagovarsky breeding plant. In the process of improving the commodity properties of the White Peking duck, they received individuals with different color.

Having paid close attention to them and having carried out a number of research works on the adjustment, consolidation and preservation of the new genome, they obtained an excellent result.

While leaving all the advantages of the Peking duck, the new breed turned out to be more frost-resistant, which is just optimal for our geographic zone.

Since all events took place on the territory of Bashkortostan, the newly-made duck acquired the name "Bashkir".

Bashkir duck has two color options:

  • Khaki, resembling the coloring of ducks in the wild, brown gradually fades into a lighter color when going from back to breast,
  • black white-breasted.

The drake-Bashkir stands out with more flashy colors, which helps to easily recognize the sexual characteristics of the ducklings Bashkir. True, he was deprived of his voice, and the ducks more than compensate for this shortcoming.

According to the description, the carcass looks dense, harmonious. The chest, like a brave soldier, protrudes forward, the head is flattened, the neck is thick, of medium length, the beak is wide concave, which indicates a great appetite. Legs short, strong, widely set.

Drake Bashkir at the age of commodity draws a weight of 4 kg, surpassing the duck which can reach only 3.5–3.7 kg. Although the difference is not extremely large.

The Bashkir ducklings in the first month with appropriate care gain 80% of their final weight. And the meat is completely free of fat, 1.8% is practically nothing, there is no taste, the flesh is very tender.

Connoisseurs of Bashkir meat do not betray their tastes until the end of days, preferring it over similar products.

Breeding ducks. Secrets of the poultry farmer | Agricultural Business

| Agricultural Business

All poultry including ducks are very unpretentious. Their content is a pleasure. Moreover, they do not need to pay much attention. Therefore, ducks are considered passing. Focusing on other affairs ducks take up only a fraction of their free time.
But all the same to successfully grow the ducks you need to know the subtleties to understand them what they want and monitor their health.

The simplest important rules for breeding ducks. Room

Ducks need a warm, kind of sculpted room. With light and warm floor. A warm floor can be achieved by keeping the floor clean and applying straw or fine straw. Straw can be crushed using a special straw chopper or take the dust of straw that is usually collected under strict straw.

The ducks love the aquatic environment, but they do not like dampness.

In addition, harmful bacteria and various parasites are formed in dampness.

In addition to accommodations for the night, they need some space for a walk. Usually it would be more correct to allocate them a plot by enclosing the net. It is not necessary for ducks growing meat for a walk in large areas.

In addition, everyone should have their own place in the household. And it is convenient not to look for and drive all the ducks into their lodge.
It is necessary to provide and tenek.

Like humans, ducks experience discomfort during strong solar activity.

The most important thing about feeders.

Vegetables, fruits and so on. Winter time is advised to make hot dishes in the ration of ducks.

For example, boiled potatoes with bran or grain. Old bread scalded in water.

As you know, ducks in nature live near ponds. Domestic ducks need water no less than wild ones. A good plus for them will be if they have a reservoir. Ducks bathe in water to get rid of parasites and search for their food by filtering silt at the bottom. While receiving the necessary vitamins.

If you let the ducks, they can straddle all day and swim in the water. If your ducks are carrying eggs to a pond or pond, you need to do it after laying eggs. Well if the reservoir is near and everyday bathing them only for the benefit.
But if the reservoir is not close to reduce the amount of swimming. But we can not exclude the need to at least create a temporary reservoir for swimming.

With skillful maintenance and the correct choice of breeds, it is extremely beneficial to keep ducks in the farmstead or in the farm, especially if there is a small reservoir nearby.

The duck does not need perches or nests - it will suit the usual winter room, a simple canopy and straw bedding.

It feeds on greens, grain, kitchen waste - practically any feed available on the farm, and feels good on pasture.

Argued that too voracious duck allegedly does not justify its content. This is a clear misconception. Ducks eat a lot because they grow fast. For 2 months of fattening, they may already be ready for slaughter. If there is a mentioned reservoir, overgrown with duckweed and other aquatic vegetation, then duck will cost even less.

The economic value of the ducks is that in one season from a hen it is possible to get at least 130 kg of meat, based on a simple calculation: the average productivity of one hen per year is about 100 eggs, at least 65 ducklings are derived from them, which, when grown up to two months give 2 kg of meat.

That is why among the main types of poultry in terms of the proportion of livestock and duck meat production they occupy an honorable second place, second only to chickens.

In some farms, with a two-time manning of the parent flock, from one duck, from 140 to 150 ducks are raised with a total live weight of 250–350 kg with feed costs of 3.0–3.6 kg per 1 kg of gain.

Another product of homemade duckling is feather and down. They make soft lush pillows, light and warm quilts, quilted clothes.

And yet ducks are mostly meat-type poultry. Their characteristic features: good viability, fertility, high-grade dietary meat and fairly good egg production.

