Ragdoll is a breed of cats, which is still quite rare in our country, since it was bred only in the middle of the last century. The main trump card breeders of these animals is the fact that they somehow managed to achieve an extraordinary relaxation of muscle tone, completely unattainable to other breeds. In addition, Ragdoll kittens have a very soft and docile nature, and adults - complete equanimity.

History of

The ancestor of the Ragdoll breed is an Angora cat named Josephine. She lived with her mistress Ann Baker in the 60s of the last century in California. Once the owner of the animal noticed that her pet has interesting features, consisting in an unusual muscle slackness and a fairly low pain threshold. These facts prompted Ann to the decision to create a new breed.

First of all, she found a couple for Josephine, a beautiful and calm Burma cat. The results of the work exceeded all expectations. According to Anne Baker herself, the first Ragdoll kittens turned out just perfect. In 1965, this breed was officially recognized by the California Association of Cat Lovers. Currently, there are American and European regdoll branches.

It is impossible to say that these cats were giants, but still they are larger than most breeds. Reggall females weigh from 4 to 6, and males weigh up to 9 kg. The shape of the head is wedge-shaped and wide. The eyes are oval, large and have only blue color of varying intensity. The length of the hair is medium or long, very soft and looks like a rabbit fur coat. It is loosely attached to the body of the animal, so even when walking it starts to move. The longest hair grows on the neck, forming a very beautiful and pronounced collar. On the front extremities, it is noticeably shorter, but on the rear - it looks like a "pants".

The ears are medium-sized regdolls, slightly rounded, sometimes with small tassels on the tips. As a rule, they are slightly bent forward, and their inside is covered with not very long hair.

The body is rather massive with a broad and well-developed chest. The body is long and muscular. There may be a slightly saggy belly. Limbs strong and muscular. The paws are large, oval-shaped, and between the fingers are tufts of wool. The forelimbs of these cats are slightly shorter than the hind ones, therefore the back line is noticeably elevated to the rump.

There are three main varieties of this breed. The first one is color points. This color is very similar to Siamese cats, whose hair on the body is light, and the ears, muzzle, tail and paws are dark. A Burmese cat has a similar appearance. Ragdoll, whose kittens are born of the same color, as they grow, acquire their true color.

The next variety - the so-called mitted - differs from the previous white wool on the paws, forming a kind of "socks". And the last color is bicolor. This type differs from cats with dark paws in that they have on the muzzle a characteristic area with white wool in the form of an inverted English letter V. As for pigmentation, it begins with cheeks and eyes. Paws in such animals should be only white.

Wool in each variety of Ragdoll has 4 colors: dark brown (Seal), blue, chocolate and lilac. Now only two-colored individuals of this breed can take part in exhibitions, while the rest are still unrecognized.

Not only Ragdoll kittens, but already adult animals are very sociable, obedient and affectionate. It is rather difficult to endure loneliness, therefore, as soon as such an opportunity arises, they accompany their master everywhere. Ragdolls are often overly gullible. These cats are very intelligent and easy to train, but sometimes allow themselves to shirk from the execution of commands.

Many breeders believe that this breed is not suitable for families with small children, as it is known that kids love not only to stroke, but also to cuddle a cute fluffy animal. Given the low pain threshold of these cats, such treatment can lead to serious injury to the animal.

Despite the fact that these animals are calm and rather lazy by nature, not only Ragdoll kittens, but also adults sometimes love to frolic, showing all the agility and speed of movements inherent in other cat breeds. However, they have one major drawback - they do not jump. It is because of this feature, experts recommend very careful attitude to Ragdolls - in no case can not push or throw them from a height. The fact is that, unlike other cats, they, due to their physical and genetic characteristics, cannot quickly group themselves, so a fall can result in serious injuries for an animal in the form of bruises or fractures. You can feel the extraordinary relaxation of the Ragdoll muscles simply by taking the cat in your arms - it almost loses its shape, hanging on you like a rag doll.

None of the cat breeds feels more comfortable in the closed space of small apartments, like Ragdoll. Kittens, and even adults, require a lot of attention to themselves during street walks, as their inhibited reaction can lead to injuries and other accidents. In order to avoid undesirable consequences and to protect your pet as much as possible, special leashes, to which the randolls very quickly get used, are perfect.

The hair of this breed does not have undercoat, so it never gets tangled. Proceeding from this, two combing a week will be enough to remove already dead hairs. It is necessary to bathe a pet only as it is contaminated.

Almost all of the representatives of this breed love to eat well, but at the same time they never suffer from obesity. Tip: in order to prevent the appearance of hair lumps in the cat's intestines, contributing to its clogging, it is necessary from time to time to add to the food means, splitting wool. There is also a special food, which already includes "solvents".

Ragdolls are mainly distinguished by good health and good endurance, but they have one intrabreeding disease - hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, when an animal may suddenly die without any preliminary signs of the disease.

In order to prevent such cases, it is necessary to periodically inspect your pet with a veterinarian with mandatory additional studies, such as a cardiogram, an ultrasound scan, etc. It should be noted that abroad animals with such a disease are not allowed to breed at all, in order to minimize the appearance of kittens with heart disease.

Be careful, fake!

Not only in our country, but also abroad, two breeds are often confused - burma and ragdoll. Kittens of the second of them are born exclusively white, and colored areas on the fur appear as the animal matures. These cats are in many ways similar to the Burmese, however, given their physiological and genetic features, they can still be distinguished from representatives of other breeds.

This scam is often used by scammers, so you need to be very careful when you buy Ragdoll kittens. A nursery engaged in the distribution of these animals must also be officially registered in the club of fans of this breed. According to the existing rules, the direct descendants of the cat Josephine must be involved in the breeding of ragdolls. In addition, the nursery must receive a special permit from his club to cross, since only he has at his disposal the true ancestor of this breed.

How much are Ragdoll kittens

As mentioned above, there are very few such animals in our country. Sometimes, under their guise, they can sell another cat, posing as a real ragdoll. Kittens whose price does not exceed 2 thousand rubles - frank deception. The cost of animals of this breed depends on several factors, the main of which are pedigree, age, exterior and health.

In order to clarify how much a Ragdoll kitten costs, it is necessary to contact a reputable cattery that has official registration. Now the prices for such pet-class animals, i.e. the cheapest, ranging from 15 to 40 thousand rubles. Cats as a class higher cost much more.

Some Ragdoll breeders offer to buy animals at lower prices - from 5 thousand rubles, but without documents. At the same time, they assure that their kittens are received from pedigreed parents. In addition, offers can also come from private (unregistered) breeders who sell animals at a price of 2.5 thousand rubles or more. Before you buy such an inexpensive kitten, you should know that in this case the risk of getting a fake animal instead of a purebred animal is very high. Therefore, it is better to purchase ragdolls in officially registered kennels.

Breed history

The origin of the Ragdoll cats is related to an accident.

1960s, California. Long-haired Angora cat Josephine falls under the car.

Fortunately, she survives, but her mistress, breeder Anna Baker, is in for a surprise: the fluffy pet has become inhibited, her former activity and self-preservation instinct have disappeared somewhere. Muscle tone and pain threshold decreased.

Baker felt then that over the cat after the accident conducted experiments in the hospital.

Nevertheless, the breeder did not lose her head: she decided to watch the posterity of the kennel, and her instinct did not let her down. By crossing a cat burma-colorpoint with a “blond” Josephine, Anna received stunning kittens - lush little pupae, which were adopted by the “static” mother.

The kittens were extremely calm, almost amorphous, they could be shaken and squeezed in their hands as much as necessary.

So, to 1965 year, Baker finished work on the breed and, calling it "ragdoll" - "rag doll", registered.

In 1986 Mr. Ragdoll male entered the Guinness Book of Records, thanks to the impressive dimensions.

In 1991 The breed was recognized by the English GCCF, in 1992 was joined by FIFe.

The breed very quickly became popular in Europe - the Western mentality liked the “comfortable” character of these cats.

Ragdolls are now actively being bred around the world, the Allied republics are still waiting for a "boom" for an unusual breed.