Duck breeds are divided by their productive qualities into meat, meat, egg and egg.

Duck meat type found the most widespread. They are characterized by high fecundity, precociousness, very good viability, tasty and nutritious meat and satisfactory egg production. These include: Peking duck, gray Ukrainian duck, black white-breasted duck, white Moscow duck, Rouen duck, etc.

Meat ducks have a large size and weight, capable in a short time to give a large number of high-grade meat. From each duck during the year at least 50 ducks can be bred and raised. The more ducks receive from one duck, the more economically advantageous it is.

With abundant feeding and good care, ducks at the age of 50–60 days reach a weight of 2–2.5 kg and are quite suitable for slaughter.

Meat-egg-type ducks are characterized by medium weight, good meat qualities and relatively high egg production. This type includes duck orpington, khaki campbell duck and mirror duck.

But the duck eggs are not widespread, firstly, because of the low weight, and secondly, the chicken in this regard is much more profitable. The most common duck breeds are Indian runners. Egg-type ducks are significantly lighter than meat and meat-egg ducks.

Bashkir color. Bashkir colored ducks were bred at the Blagovarsky breeding plant by selecting and breeding "in themselves" mutant individuals of the Peking duck. These birds have khaki plumage color and black white chest.

A characteristic feature of birds is high productivity, adaptability to the conditions of detention in peasant and household farms, excellent indicators of the meat qualities of the carcass.

Compared to the “Blagovarsky” duck cross, they have a lower fat content in the carcass (by 1.8–3.9%) and a higher muscle yield (by 2.9–4.1%).

Moscow white. Moscow white ducks were bred by the method of reproductive crossing of khaki-campbell ducks with Peking ones. They have a large, long head, a long, wide, white-pink beak, dark blue, high-set eyes.

The neck is long, of moderate thickness, the chest is wide, deep and protruding. The back is long, wide, the body is also long and wide, set almost horizontally, short, of moderate thickness of the leg of a light orange color.

White plumage, without admixture of yellowish-cream color.

Weight of drakes - 4 kg, ducks - 3–3.5 kg. Egg production - 100–150 eggs per year. The egg mass is 85–90 g. The high egg production rate of the bird persists for a number of years.

Meat of ducks of white Moscow breed very gentle and tasty. Ducklings at 50 days of age with proper fattening have good fatness.

The breed is ideal for industrial fattening, and for breeding in the backyard.

Mulard (English mulard, moulard, derived from English. MUscovy duck - musk duck and English malLARD - mallard) is an interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing musk ducks with domestic ducks of Peking White, orpington, Rouen and white ale.

Mulardes that are not found in the wild due to the different geographical range of the common mallard (Eurasia) and the wild musk duck (South America) are bred only at the initiative of the breeders to correct the deficiencies of these breeds.

This meat breed is ideally suited for industrial fattening (its liver, like the liver of geese, is used for such an exquisite dish as foie gras), and for breeding at home.

This breed is particularly suitable for those who do not like fat duck meat, as the percentage of fat is only 3%, which is comparable to goose meat, but at the same time the period of feed of the goose is 6-8 months, and the period of fattening the mulard is 4 months.

Economic disadvantages of hybrid musk ducks can be considered slow growth, late maturity, heat-loving, small live weight of females (about 1 kg).

They begin egg laying at the age of 180–210 days, and it passes in cycles that last for five months with a subsequent interval of 90 days.

At the same time, they are considered to be more clean, soundless, their meat is of higher quality, these ducks are more productive in the sense that the feed is converted into muscle, not fat.

Beijing Peking ducks are one of the best among meat breeds. They were developed by Chinese poultry farmers more than 300 years ago in the vicinity of Beijing. In the second half of the XIX century. Peking ducks were brought from China to America and Europe, quickly spreading to all European countries. In our country, Peking ducks are one of the most common breeds.

These birds are early ripening, they feed well and tolerate cold winters. In Peking ducks, the head is large, wide, elongated, with a convex frontal part. The beak is orange-yellow, somewhat concave, of medium size. Legs are low, thick, reddish-orange in color, placed closer to the back of the body.

The eyes are large, shiny, deep-set, dark blue. The neck is thick, of medium length. The plumage is white with a yellowish-cream tinge. The wings are strong, tight enough to the sides. The body is long, raised. The chest is wide, deep. The back is long, wide, inclined from the shoulders to the tail.

The tail is slightly raised.

Young animals, with abundant feeding at 50–55 days of age, reach a weight of 2–2.5 kg. Good quality meat. The weight of the drake is 3.5–4 kg, the ducks are 3–3.5 kilograms.

About ducks that live in nature

Wild ducks are striking in their number and variety of variations of colors. Each of them is unique in appearance and has its own habits and behavioral features. In nature, the following types of ducks are found: coot, merganser, turpan, sviyaz, etc.