Breed standard

Ragdoll is one of the largest domestic cats. Adult Ragdoll cats can weigh up to 12 kg and reach lengths of up to 1 meter. Females are usually 2-3 times easier than males.

This breed is amazingly beautiful, the standard speaks for itself:

    • the head is wedge-shaped, with a round muzzle, a well-developed chin,
    • the cheeks are thick, the nose is short and wide,
    • big, slanting oval eyes,

  • around the face and neck - fluffy collar,
  • the ears are medium, with a wide base, rounded,
  • massive body, long, well-developed body,
  • limbs large and strong
  • the feet are large, rounded, with tufts of hair between the fingers,
  • tail length - medium, “fluffiness” increased,
  • long, thick coat, silky to the touch.

By breeding, 3 varieties of Ragdoll were derived by color type:

  • colorpoint - reminds a Siamese color - a light body, dark ears, paws, a tail and a muzzle,
  • mitted - “white socks” - colorpoint plus white paws, lower jaw, chest and bib,
  • bicolor - white legs, chest and abdomen, light torso, dark ears, mask and tail.

In each type of color, there are 4 colors:

In each litter of Ragdolls, there are usually up to 4 cubs. They are born in a white fur coat, and by two years already have one of 4 shades of color.

The final shape and color of the coat Ragdoll kittens acquire by three years.

Breed character

The behavior and character of Ragdoll is in its name. However, do not associate this "rag doll" with idleness or stupidity.

    1. Getting into the hands of the ownerThis cat is relaxing and limping, as if dissolving in its arms. She is able to accept and hold any unbelievable postures. But in this over-relaxation is a threat: when falling, the animal may not land on its paws, which is fraught with injuries.
    2. For the same reason this breed is not recommended for families with small children. Compliance and reduced pain threshold Ragdoll can play with them a cruel joke, when children take it into their head to shake and squeeze. The pet will not resist, and this, of course, is very dangerous.

    1. Ragdoll loves to chat with the owner, however will not bother. And his voice is quiet and melodious.
    2. Representatives of this breed are calm, kind and trusting as children.

    Breed content

Care of ragdolls is also not a problem. We can only identify the main principles of the content of this breed:

      • Ragdoll's wool almost does not shed or tangle, as it does not have a thick undercoat,
      • once a day is enough to comb a cat with a comb or a brush (by the way, the pet loves this process),
      • bathing this animal is best kept to a minimum - ragdoll hates water, using high-quality hygiene products for the procedures,
      • Cat's appetite is excellent, but the breed is not prone to obesity,
      • what to feed ragdoll - a veterinarian may advise, but remember that the pet's diet must be balanced, with a large proportion of mineral supplements and energy products,
      • the birth of these cats is usually easy, mummies take great care about kittens,

Read under the picture, how to bathe the kitten. Be sure to come in handy.

    • Ragdolls have a risk of hip dysplasia and a predisposition to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, due to which the animal may die suddenly.

    Ragdoll Breed: History of Origin

A detailed list of events describing the appearance of cats of this breed into the world is practically unknown to anyone. Therefore, people often joke that it was precisely the excessive laziness of the Ragdolls themselves that did not give them the opportunity to leave the pedigree or the chronicle for their descendants. In fact, we know only a few facts about the history of the origin of Ragdolls, with which we will try to become acquainted.

The United States of America is the place where the history of the appearance of Ragdoll cats originates. Animal breeders who lived in this country in the sixties of the twentieth century inadvertently discovered the jackpot for themselves. This is a wonderfully found cat named Josephine. Her peculiarity was a very appeasable character. The cat was crossed with a color-pointed male of the Burmese breed.

The result of this experiment was a new breed, called "rag doll." Officially registered newly bred representative of the cat family in 1965. In the Internet, you can find photos of the cat Josephine, which clearly demonstrate, for example, that she belonged to the Angora type.

Redgalls gained great popularity in many countries of the world, such as England, Germany, France, Italy, United States of America. They are in demand there until now. If we compare the appearance of Ragdolls with the external characteristics of other breeds, then they most of all look like representatives of the breed of Persian cats.

External characteristics of the breed Ragdoll

Ragdoll's bright blue eyes do not leave anyone indifferent. Their mind and mysterious insight convince the person that the cat understands everything and knows how to see the most important things in life. Ragdoll was named Feline Buddhas. However, the official status of the breed draws our attention not only to the memorable features of the appearance of a purebred cat, but also to clearly established breed standards.

    • Wedge-shaped head.
    • Pronounced, contrasting with the ears, the flat surface of the head between them.
    • Well developed cheeks.
    • Medium chin.
    • Long nose.
    • The width of the nose is half its length.
    • The broad base of the ears (rarely end with tassels).
    • Middle ears, the inside of which is covered with wool.
    • Oval-shaped eyes of large size, far set.
    • Bright blue color of eyes (various shades are possible).
    • Thick and long white mustache.

In general, in the appearance of Ragdolls are similarities with Burmese cats. Among the differences is that Ragdolls are larger and heavier cats. Gender affiliation affects their size, so females are smaller (weight 4-6 kg) than males (weight 6-9 kg). The development of cats of this breed lasts until they reach the age of three years. The described external characteristics bring the breed closer to the famous Maine Coons. The main difference of redgall in this context is coat color.

There are several types of purebred ragdoll color:

    1. Siamese color-point, in which the muzzle, tail, ears and feet have a dark color, the rest of the wool - light.
    2. Glove, in which the legs, chest and chin highlighted with light wool.
    3. Bicolor, which is a combination of light and dark shades of colors.

Shades of colors used in different types of colors are coffee, purple and even bluish. The way in which the colors are combined, the official standard of the breed is not limited.

The structure of the regdoll's wool is very similar to the soft and silky hair of rabbits. Its length is average, with undercoat, so ragdolls need to be combed out. The quality of wool allows you to do this without difficulty for the owner and without pain for the animal. Wool invoices the neck of a pet with the help of a fur collar, and also hind legs with the help of “pants”.

    Ragdoll cat character

The wonderful character of the cat Josephine is praised by all the owners of Ragdolls, since her descendants are incredibly docile. And this applies not only to their relationship with a person. Ragdolls have a high level of adaptability. They quickly get used to a new home or apartment when they move, they get along with all the members of their owners' company.

Dislike for loud sounds is often attributed to the minuses of representatives of this breed, but cats can be understood. Ragdoll's phlegmatic nature does not have sympathy for everything noisy. Cats of this breed are calm and friendly. The softness of the Ragdolls makes them incapable of aggression. Therefore, they live well in families where there are children, tolerate their games and curiosity towards themselves, and are also able to pose for a long time in a photo in those positions that the little owner wishes.

Since the first ragdolls were bred, representatives of this breed are often tried to pass off other cats and cats. How can I recognize the "fake"? The answer is simple - by character. The liveliness of nature, love for scratching and fun games - all this is not about him. If you are dealing with a real phlegmatic person, then you are not deceived.

The visiting card of Ragdol cats is a voice, the frequency of which corresponds to the rest of his character traits. As you might guess, he gives it rarely and quietly.

Ragdolls easily make friends with other pets in the house, but people will be his authority. Ragdolls love to walk their tails for a little more than to be lazy.

    Ragdoll cats health

The health of cats of this breed is different fortress, which they skillfully preserve until old age. But there are no rules without exceptions, which means that this issue has its own rough edges.

Ragdolls have some diseases that are unique to this breed. Among them - hip dysplasia. If the disease does not develop, it will not cause much difficulty to the animal, and the owner will leave its presence unnoticed. In turn, a severe degree of dysplasia may respond to a limp animal or total immobilization.

The next disease the pet of this breed may encounter is feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It entails sudden death, both in early and in old age. This is a hereditary disease, so it is possible to trace the probability of its occurrence in a particular pet through information about the health of its parents.

Features care for the cat breed Ragdoll

Professionals in the field of breeding Ragdoll cats advise taking the kitten from the mother no earlier than sixteen weeks after his birth, as the babies develop much longer than their counterparts in the family of other breeds. This feature affects the care and maintenance of the cat.