Virtually all wild ducks can be easily domesticated by humans.

For the normal full-fledged habitat of ducks of any species, it is important to have coastal vegetation in reservoirs, and therefore it is possible to find these birds in wetlands, in bays, in canals, in reservoirs, etc.

In this article, just below will be presented one of these wild birds - the black coot duck.

Breeds and groups of human-raised ducks

According to their main productivity, ducks are divided into 3 main types: egg-fed, common-use and meat.

1. The egg-laying ducks are much lighter in weight than those of the general use or meat types. And in their egg production, birds of this type are not inferior to chickens.

2. Common types of poultry are distinguished by egg production with relatively high and excellent meat qualities. Approximately by the age of 65 days the weight of live ducklings reaches 1.6 kilograms. The best of them are left to replenish the herd of parents, and the rest are allowed for meat. The most promising species of this type of ducks are Orpington and Khaki Campbell,

3. Ducks, such as beef, have good live weight and are quite fast enough. The following breeds belong to this type of bird: Moscow, gray Ukrainian, Peking, black white-breasted ducks, white Rouen, and eils bury.

Further details of the black ducks will be described in more detail, one of which is the above-mentioned black white-breasted duck of the meat type.

Black duck: photo, general information

First of all, it should be emphasized that ducks of this type are distinguished by precocity. These beautiful birds have a rich black color plumage. It is noteworthy that the breeds of these ducks can live in a wide variety of habitats.

For the most part, black ducks are domesticated birds, which, with fairly good fattening, are killed at the age of about 65 days.

Black ducks are divided mainly into two types: white-breasted, coot. After reading the article, it will be possible to understand the difference between a black white-breasted domesticated duck and a wild coot.

Black white-breasted ducks are one of the most common breeds grown on numerous Russian farms.

Coots are wild birds, which can be found mostly in natural water bodies overgrown with vegetation, especially during warmer seasons.

About black white-breasted ducks

This bird is quite large.

It is characterized by the black color of the plumage of the body, head, upper body and abdomen. Drakes (males) are distinguished by the presence of blue-violet reflux in the upper part of the neck. They have black legs, and the lower part of the chest - with white plumage.

Black-headed white-breasted ducks have a moderate thickness of short legs, and they are much closer to the back of the body than in other birds. Slightly concave inside the average length of the beak has a completely dark color. Black shiny eyes are quite large. Well developed strong wings fit well to the sides of the body.

The live weight of the male reaches 3.5-4 kilograms when fully fed, and the females reach up to 3.5 kilograms. On average, the level of egg production reaches 115-140 eggs per year. At the same time, it persists for several years.

This duck is recognized as the best for growing. The carcasses of a black white-breasted duck have white skin. Its meat is very tasty and healthy, has a greater fat content and better taste, unlike many other breeds.

Their egg production is about 120 eggs, and their egg weight is 80-90 grams.

This black duck is a well-fed breed and very early ripening. The total mass of duck carcasses, slaughtered at about 65 days of age, on average reaches up to 2.5 kilograms. And their meat is much more nutritious and fatter than meat of ducks of other species.

Coot: habitat description

Black coot duck - another representative of the birds of this group. Usually, their habitats are picturesque old floodplains of rivers and shallow lakes, which have managed to fairly overgrow with various surface plants and reeds.

These birds are very fond of water, but they do not like deeper water with open terrain.

Duck of this breed is easy to learn by its bright distinctive color. The black duck with a white beak has a rich black color with a white spot on the forehead. Paws with long gray fingers have a yellowish-orange color.

The live weight of individuals of adults reaches one kilogram, but there are also polutorakilogrammovye. Males are larger than females.

The people call this duck differently: “official”, due to the similarity of color of plumage with a snow-white badge on his forehead with a strict black suit and white shirt, “black loon”, because by its manner of behavior, flight and liking it resembles this bird. There is another name - "water hen", because of the calm nature and in connection with the easy tame. The latter should be done with caution, since during the nesting period their behavior is aggressive. Black ducks (coots) do not regret and drive away their sharp claws even their relatives during the marital state.

Curious fact about coot

If at the time when the bird is building a nest, it is disturbed or disturbed by something, then, as a rule, it will immediately give up the work started and float away in search of another nesting site.

Therefore, in many reservoirs, habitats of black ducks coots, you can see a lot of unfinished floating uninhabited nests.

There is another curious point about coots. The males of this breed of birds build for themselves a separate nest, designed exclusively for them, where they rest from difficult parental troubles.

Conclusion

Ducks are special, cute and interesting birds. Many have an interest in them not only in gastronomic terms.

Both wild representatives of this species and those grown in poultry farming are all unique and unique. Nature endowed each species with its unique features, both in their character and behavior, and in appearance.

I am very pleased that quite often you can see people off the coast of urban ponds that feed these amazing and lovely, almost tame birds.