Independent walks to pets of this breed are contraindicated and even prohibited, since the phlegmatic nature will not allow them to escape from the aggression of street animals or the carelessness of motorists. They do not know how to defend themselves at all, only the space at home is comfortable and safe for them.

Another difficulty in the life of cats of this breed is that they absolutely do not know how to group. Falling from significant and even from low altitudes can be fatal to an animal. The owners either need to be always on the alert, or from childhood to wean the kitten to climb high. Fortunately, ragdolls have excellent learning abilities, which means they will quickly understand what is required of them.

In general, caring for Ragdoll cats is not a big deal. The only addition is to pay attention to the pet's fur. It does not hurt the daily combing, from which, in addition to the benefits, he gets great pleasure.

How to feed a ragdoll cat?

Ragdolls love to eat and do not have a bad appetite. Despite the fact that they are excessively lazy, the tendency to obesity is not found in them. In addition to the usual food, cats need special mineral supplements that contribute to the development of the skeleton. The previously noted heavyness of the representatives of the breed entails the size of their portions. The kitten needs 120 grams of food per day, the adult will not give up 300 grams. Watch for a moderate frequency of feeding.

Ragdolls are good about eating properly selected dry food. In case of preference for a natural type of feeding, watch for proportionality, since 2/3 of the whole diet should be meat. It is not allowed to feed the pet fat and fried, river fish and milk.

    Some interesting facts

    1. Ragdol kittens have a white coat color at birth. The color scheme of the kitten appears only by the tenth day. Establishment of permanent color occurs at the age of two years.
    2. The average life expectancy of a pet is 15-18 years.

    Information and documents

All kittens of the Ragdoll breed, which are sold in nurseries, must have a pedigree, a certificate of vaccinations already made and a veterinary passport. It is the responsibility of the breeder to inform the buyer about the existing exterior defects, about the character, habits, health and other features of your future pet.

The seller should also provide the most detailed advice on the rules for the care, maintenance and feeding of an animal of a given breed, as well as, if necessary, on all the features associated with exhibition activities and transportation.

    Cat Ragdoll Reviews

    Vladlen

Ragdoll - just a fabulous cat! The name of the breed is true - Reggae is gentle, quiet, helpful. He knows how to lie and sit like a man, meets with work, asks for his hands. She loves fruit, does not change her tray and grows literally by the day.

    Alyona

I have two ragdolls - a boy and a girl. They are so different and at the same time so similar. They go only to the tray, generally learn everything quickly - it is worth only showing it once. On the hands they simply “spread out” and immediately begin to rumble. They chase me around the house with profound snouts. The cat is a little more mobile than a cat: it wakes up in the morning, biting its fingers, runs more with the ball and carries the food from Dolly. She, on the contrary, “beats” a pillow to me - she lulls, and for a long time she silently looks into her eyes.

Ragdoll will give you an unforgettable time together, personifying tenderness, tranquility and unity with human nature.

In addition, you will need knowledge of how to choose the right cat food, so as not to overpay for the “brand” and not harm the health of the pet with poor-quality nutrition. Feeding a kitten is slightly different, more info here.

What you need to know about the breed

Ragdoll (born Ragdoll - rag doll) is a breed of semi-long-haired cats, bred in the 60s of the last century in the United States. Ragdolls got their unusual name due to a gene mutation, as a result of which their muscle tone was lowered. As a result, they are extremely flexible and soft to the touch, but they should be handled with care: unlike other cats, they are not able to land on their paws, and even falling from the sofa is fraught with serious injuries. Because of their physical characteristics, regdolls are never aggressive, on the contrary - the owners, on whom they completely depend, are for them the center of the universe, and one can hardly find anywhere more compliant and devoted cats.

Ragdolls require constant care, but they are not capricious and very phlegmatic. They get along well with other animals and, if they show aggression, they simply leave and do not get involved in a fight.

Representatives of this breed prefer to communicate with people. They have high intelligence, quickly accustomed to the tray and perfectly understand human speech.

How to choose a real ragdoll

When choosing kittens of the Ragdoll breed, it is extremely important to remember that all of them are born completely white, and the true color of the cat will appear only at the age of two. In newborns, the eyes open only in two weeks, the suckling period also lasts for quite a long time, and it is not worthwhile to take babies from cats prematurely.

Very often, a representative of the Ragdolls is given out by their close relative - the Burmese cat. The reason for this - a similar color with dark markings. Meanwhile, the Ragdoll standard is quite strict: its distinctive features, along with its peace-loving character, are rich blue widely set eyes, a wedge-shaped muzzle with plump cheeks and medium chin, rounded ears (sometimes with tassels), a long muscular body with a long slightly pointed tail. Despite some stocking and muscularity, the muscle tone of these cats is always low. By and large, to distinguish this Ragdoll, simply pick him up.

There are only three variants of colors: color-point (standard), mitted (with white socks, chin and chest) and bicolor (two-color). Each of the colors can be one of four varieties: "Sio", blue, purple or chocolate.

    The origin of the breed

Ragdolls are so lazy that even the chronicle of their own breed did not bother to leave to descendants. The history of the origin of the breed is covered with darkness, through which it is possible to examine only a few reliable facts.

The motherland of "rag dolls" (namely, the breed name is literally translated as such) - America. California breeders in the early 60s of the last century randomly stumbled upon a gold mine, or rather, the domestic cat Josephine, which was famous for its extremely appeasable character. So docile, that Josephine absolutely did not object to marriage with a certain representative of the Burmese breed.

As a result of the effort expended, the Ragdoll breed, already registered in 1965, with its standard and fans. On the Internet, by the way, you can find photos of Josephine. According to him it is clear that the pro-mother of the breed was clearly of the Angora type.

Today, Ragdolls are most popular in England, Germany, Italy, France and, of course, the United States. This breed is very similar to the Persians.

    Ragdoll Breed Description

"These eyes are opposite kaleidoscope of lights." The first thing you pay attention to when meeting a member of the Ragdoll breed is bright blue and very intelligent eyes that seem to look at the very core of things. Cats Buddha is probably the best description of Ragdoll. But the breed standard insists on the details.

    1. The head of the cat breed Ragdoll wedge. Between the ears is an obvious flat surface. The cheeks are well developed, they smoothly pass into the jaws and chin of medium size:
    • The nose of the “pupae” has a light break - transition. IMPORTANT! The length of the nose is 2 times its width,
    • ears at the base are wide, but at the tips may have brushes. The size of the ears is average, there is a slight inclination of the ears forward. On the inside of the ears is medium-sized wool,
    • eyes are not eyes, but eyes! And these eyes can be extremely bright blue. Different subtones are allowed. The eyes are large, oval, set far apart. By the way, the special muscle tone of ragdolls also affects the fact that kitten's eyes open this breed only two weeks after birth, while ordinary kittens open on the 10th or 12th day,
    • luxurious white mustache is one of the signs that determine the breed,
    • neck muscular, strong.
    1. In the way the Ragdoll cat looks, some find commonality with Burmese cats. There are similarities, but no less differences. Unlike the Birmans, Ragdolls are large and heavy cats. Their size is highly dependent on the floor. The girls are noticeably smaller. But both in cats and in cats the chest is well developed, wide, the body itself is long and muscular. On the stomach there may be fat deposits (but only on the stomach, in other places such reserves are excluded). Cats and cats reach full development by about three years. In appearance, they are rather closer to the Maine Coons, unless the coloring is a bit confusing.

Legs of medium length, between the fingers on the rounded paws may be strands of wool.

The tail is long, pointed, very well pubescent. When moving, Ragdolls carry this woolen banner proudly and high upright.

The weight of cats is 4-6 kg, cats 6-9 kg. Oh yes, these are heavy kittens among purebred cats!

    1. Cat hair, if promoted by ragdoll owners, is similar to rabbit wool. It is of medium length, with a small undercoat, the texture is silky (therefore it almost does not fall down), and combed easily and painlessly. There is an outstanding woolen collar on the neck, and on the hind legs of the “pants” - this is what the perfect Ragdoll looks like from the picture!
    1. Color Ragdolls can have three types of color:
    • Color-point (Siamese type. Light coat and mask on the face, plus dark tail, ears and paws),
    • glove color “Mitted” (white gloves on paws and light wool on chest and chin),
    • bicolor, a combination of two colors (legs, chest, belly - white, light body, dark mask on the face and darker tail and ears).

Shades of wool can be various options cocoa chocolate or brown, as well as dark purple or bluish. Color combinations are not limited to the standard.

Black, gray, red color ... it's not about them. If you are trying to offer an animal of this color, then it could be anyone, but not a “rag doll”! But all Ragdolls are white, but not for long. And the story is still to come.

    Ragdoll character

“Tahiti, Tahiti, we were not in any Tahiti, they feed us well here too!” The rare adaptation ability inherent in the representatives of this breed is simply amazing. They easily adapt to any dwelling and practically to any company. The main thing is to be quiet! Because loud sounds make it difficult to be lazy, and Ragdoll loves being lazy the most and does it masterfully! They are so comfortable under the same roof - Ragdolls are calm, good-natured and obedient. Actually, this is not surprising, given that they brought them just because of the nature.

And the character was not aggressive and very soft. The owners note that in whatever position they planted the ragdoll, in such a kitten the ragdoll remains. No wonder they are also called toys!

IMPORTANT! Since the appearance of the breed in the world, they are constantly trying to pass someone off as a Ragdoll. How to determine what is fake in front of you? Exceptional in nature. Fake ragdoll is not fun! Or rather, never show a unique character, so appreciated by experts.

By the way, another difference Ragdoll - voice. He submits it very rarely, solely on the case and barely audible. This unobtrusiveness of ragdolls is manifested in everything - in the way he relaxes in your arms, in tidiness, and in meekness.

This breed is ideal for families with children, because ragdolls adore when they are squeezed, stroked and petted.

In addition, if from a young age to teach a kid to a shlee, then with ragdoll it will be possible to make unhurried boardwalks, posing for photos and signing autographs.

It is also worth noting that if you already have a pet (a cat or even a dog), then don't let that stop you from the thought of bringing a ragdoll to the house - they will get along fine and even make friends. But the company of man is still preferable to him. Get ready for the "rag doll" will always be at your fingertips. Or under foot, or at home, in general, how it goes!

In principle, ragdolls are guys with good health and they maintain good health until old age. But still not without a fly in the ointment.

The first problem peculiar to a particular breed is dysplasia of the hip joint. The mild degree of this disease will not cause the inconvenience to the animal, and the host may go unnoticed. But here a severe degree of dysplasia threatens with a limp or immobilization of a pet.

And another problem that may occur is feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (NSM). This is a heart disease, dangerous because even at an early age the animal may die completely suddenly. Since the disease is inherited, when you purchase a ragdoll, let the breeders give you accurate information about the health of the parents of the kitten. Впрочем, НСМ могут болеть и кошки других пород, но лучше иногда подуть на воду и перестраховаться.

Interesting fact! Все без исключения котята рэгдоллы рождаются белоснежными, без единого пятнышка, первые «прокрашивание» начинаются приблизительно к 10-му дню, а в полную «боевую» окраску рэгдолл вступает только к двухлетнему возрасту.

Ragdoll has a lifespan of 15-18 years, so you have time to enjoy the indescribable beauty.

Where to buy a ragdoll kitten

The line between the ragdoll and the "slightly defective" Burmese cat is very thin. Even professional judges complain about the lack of clear external differences. Where in Ukraine or in Russia are “correct” Ragdoll cats? In a few nurseries. We emphasize - in the few. You do not want to get for the next 15-18 years an aggressive animal, obtained from unscrupulous crossing?

Ragdoll breeders are mainly concentrated in America, but also with us, if you ask the question: “Where to buy?” And search very well, you can find decent breeders.

Now the second most important question is how much does a Ragdoll cat cost? The cost of kittens is influenced by their parents' champion past, the need for delivery to a country or city, and so on. In general, the price ranges from 10 to 35 thousand rubles (4-13 thousand hryvnia).
